#I think this is a good change, however-

Gonna give my honest opinions here. I think the forums system for your-work is much healthier in regards to allowing artists and other creators to have their content viewed more easily. It's much more organized and you can easily see the images corresponding to each forum without the chatter in between

It also gives artists and creators an option to just have a forum dedicated to their work that is constantly updated as new content is put out, so that people are able to keep up and follow the things they may have missed

My only concern is, similar to guild community and trade market, there is a community of regulars in your-work who mostly all know each other, and only have this common channel to chat with each other. Having a channel for chatter other than the general chats isn't and shouldn't be expected, but it would still be nice to have a place where we can keep the loose and chill vibes of the your-work community without it all taking place in separate forums

overall, a healthy change, but weakens the community connection between the regular content posters, as well as the content enjoyers

Keeping#your_work 1) archiving, removing it would remove access to tons of old works 2) it could be renamed and turned into a more chatlike place for creators

#

I think that would work

Or even if it was just "art discussion" where people could get input on wip/ideas that they come up with, so that there's still a channel where everyone can easily be involved, but is still art focused. Then leaving the forums channel for completed works

i have nothing to shit on this so ill just say you have a fair point

#

still though I imagine the interactions will get way lower, considering the nature of human is lazy, switching between channels is probably enough to let them dip earlier than they used to, simply ending up ignoring earlier works

#

and from past experience with forum again, whatever used it either gradually died or just went unused

I've seen other servers turn art channels into forums- the trouble is that the freeform nature of a standard channel allows for better visibility and feedback as compared to the thread system

#

so inevitably, every single time, the channel becomes super inactive and more difficult to search through, especially since discord search functions in threads are really buggy

#

threads basically serve the exact same function as forums do in this instance, and better because they don't completely remove freeform discussion

#

alongside being easier to search within

#

that, and forums clogs up the sidebar, like look at this already. threads do as well, but since those are opt-in and not the only way to see work it's fine- more manageable. you haven't got that option with forums, and I keep noticing forums threads disappearing as well

#

so the work isn't there consistently

#

@untold sentinel

#

overall this is trying to solve a problem that didn't really exist before, and just letting threads exist in your work does every single thing you say forums do for organization's sake and for visibility/clutter reduction without taking away the good freeform atmosphere of a standard channel

#

does that make sense

#

that, alongside the immediate and intense backlash from people, and

#

since this was implemented there's been way, way less actual input into the forum compared to your work

#

so it's less accessible in immediacy, gets less attention because forums threads are also more effort in every regard

#

and people are lazy

ive not seen a single person complain about how it was handled before, how did they think this was a good idea

#

it worked perfectly fine before and the only complaint ive seen was like making a seperate channel for videos but that was literally it

#

I don't think there was any issue with how the channel was conducted before either, but if the change is inevitable, there are at least pros and cons and ways to improve it, for sure

#

no real reason for it when the most anyone's been able to support it is by saying "well it isn't necessarily worse"

The fact is that it's salted's server and he's able to change it and organize it as he pleases. We can complain, but at the end of the day it's not our call to make and we can either use it as it is or not use it at all, and the first is the more likely option

#

feedback forum works well enough, the most issue people were able to take with it was the loss of the original channel and discussions therein

#

but dropping the your work channel removes so much previously done art

modest dome
#

not if the change is turning the toilet upside down and running the water pipe into the shower drain

#

we just act like everything's inevitable and negative changes like these won't change cause well "no one said anything"

#

squeaky wheel gets the grease, yknow?

#

Deleting thousands of artwork just feels like a shit move too

#

I dont really mind too much since a bunch of mine is reposted in wynnfics or just saved but there is a insane amount of art from multiple years stored in there

#

Also the fact that no one wants to have 15 extra channels under the forums because they wanted to follow each post

#

Even just sending a “nice art” in the channel will stick you in there until the end of time

#

Also, salted’s decisions are not infalliable

#

So naturally people will complain if they don’t like it like

u can leave threads by right clicking them

I wont even post in the new thing if the old one gets deleted

#

If the old one gets deleted whats stopping him from deleting the new one sometime in the future?
