In SilkSong, you can heal 3 health with just a right click. You need to hit around 7 enemies for enough "Silk". Taking damage not only interrupts this, but also takes your "Silk" away anyways||

I'll give you a scenario

||Bosses in SilkSong are much more aggressive. And deal 2 damage and tend to have things like Grabs and Combos, unlike base Hollow Knight which has none of that. Additionally, a lot of the bosses add difficulty by summoning minions. If you don't get hit by the boss, you'll likely just get hit by the minions instead, which can ALSO grab, combo, and deal 2 damage. (This doesn't happen in base Hollow Knight). So if you aren't careful with timing your healing, you'll get interrupted, losing ALL your silk AND taking another 2+ damage||

1. its called quests
2. you dont have to do only quests theres a lot of other content you can do to level
3. some levels have multiple quests on them
4. most quests give 1/3 or 1/2 the required xp to reach the next level, so it shouldnt be an issue anyways
