Most lines in tokyo either through run onto the subway or terminate along the yamanote line ie ikebukero, shinjuku, meguro etc
Mhm
Most of the current lines pass along the Yananote rather than terminating downtown
Idk how to explain
I basically did more though running and it's a royal pain but if you set up the correct siding tracks it's not too bad
So they interchange with the yamanote line?
That too
More subways means more station boxes in the city
It's unavoidable
The hilly terrain also makes it difficult to hide elevation changes
I've been slowly working on adding new lines, I'm going to rework my Chuo line as to have more realistic frequencies, this includes the chuo local line which will through run into the subway as to spice things up
I've reworked Chuo
It's simpler rn, only 2 branches each operating at 10tph
They meet for 20 tph but there are no express services rn
It didn't make much sense tbh
One problem I have is that idk how I'm going to fit limited express trains in the incredibly packed schedules
IDK if anyone asked before but what gamescript does this game use?
Do you do industries or just pax?
For now it's only pax but I plan on adding a shitton of freight later on
wonder how I should through run the orange line, through the red line to fake shinjuku or through the green line to the downtown
neither the red nor green lines exist yet btw
but I'm not sure how I should manage this
maybe the green one is the best option? there isn't much downtown coverage rn
or neither and have a terminus there! or have a terminus there and a small spur just before the terminus that interlines it with the green line, with some trains staying on the orange and some going through to the green
I like the idea of a small spur, I think I'll do that. Thanks!
spoiler for the first limited express service
Should be a rather nice looking route
No
ffs it's one line in your powershell
I know I already asked this but what do limited express trains do after terminating at a station like Tokyo? Do they continue onto a depot/yard until their next departure or what?
I really can't find anything online about this
maybe I'm not looking in the correct places but I really have no idea
for regular running ones like the Thunderbird, I believe they just reverse in the station
Yeah I was thinking of lower frequency services
I might need to add more platforms for reversing trains tho
In some of my stations at least
I'm renovating fake shinjuku to accomodate limited express trains
I'm afraid that the metro network will be a little blocky
It's just too difficult to incorporate diagonals in anything
a bit like beijing metro lol, I'll see if I can make it look better with the tram as metro lines which are a tad easier to hide
thinking about airports
I think this is a decent plan, the blue line is a Narita express like narrow gauge service while the purple one is a shinkansen shuttle
(Of course Shinkansen service would start at Mokyo)
The yellow airport would be an artificial island served by a shuttle service that connects to the orange line (maybe it could be a monorail?)
you can try something like the Osaka metro
For the ones at shinagawa and ueno, they generally have enough platforms for turning around, though they have a few turnaround tracks that terminate aft of the platform
That's why Hitachi and tokiwa terminate at shinagawa instead of tokyo
For the limited express asusa I'm pretty sure the timetable accommodates a longer dwell time at tokyo for the services that terminate there
At shinjuku I'm pretty sure there are some stabling tracks too
what would y'all think of a hyper-urbanized island with a shinkansen connection?
I was thinking one of these two, maybe the green one if i wanted something along the lines of hong kong
I think it could be quite cool and unique
potentially a different state entirely with it's own gauge and trains
Of course this is a future project but I think it could be very interesting
That would look very cool!
How big is the map?
Connect all the cities by rail and make it look pretty with all the object sets
4k x 4k but a good chunk of it is water
I'm placing the cities myself so it's all up to me rn
Yes you can place all infrastructure as you wish
I sure can
maybe something like jeju? (large island with big cities and enormous tourism, also seoul to jeju is the busiest flight pair in the world with metro like frequencies if you want to do planes)
and lots of greenhouses on the southern half of the island
Could be something like that, could be something like Okinawa
But I'm not sure If I want to put the focus on tourism
I'd like some industrial importance though the lack of railway freight would be discouraging to say the least
well, again most of jeju's land is used for some quite intensive agriculture
the southern half of the island as I say has city sized patches of enormous greenhouses
...well those islands are pretty big though
but that's true
Yeah I've looked around in google maps for a bit, cool stuff
there is actually a long discussed plan for a jeju train tunnel with just how much traffic it has
Long ass tunnel
still, my thought is that you do already have one big enormous industrialised mega city you're building out, so it might make sense for another one to be more touristy, with agriculture on the side (japanese suburbs especially tend to mix quite a bit with agricultural uses) maybe some international conferences as well (jeju hosts quite a few of those for some reason)
Fair, I do have a tourism oriented island already tho
But I think your point is quite fair
Everything's nice and awesome until you have to add local services :/
I'm mostly done with a new line + a single track branch with a limited express service
I think I need to learn a bit more about single-track scheduling tbh
I've been cooking up a Tobu inspired line and it's probably going to be the most complex one to date, it has trains terminating at a major junction station (shinjukuish) and through runnign into the metro as well as a 4-track section and at least 2 limited express services, one serving a mountain resort at the end of a single track line
also it splits it has one main line and a little branch where I plan to terminate most through running services
I have to bake a cake but I'll share some pics and diagrams soon
Hi!!!
