||dess has some kind of connection to stars. there's stars on the wall in her room, you could call her a "fallen star" since she was an aspiring musician who went missing before she could get anywhere. the Knight's elements are DARK/STAR, and it uses stars in a couple of attacks. then, there's this book in the lost where the forest would grow room, which talks about a fallen star. when it says "It looked like glass." it's an obvious reference to the Shadow Crystals apparently looking like glass when checked. the Knight has some connection to Shadow Crystals, given it drops one when defeated (i've seen it suggested that they are made out of shadow crystals and you chipped one from their body during the fight), and has some kind of connection to both Jevil and Spamton. put the pieces together, and this book could be alluding to the knight's origin and connection to dess||

||the knight parallels kris' poses, which tend to be a bit goofy and silly. the knight likes to toy around with the fun gang and susie, afterall the whole fight with them could've not happened if it was serious, it could've just done what it does at the end of the fight from the start, or what it did to tenna. also look at the fucking rude buster dodging cutscene before it makes a fountain while looking at susie and smiling. right before it opens the fountain, it just smirks. it crosses its arms and smiles as it looks back on susie. imo this enough is evidence that it's not carol, as she is cold, calculated, and would probably just get the job done rather than play around. she wouldn't laugh at susie's threats or wait for ralsei to say "don't open a fountain", she just would. secondly, cyberworld, the DECEMBER cutscene with noelle, saying "dess wanted to bring me somewhere like this, with shining lights". we KNOW the knight made cyberworld. noelle spent a lot of time play pretending with the laptop, and I doubt carol would remember such a thing, but dess would, and so she'd make queen the chapter boss, like how kris turns on tenna before opening the fountain, or how the knight would've put spade king into power, knowing kris played with that card as a kid. thirdly, when the knight swoons tenna, the damage numbers we see are red. now sorry if you didn't notice it but carol's whole deal is blue, not red. and who of the holidays is connected with red? ...a red guitar, speaking of objects in dess' room, the left handed argument, the blade the knight forms looking more like a baseball bat than a katana (it's likely not literally either or, but it looking more like a bat leans closer to dess if you ask me). another thing, dess is known for playing rough with kris, and wouldn't you think attacking them but not swooning them could refer as playing rough? knowing them (and potentially even working with them) likely makes them mutually not deal as much damage to eachother||

||i do think theres something going on with carol but she isnt the knight. heres my theory:
first of all, why she's so hard on noelle, and why she immediately dislikes susie. i think this is because she blames dess' disappearance on her rebellious attitude. she evidently cares a lot about dess, given she's kept her room in perfect quality. now, we know from noelle's dialogue that carol forces her to be a certain way, though she says she wishes she could "be more like" Susie. this makes it strange that dess seems to have been allowed to get away with all the punk rock stuff, right? well, it'd make sense that Carol only started being so restrictive after dess went missing. she's so harsh to noelle because she doesn't want to lose her either. the reason she immediately dislikes susie and doesn't want her to hang out with noelle is because she can obviously tell that susie is rebellious just by looking at her (she may also have heard it from Toriel) and doesn't want her influencing Noelle's attitudes.||

||second, what's going on with her and the shelter. while i don't think carol is the knight, i do think there's something weird going on with her and the shelter. i think the shelter is where Dess disappeared. it's locked both to protect the public from whatever may have caused dess to vanish, and to keep the crime scene untouched. the symbols on the lock represent the three people entrusted with parts of the code, these being Carol, the police chief, and Alvin. it's why Alvin tells you to stay away from the shelter when asked about it - he knows what went down there. it's why the shelter is apparently the only thing that ever scared Undyne. the circumstances of Dess' disappearance were incredibly mysterious and hard to explain. this is hinted at by the fact that Noelle has an interest in true crime and paranormal videos - she watches them in case they can reveal something about what happened to dess. Undyne is scared because it's a genuinely creepy place where disturbing things have happened. ||

||im like 90% sure there'll be a point in the story where we have to go back to the place from the start of the dark world section in chapter 1, since mr society went up there (suggesting we may get to talk to him there later). i also think the castle town fountain is going to be an important location at some point. i've got a theory that the castle town dark fountain is actually the same one from the shelter, Ralsei seems to view the dark world as 1 interconnected landscape, and he can see other fountains on the horizon when they open (evident from the chapter 1 prophecy cutscene). this makes it strange that he seems to not know of the fountain in the shelter. it'd make sense if the supply closed contained some kind of shortcut to the shelter in case of an emergency, and as a result, they're both the same dark world. i'm not sure though, because ralsei does not seem to have any kind of ulterior motive, and i feel that he'd probably know there's more to his dark world behind the fountain door.||

||its also the fact that the castle town fountain is described as "a fountain of pure darkness", when the knight potentially has some connection to all the "darker than dark" stuff. in chapter 4, there are titan spawns around even when the stronger fountain hasnt been created, all of them in the areas that are too dark to see in. thus, it makes sense if the titan spawns can form in places that are REALLY dark, not just when a titan has been summoned. the knight has a similar design to the titan spawns, being vanta black with a white outline (unclear how important this actually is since Shadowguys also follow this design logic).||
