At the moment, nearly every single town and city is involved in at least 1 quest and has a unique reason to go there, usually having some story/lore as well. There are really only 2 exceptions to this: Lusuco and Relos.
Now, these towns are not entirely useless as they each have a secret discovery, a secret library. While I love the concepts of secret libraries and would love for there to be more, I don't think these alone can provide enough content for a town to really be that useful and unique. An argument to be made against this is that Lusuco and Relos are the secondary towns in their respective regions, the snow biome and Corkus. Yet, I still think they should have at least some unique relevance, being at least tied to 1 quest.
Rymek and Maex and 2 examples of "secondary" towns that have great individual content. Rymek plays into its subregion's theme of the wild west no man's land by having bandits and content tied to that. And Maex is the hub of the rebellion in the heights.
Here are some of my ideas on how these towns could be improved:
Lusuco:
- like Rymek, it could have content that plays into the aspects of its subregion, the Ice Canyon, which is meant to be super cold and harsh. The world discovery mentions how hard it is for the citizens to persist here. Maybe content could revolve around the detriment of the harsh cold weather, maybe blizzards/snowstorms
- also it seems the citizens here are some kind of unique race, ice golems or something. This is never really explained, which is odd because Wynn usually makes a big deal of the different races living in the world and the story around them.
Relos:
- For starters, Relos could do with a bank, potion shop, and other amenities
- But most of all, it seems story and content.
- I saw someone make a concept for Relos being overtaken by robots, which could be a cool twist
- Also, I'm guessing the quest to get into Fruma could involve Corkus, so Relos could be a great town to get that content
