Good point. I guess you could make the stat nerf scale so the first few deaths don’t make much of a difference, but after that it starts scaling more and more (staring at 6 soul points or whatever). It could also just keep lowering at the same pace. Thanks for the insight!
soul points in general are just a stupid mechanic
you would need to have at least 12 phds in game design to make them warranted

That being said, any amount of nerfing to your stats the more you die as a punishment is a terrible decision from a game design standpoint
You’re just going to get people to stop playing as their combat capabilities get worse and worse
Hell, if they die the first few times lowering their stats is only going to make it easier for them to lose in the same battle
What good does this serve here?
No losing items? Ok but in reality best option would probably be getting rid of soul points entirely. This is just an (albeit bad) alternative.
