#cant react to feedback posts with no reactions

so recently it seems reactions were disabled for accounts that do not have a rank role on discord.

this is fine because we can still react if somebody else has reacted to the message before, however this means that regular users cannot be the first to vote on a feedback post.

this is especially an issue for posts such as https://discord.com/channels/143852930036924417/1237541634258763857,
which have only been reacted to with super reactions, that non-paying discord users cannot add a reaction to.

another side effect i noticed is that for non ranked discord accounts, there is no longer a preview that shows the most reacted reaction on the threads list. this makes it much harder to browse the list and can only be fixed by reverting the change

solution:
add a discord bot that automatically reacts like and likent to every thread in this channel
or
revert the change and add a verification system to prevent bot raids

removing soul points would also resolve this issue

i would like this but sadly i have no rank :(

verbal tusk

i assume the change was to avoid having reaction spam on threads, but honestly they should just limit the reactions thing to this channel if that's the case

grim glacier
#

it was cuz of bots in #memes doing hate speech stuff with reactions

verbal tusk
#

bruh

#

literally just add a user verification bot like every other server

i agree as a victim of the great malfunction in account linking please give us (including some of us who do have ranks but were taken by the bot) our perms back..

I use super reacts if something is a bug, is confirmed to be added, or is confirmed to not be added.

verbal tusk
#

good to know however you are not the only person who can super react, and this is by no means an established convention

#

example is not the best, but the point still stands and i dont think it is reasonable to expect me to find a better example because this change was only implemented recently

”another side effect i noticed is that for non ranked discord accounts, there is no longer a preview that shows the most reacted reaction on the threads list. this makes it much harder to browse the list and can only be fixed by reverting the change” this is literally just a good thing

#

Now people need to think a bit for themselves instead of going into a post with their mind already made up

Like, I can still see the most reacted emote on a thread even w/o opening it

grim glacier
#

its not even a bug wtf

#

you just removed reactions so now we cant react, do u want us to make a bug report on forums about a discord issue within a specific channel or something?

And if he made up his mind just reading the title then what does the votes have to do with anything?

the only way to make people learn to read threads is by using a voting bot that hides vote results until you vote, and blocks you from voting until you read through the whole post

Yall are too fucking fixated on the votes anyways, only thing that matters is if CT likes the feedback or not. Doesnt matter if something has 2000 upvotes

thats not quite true. feedback in the form of balance concerns for example, is not something that CT will "like". thats why its feedback. the vote system is a way to let CT know how much of the community agrees with the feedback, so that they dont get a ton of post talking about the exact same thing, or people sending "+1" to indicate their agreement when they have nothing else to add to the conversation

#

or another way to put it, the voting system is a way to make ct's lives easier by sorting posts people agree on to the top. If people cannot easily vote, the voting system is less effective

thanks for clarifying

The votes do nothing but feed into people’s egos

#

And sway opinion of the weakminded

heres a quick example:
a change gets pushed that changes the cps cap of the game. someone doesnt like the change, so they make a post about it.

with votes:

  • post gets pushed more easily to the top of the channel, where ct can find it easily
  • ct can see how upvoted or downvoted it is to gauge the community's response to the cps changes
  • they can then skim through the discussion to get a better idea of the nuances
  • ct then decide amongst themselves how to proceed

without votes:

  • ct need to dig a bit more to find the post
  • ct then need to read through the discussion to gauge the consensus, because there is no number they can look at.
  • ct then decide amongst themselves how to proceed

I dont think thats true at all, theyre more likely to look at and get involved in the discussion in chat rather than just looking at the votes

verbal tusk
#

sure the ct can choose to read through the entire lengthy discussion, but votes offers an alternative. why have 1 solution when you can have 2?

#

alternatively, look at how commonly polls are used for voting in other contexts. the person gathering feedback could just read a message board's entire conversation on the topic, but using a poll saves alot more time. reactions on discord threads are just a built in poll system
