I expect some team wipes durring watched
as people have no clue what they are doing and treating it like old watched
you actually need to totally spread apart from each other
and be far more careeful of all the bullet hell spam
yea that’s true
i’m glad that it’ll be more dangerous though, the boss fight really needed something to make it less of a spam fest kinda. and the watched was kinda annoying sometimes rather than a threat, but now it’ll be something that’s actually dangerous which is really good imo

he calculates the distance to jump to jump very close to ur y level
then hits u and bounces off in the air

i can't wait to see party members fall off after trying to kite greg around the now non-existent wall
durring testing i saw some people get slapped into the void winds
then end up needing to use movement spells to get out
pretty funny

his melee does the carzy kb, u are an archer

does greg have anything else to combat acrobat besides watched/seed pods or is that it
like a special melee or jump, like the eye
oh speaking of jump, would it be possible for greg to deal damage while he’s in the air, jumping? currently greg can basically jump into you if you have acrobat and pirouette will basically negate any possibility of getting meleed, if it had maybe a bigger melee aoe while it was in the air that would be cool
well it would be painful but fair, since the jump doesn’t do much to hurt acro
imagine if greg could jump towards an acro and slap them into the winds

also u gotta consider animations
greg has melee and jump animations to help telegraph stuff
having him switch mid air to do melee, then switch back, would look janky if it even worked well

the damage kb prevented me from getting out at all

if this isn’t already a thing it would be nice if the void wind border had a particle effect so you could tell where it was if you’re airborne and aren’t looking at the ground. i don’t wanna accidentally fly in there lol. and maybe if there’s a lag issue it could only appear when you get close?
though if it isn’t added it’ll just make you need to be more aware of where you are in the arena which imo is a good thing
Just get grapple hook in your build, obviously

its where the edge of the arena is
I dont want to add a bunch of needless particles for something I think is obvious
also uh, maybe pay more attention while flying, ur already able to avoid most attacks

reading through the last few days of messages has me really looking forward to the update
I love exchanging the soul point system for an overall higher difficulty level - it means that players can throw more attempts at a really hard challenge and feel rewarded as they get closer and closer to victory, and it allows them to learn and experiment with strategies much more easily
the current soul point system effectively says that you get three tries before you're temporarily banned from trying again, and there's nothing fun about it
e.g. getting close to soloing Bob with Mage at slightly above the quest level but "cheating" with my level 100 spell spam Archer because I'm temp-banned from trying again with my Mage
time-based ranged attacks are going to be a godsend for Assassin and, to a good extent, also Warrior
Assassin currently gets shafted so hard by bosses that use a ton of ranged attacks
e.g. good luck with Bob at anything close to the quest level

I've never thought about buying soul bombs, so I would just miss out on content because I dont want to lose my inventory, but now I can try things like the tower of ascension underleveled and not worry about being locked out of wynncraft for hours
you might not want to do that lol
you will still get punished quite heavily - the time spent doing attempt after attempt at the same thing and losing grows quickly! you'll also still be going through consumable items
in my opinion, time spent trying is time well spent
that carries me through a lot of difficult games like celeste, no punishment except to restart
I know a lot of people hate losing though which is fair
i will miss the old unicodes but hey!
being more vibrant is useful for identification at a glance

random feedback unrelated to the current conversation at hand: i like the new lightbender abilities and they seem to make the archetype to play as (i also like that sunflare actually now has a reason to get it for solo lightbenders too)
yeah agreed, i think it'll be cool. hopefully the attack speed thing will be fixed though
Wynncraft is the only MMO I think would just flat out fail at an old school version, since every update to Wynn has undoubtedly improved the experience. Outside of like pre-1.20 wars for some people there isn’t much I can think of where someone would be so nostalgic for something they would spend hundreds of hours on an old-school Wynncraft

my nostalgia has always been for pre gavel stupid simple wynn, even thoe I know it sucks

Some people join post-Gavel and so they may have a personal connection for it.
And even then, Gavel was released approximately nine years ago, which is more than enough time for someone to say, get nostalgic for say... something 4 years before 2024.

For sure, though I think it just wouldn’t work as a new “Classic” Server because Pre-Gavel wynn sucked (like you said), it was novel, but it sucked. The only point I could see where they go classic is 1.19/1.20 updates, a toss up between the 2, 1.19 has entirely different war system, less powercreep because no tomes, and a different Gavel experience, meanwhile 1.20 has the new gavel experience, powercreep, and new war system some people don’t like, but it’s pre-2.0 which is an update that was almost as fundamental of a shift as Gavel was
If I were constructing an Old School Wynncraft it would be a hodgepodge and not corresponding to any specific update.
Mixing and matching various eras while discarding everything 'bad'.
Every update had flaws, 'Old School' (Remixed?) would patch flaws from one update with parts from another.
