Makes sense. In a similar situation to this I have made excellent use of the option to mute a channel temporarily. It's a good middle ground between my usual notification setting and forgetting about the channel completely, though I try to only use it if the notifications are legitimately starting to get on my nerves

It's more like "they were already in because of a champ slot". Someone leaving just means a slot in the champ quota can be freed up so they don't let more non-champs in.

This would be an accurate analogy if, instead of one really big order, it was a bunch of people walking up in front of you holding some sort of pass they paid for, and the cashier had no concept of "hey maybe I should stop occasionally to handle people that were standing here for the last hour" because they should just "go buy the pass"
Although also, some of those passes might be gifted, among other things, so bear that in mind before you get angry or taunt an individual champ.
