Death is very very bad. Progress is halted by great minds going away, loss of family and friends is really tough, and it is something we've steadily been working to push out (increased lifespans due to health and soceital improvements)

the end goal of us pushing that timeline out is to effectively

I think death is a worst case scenario. Especially online where smart alecs like to say they would want to die rather than live forever, I really don't think they understand the absolute certainty of dying. Just about anything is better than death. I focus on the big upsides to long term planning you could go with an immortal populace, and progression and knowledge building that can come from it. However we get there, I think that is the final goal that needs to be hit. We need to stop people from dying.
