Flying kick sucks for general use and should be made optional (family friendly edition)
Cons
Selvut spends 6 hours arguing why flying kick is good.
idol kick tna [players] have to branch slightly off the tree.
Pros
Uppersurf no longer interrupted by any enemy that has a hitbox bigger than three blocks.
Easier to get through doors in a life or death situation when enemies are infront of said door.
Less mana wasted on charges that got fucked over by hitting some random [enemy] who was standing on the path
Less ability points spent.
[LR] You don't get dropped into a hoard of 500% buffed [enemies] in lootrun slay challenges when you charge ever so slightly too late.
Arguements n [stuff]
- Just go higher than the enemies [lol]
A: If you have just a regular group of 2 block tall goons, thats fine! Heres a list of factors that will [mess] you up if you try to go higher
Cave Ceilings (rip momentum)
Tall enemies (they do exist)
Unfortunately mistimed charges (instant death)
2: There are ways to go around it in the ability tree.
A: Alright great i spent 20 points and now i can't afford anything else of use on the tree.
3: but free dps...

Flying kick actually only cares about looking at enemies, not colliding with them. Look away from their hitbox (usually by looking more upwards) and it won't trigger
Also, it's definitely more than 20% of your damage in a cycle if you get the other charge upgrades (since it triggers heavy impact), it's about a third for me I think

Its still inconvenient as shit for day to day activities though and god does it make me angry
i may be a freak but hitting stuff accidentally with flying kick annoys me negatively
i for one do not feel inconvenienced by it at all (but i also advocate for archer lr in sky so you already know my opinions mean jack shit)
flying kick is incredibly inconvient for like everything except charge spam (which i hate) I have died numerous times to cursed stacked enemies in caves because of it. If youre getting swarmed you basically cannot move. your only option of escape is removed because haha funny i love flying kick.
ok but sentient snake (moving ice snake based on where you look) is worse because its mage which is a good class
and as we all know they can only fix one thing/month
while i think u didn’t address selvut’s actual argument for why kick should stay (“sure it sucks for you, but deal with it, bmonk needs downsides”) i give upvote for “we had a tool for that:”

I would like to fly around the map at Mach speeds, rather than walk for 10 minutes cause I ran out of mana hitting an enemy 6 feet to my left

flying kicks redeeming quality is that it does 200% of weap dps (?)
it is also really really spammable
idol is the only spear with -charge cost other than charging flame
so by spamming charge with idol, and bonus charge damage with heavy impact and flyby jab + fallen abilites in corrupted( and sometimes armor breaker? i mainly play palamonk idol so idk much) and you get big damage
Idol is a Mythic tier spear, requiring a minimum of level 95 and a minimum Intelligence of 120 to wield.
That makes a bit more sense of the situation
But I still would like to use my movement spell as movement rather than bonk. I have 3 other spells that all have various flavors of bonk, I don’t need a 4th
Me when I look a little up and I still go through the mob as if I didn’t have flying kick
it may be "good" but i like going places, not watching my momentum disappear because i hit a goober
use aerodynamics to not hit said goober
use the power of looking up
aerodynamics is less helpful that that imo
in that case i would just do what the other guy said, and look up to not activate flying kick but thats i n c o n v e n i e n t
also i have to go around the enemy when i'd rather just go through them
its not really a proper downside. like a proper downside is dealing less damage for more movement or something im okay with. but like something that makes the game actively worse and annoying is just bad game design
That just makes flying more clunky, and actually slower
Aerodynamics is slower, but I fail to see how it would be clunkier
aerodynamics is a bandaid solution. what if the space is tight like multiple caves in lootruns. plus you’re sacrificing a lot of speed for mobility. i’m okay with that but i prefer speed and i shouldn’t be forced to pick an upgrade that makes my movement spell annoying to use just to unlock most of the bmonk tree.
I don't feel aerodynamics has, like, any value at all for avoiding making flying kick trigger; it's all in just not letting the enemy be directly in the spot you're looking
It would be easier to pass straight through an enemy by looking somewhat away from it than to go around it entirely
Flying kick is fine
