the most archetypes generally affect about item building is how much mana you need for continuous spellcasting
which just means more power budget to invest on damage or tankiness
mage is very forgiving, but you can easily make do with archer if you're a bit careful
despite inherently taking less damage, the melee classes struggle a bit more since range is just very useful in a ton of situations
and just a protip, usually when people talk about "melee" like melee damage on an item, they mean normal attack damage. I referred to warrior/assassin as melee classes because they're literally close range, not in the way that they have anything more to do with normal attacks than the ranged classes
