#Mythics in Fruma

With the expected higher level cap in coming updates many believe mythics will not be as viable compared to other endgame gear. A possible solution to this could be implementing a system similar to the way calamity mod from terraria functions at the endgame level.

There are certain enchantments that are able to be put on weapons in the endgame which change the way the weapon works. A few examples are:

Dealing damage increases defense and damage but defense damage taken is increased.

Causes the damage output of this item to discharge from exhaustive use. Its damage returns naturally when not being used. It starts off with more damage than it normally would have.

When attacked, or over time, demon portals appear near you. If sufficiently damaged they are friendly; otherwise they attack you. They become angered if a portal is damaged.

Some ideas like this implemented to mythic weapons as sort of an “enchanting” smaller version of a major ID could be interesting to see and could potentially make up for the fact that stat wise, many weapons will outclass mythics with a level cap update.

Let me know if there are any suggestions.

Mythics in Fruma

I like this and thought of it before and am so glad someone made this suggestion, but I am in no power to make this a reality

#

And it is good that I am not in that power because if I was terrible things would be happening

i would say all mythics aren’t made to be equal but i agree if new fruma mythics aren’t unique or are direct upgrades to other mythics then this would be a cool implementation to keep a balence between old mythics

honestly i think your ideas are closer to major ids and we don’t need to add another level of complication

#

that being said the item team is very aware of the issues/expectations around fruma mythics

  1. items level 100 and above all use the level 100 baseline, so there shouldn't be powercreep
  2. supposedly, tomes are meant to serve as the progression point here (which obviously completely conflicts with their implementation, but I thought I'd mention it)

I also think that the item team knows to make the gap between current endgame weapons (~lv 100) and the proposed future endgame (~lv 120) much much less extreme than the gap between lv 80 and current endgame weapons

(and if there are new mythics that get added which are similar to existing ones we’ll make sure both are relevant)

well, the second point is the intent, supposedly

I've said it a bunch but thats only the case for now with the level cap being 105

hollow coral

of course it's not applicable in practice, basically every single aspect of tomes runs counter to that intent

funny story though idk if fruma mythics will exist

#

maybe! maybe not. i would lean towards there being at least a few but unsure

Hm, pretty sure small differences in damage get exacerbated by tomes/multiplicative sources of damage

I just hope mob baseline keeps moving even if players don't because at this point sky islands is the same mob difficulty as SE... Depsite their age difference. Don't need a third one of the same difficulty

morph cspring users when they can't one shot random skymobs 😭

This seems really complicated instead of just keeping the current level 100 baseline like usual

another idea is to make fruma mythics a bit more niche than the ones we alr have, or to design them to be good secondary weapons that can fit in a lot of builds!!

anyway, i can't leak specific details or even really general plans at this stage, especially since not that much is set in stone, but I/we are aware of the worry that current mythics wont be meaningful with fruma and i can say that one of our primary goals is to not make existing endgame items obsolete. this covers both mythics and the general endgame item pool—we do not want the fruma update to make things go from top-tier to irrelevant.

the IMs and salted have already worked together to make some important internal decisions for going forward, and i think we're headed in a pretty solid direction. personally i am not a fan of this suggestion, in part because i think it isn't really in the spirit of what the wynn item pool is, and in part because for post-fruma updates we would be locking ourselves to a system that prioritizes old items over new ones
