When people are doing seasons, the sidequests get neglected in favor of the battle tower since that's the only thing that counts to seasonal points and exp, and since the battle tower doesn't offer rewards other than money, players are pouring their time into the battle tower and not grinding for sidequest rewards that they may be after. My suggestion is to make sidequests count towards the season as well, and if the battle tower also gives rewards every so many battles as well, then every 100 battles or so in the tower may give a random prize that's availaible in the sidequests (any region). This keeps the items rare as it's a coin flip what prize from what sidequest region that you get.

My main gripe with sidequests is the inability to choose a region to do first, having to start over from Kanto and going through regions in the same order again. The main argument against choosing a region was that people would spam reset sidequests to do that region over and over for that region's prizes, but that's already an issue anyway for Kanto. People spam Kanto over and over to get its rewards and it reduces their value compared to later regions. I think that all regions should have equally rare and valuable rewards, even Kanto. Choosing a region to do can be balanced by locking the region after you finish it (so you can't do it again until sidequests are reset) and preventing a sidequest reset until at least 50% of the total sidequest is done. This will not only make sidequests more customizable, it will also prevent people from spamming the same region consecutively, including Kanto, forcing them to do a different region next if they didn't get what they wanted from the previous region. munch_popcorn

I deleted a bunch of my old posts because they are no longer relevant. My previous reply is just an opinion (and a reply to a previous post) on how the order of sidequest regions feels repetitive, so it can be taken as a grain of salt now since the idea was already turned down. The main idea with sidequests now is to suggest for them to count towards seasonal score like the battle tower, that way sidequests don't need to be neglected when players are doing seasonal grinding. Either that or make sidequest prizes randomly given every 100 or so battle tower battles? (With the same rarity as in sidequests.) 🤔

The mystery of what awards you can get and grinding to get to them is the main thing I like. I just get bored repeating the same regions in the same order and I don't like that Kanto can be done again with resets, but that's just me. XD Battling for too long would make anyone bored though. I don't even know how seasonal players can do over a thousand season tower battles/catch hundreds of Pokemon in one day and maintain their sanity. No wonder they usually get 1st on the board, they play 24/7, LOL. But anyways, it's not possible to give everyone 100% what they want so it's reasonable that sidequests stay as they are for now until the devs decide when new things are needed.

Still might be a good idea for sidequests to offer seasonal score though, but we'll see what Patrick thinks. That might make the battle tower useless though, unless players just want to battle certain opponents only available there or are doing events related to the battle tower. This can be remedied by making the battle tower also rarely offer a sidequest-based reward from any region at random every 100 battles or so, or gives its own set of distinct rewards. That would give people more incentive to do both the battle tower and sidequests during a season instead of neglecting one in favor of the other.

I believe the reason we got the battle tower in the first place was so Patrick could eventually scrap side quests altogether. Something to do with it being awkward to have to add new ones with every new region. Then prizes would be earned at random points in the season battle tower similar to the darkest day event

That makes sense actually. With the new Pokemon regions coming out, the way sidequests work now would take forever to get to the latest regions when you start over the sidequests. Without a randomized system like how the Battle Tower is random battles, it becomes repetitive doing it in the same order and taking forever to get to the new region. Battle Tower's system would be perfect for if the sidequests are incorporated into its system instead. The rewards from certain regions could be given out in a similar order to how the Darkest Day event worked (though I wasn't on Pokemon Vortex during that event sadly). I wonder if we'd also see some former sidequest battles appear in the Battle Tower too, like the level 130 or up legendary Pokemon battles.

I also heard something about the Battle Tower also being made to solve the issue of players relying solely on "immune training" to get seasonal points more quickly. It was way too easy (but also boring) to continue repeating the battles with a low level Pokemon with a type immunity against the training accounts, so the Battle Tower was a good idea to prevent this and to make battles more unique and randomized.

Thought about something else. When sidequests do get phased out eventually and their content added as battle tower rewards, what would this mean for regional variants of Pokemon (Hisuian Zorua, Alolan Exeggutor, etc) and those that evolve based on region (Magneton, Nosepass, etc)? Perhaps the battle tower could have a randomly selected regional tag every so many battles?

They'll unlock from doing said region's gym battles, like legendaries.