I forgot to send the pics
cake was nice tho
Not sure which kind of services I'll do, rn I have a rapid/express service running from the northernmost yellow terminus to fake shinjuku and a limited express from a resort at the end of the red line to fake shinjuku. I also have a local service in the red line
I think the shorter branch of the mainline should have an express, a local (or maybe semi-express) to fake shinjuku and a through running local service
I'm very close to making the express part of the tobu line run smoothly
If what I'm doing now works the level of smoothness will be unmatched
For context: there is a semi-express service every 20 minutes, an express one every 10, a limited express one every hour and another limited express one every 2 hours
each service has a different stopping pattern which makes timetabling more complicated
Started work on the airport while I wait for night
the area with signs is supposed to be a freight terminal and that weird building is the train station, served by a narrow gauge line that runs through and a shinkansen line
more work on the airport
It's so fucking big idk what I'm going to fill all the space with lmao
Probably a shitton of parking
I'm sure that it'll look really cool once it's done tho
The scale really helps to make it look good imo
I think I should shift the highway one tile down, I don't like the current setup with the road underneath, makes it feel a tad cramped
Hangers, plane infrastructure maybe a cargo warehouse or 2
Daum though the runway is gigantic
Makes the planes seen too small
could add a cross runway as well
can be a bit shorter but something to use when the wind changes
i guess it depends though on where the airport is in relation to the land around it
near the ocean might not need one
That’s a huge airport
I always underestimate the land use required and then wonder how I’m going to use all the airport objects
Impressive
are there not going to be any taxiways between the two parts of the airport? that seems a little strange
Yes I just reaized that
Was about to comment about it
It's an easy fix tho, just bury the highway
yeah basically thinking the same thing
was going to say though, now that's a proper airport
I like my airports big and stinky
Thinking about all the parkin lots I'll have in the airport
Parking lots and airports go hand in hand
All of this is to avoid doing real work with the trains of course
made some progress on the airport
This is probably my most insane eyecandy project to date
finished
I still want to add some fencuing and farmland around but the airport itself is done
That's fantastic, I was about to get started on my version of narita on my game too haha
Really well done
Thanks! I still need to add train service and beautify the area
How long is the runway?
Around 70 tiles
Ah
Probably need it to be that long to make it realistic
I keep making the runways only 12-15 tiles long
planning a looooong route
it's been a while since I posted here lol
I decided to cut one shinkansen platform at mokyo as to handle limited express trains gracefully
I could've shoved them in the commuter platforms but it wouldn't be realistic for 2 door trains to stay for so little time
I'm getting back to this today lol
I've been gifted derail valley and that has kept me quite busy for the weekend
Bowomp
having a blast of course
what grf are you use ?
that fine im working on getting the jp+ grf working but i have not got clue what is needed and what is not
Any chance you have finished this? Can only imagine it will look gorgeous when completed
Sorry, I've been very busy these weeks. Hopefully I'll get some free time to finish it soon
Don't be sorry, I just keep checking the thread at work so I thought I'd ask 😂 ❤️
I've satarted work on a city near Mokyo while I regain mental fortitude to tackle more suburban lines tho
I'm quite happy with how this downtown is turning out
I really like that station building, might steal it at some point 👀
That's such good news! Station buildings are not my strong suit and I was worried that it wasn't good.
It has a nice renovated 70s building feeling
yh its giving Okayama vibes with the double wide road which is cool
ye the HSS stairs and canopy combo is coolio
I wish we had those little sheds' backview too, would be be very useful for symmetry
I'll maybe suggest those to Flogeza someday
That's sweet!
Btw if you are wondering where is the Shinkansen it's a bit farther north to keep the alignment good
I revently rediscoverd Zyliety's plant set which has these AMAZING cherry trees
So you'll be seeing a lot more pink from now on
This downtown is quickly becoming one of my favourite projects and I'm yet to make the beach and port
Maybe a canal or water feature of some sorts could look good too?
Though I'd like to finish the boulevard and beautify some other stuff first
Also chuffing stations is a godsend
ye the trees and animal set from Zyliety are both cool. The tiled sakura tree is quite nice and the Animals set has some great empty fences
Yep, amazing stuff for little details here and there
I appreciate the different floor varieties too
What should I add to this city? In case you are wonderinh I already have a big park further south
Maybe some industry stuff near the coast?
like a small port/warehouse area
also a sports stadium (probs baseball or football) could fit the vibes if you feel like it
This one's already on my to-do list for this city, also a nice and big intermodal yard.
This one's good, thanks!
Not the city exactly but maybe a racing track at the edge of the greater city area/countryside
That would be cool too ngl
Maybe you could see it from the shinkansen?
hard at work with this small city, mostly getting the grid in now before I start adding more features
also I need to learn how race tracks work lol
I plan to add some beaches and a port area with rail connections
but for now the grid has all of my attention
I also need to perfect that transition between urban and rural right
Japanese urbanization is weird with that, there are like pockets of housing surrounded by fields
Freight terminals are so weird
I try to read the diagrams and I just don't get how the operations work
I'd like to make a nice and big container terminal for this city so I'm open to suggestions for replicas
I like to make dedicated arrival/departure (yard) tracks and then branch out to specific freight terminals.
basically don't share a common station/hub with multiple industries or cargo pickup/drop points directly.
a basic layout is something like this
go wild with your designs !!!!
also you can categorize the cargoes in certain groups and make dedicated yards for them to look cool
ex.
Ahh i forgot about this, built in S3.
Upper 2 black stations Ammonia plant & Chlor-akali plant.
Lower SW black station is a Bulk Terminal and SE black station is just a normal liquid pickup/drop point.
Considerable amount of shunting operations.
tbh S3 has lot of examples that other players have built.
Linux player?
Thanks a lot! I'll see how to fit something like this in my area but I really like the concept.
I'm too lazy to fill this area with streets, what should I put here?
Park
beer
Or one of the cats from that cat object grf
Beer???
is this what you normally order from the bartender?
The roads for this small city are mostly done
It's a satellite city of Mokyo, sprawl will continue to the east but as a part of another town
what happened vrp
I got invited to a server and played on that for a while :p
I did finish kodaira
