#New Wynncraft website is slow, bloated and janky

The new homepage has a lot of unnecessary animations that makes it lag A LOT and generally feel unresponsive when scrolling through it

  • extremely slow- takes a full 5 seconds to scroll between sections (I tested on both firefox and chrome with an average cpu). I have never encountered a website this slow
  • I have to scroll way too much to get to the next/previous section (almost feels like I've reached the bottom of the page)
  • Animations are janky and lag a lot
  • The background moving with your cursor is slightly annoying in my opinion
  • old website designs (while also a little slow) were perfectly fine
  • When I go to the update page (wynncraft.com/update) and then use the home button to go back to the main page, some wind/cloud animation tries to play but gets frozen 70% of the time, covering the website (on both chrome and firefox)

This is terrible and is hopefully fixed soon, doesn’t look good for their main website to not run on basically anything

# fast plank which firefox extensions/themes are you using to get it looking like that?

was using this theme https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/catppuccin-mocha-lavender-git/
i love the catppuccin colorscheme and you can get it in a lot of programs :3
im using compact mode to make the chrome (the browser's UI) a little smaller and more compact, you have to go into about:config and enable browser.compactmode.show to enable it because its hidden by default, then right click empty space in the tab bar, click "customize firefox" and then change density to compact
at the time i was trying out vertical tabs using a sidebar (more specifically the sidebery extension) which was hidden in the video, and so i had my horizontal tab bar hidden (im back on horizontal tabs so this isnt the case anymore)
firefox is adding native vertical tabs soon though so sidebery wont be needed, its already in nightly

#

if you mean this, this isnt part of firefox
i use waybar on linux and i riced it to look like that

#

i have since done a bit of a refresh
