Eventually got this stupid idea to make it more about long battles, tanking and support:

Sacred surge applies smite stacks, mobs take +0.3% damage and deal -0.2% damage per stack, also each smitten stack increases the reflection/thorns damage tremendously (like 10% of your hp as damage per stack), prob this one could be a mythril skin perk, using up mantles could also apply smitten stacks with that explosion ability

Then you could charge up to 50-100 stacks, maybe more with aspects and certain ability tree upgrades

Sacred surge hits 4 times per hit, so i think 16 with a good quadruple bash sounds fair enough considering that you'll have to get hit enough times to charge 100 strikes, you would need like 150-200% total sacred surge in the best case scenario to fully smite your target
