Dear NCSoft,
Why is the status effect chance not 100% in PvP?
For PvE, this stat doesn't matter at all. However, for competitive PvP, reliable status effects are crucial for creating balanced, skill-based gameplay. Right now, NCSoft is planning to introduce so-called "competitive PvP" to Aion 2. This is an inherent contradiction if there isn't a 100% chance to land status effects—a flaw we already saw in Throne and Liberty. You learned from that mistake, at least regarding pure damage, which players are now able to land 100% of the time in Aion 2. As long as a character build or gear is optimized correctly, skills should land their status effects 100% of the time (or at least the vast majority of them). This is the only way to recreate the highly praised, competitive PvP of Aion 1, which would give Aion 2 a massive boost.
Why is this still not the case? Aion 2 has been out for half a year now. And no, it's not an excuse to say the game is "PvE-oriented." If a game includes even a single PvP component, that mode must feel rewarding and responsive. With the current RNG-heavy and burst-damage-based PvP, the experience isn't even enjoyable for PvE players.
Community quotes like "PvP lasts 5 seconds—whoever hits first wins. It doesn't compare to Aion Classic PvP where you actually had counterplay" say it all. This is not the right direction, NCSoft! Give skills a 100% status effect chance and allow players to land them reliably if they have invested in the right build and gear.
Thank you for your time, and I hope you will take this into account for future updates.
