Since there was at least some demand for it, I'll post more screenshot of my game here. It's gonna hopefully be a longer game that I can use to playtest my UKRS rewrite, so hopefully I don't break things down the road! I'm playing on a modified version of andysine's Mountains and Prairies scenario.

And let's start things off with a bit of an overview image of the network as it currently stands ;>

#

Everything is so far based around the big city of Thykion and the smaller cities it has assimilated. There are plans to expand further, but it's only 1880, and the mountain pass out to other cities has very limited room for a railway network; it will be built soon, but volume will be low for a long while to come. After all, I don't want to demolish the river that runs there, nor do I want to entirely get rid of the road through the mountain pass either. The more things I preserve the better, even if I'll most likely never run road vehicles.

Still, there are matters at home to take care of first. The city of Crownkeep, home to the royal palace, is also suffering from Poor Station Design. Trains come in from 3 different directions, one train wants to go across the junction, and there's less space to rework than there was at Bliss. Additionally, there's hopes to turn the empty land around Bayview and Outlook to the North West into an industrial site, which would mean even more rail traffic.

Also shown are the large plot of land I've reserved for a potential terminal for trains coming from further away in the bottom, and the current Royal Palace in the top right; though the Royal Family is considering having a new palace built further away from the growing city of Crownkeep.

Another problem child for the company is bsaically the entirety of the network based out of the city of Vision. Located directly across the bridge from Thykion-Bliss, it's a small network serving only three other cities and a grain elevator - and the cross-bridge service to Thykion-Bliss - that has been hemmed in by the growing towns. The situation isn't too bad yet, but it could definitely be better.

#

In terms of locomotives being used; the majority of the suburban routes around Thykion use the 4-4-0T 'Metropolitan B', with local passenger services to Brancrug and Velvet using 2-2-2 'Lady' tender engines. For freight services, the 0-4-2T 'Armstrong' and 'D-Tank' locomotives were popular, but have now primarily been replaced with 0-6-0T 'Half-Cab' locomotives, except on the Vision Railway, where they haul grain trains and the passenger services are hauled by 0-6-0T 'Terrier' locomotives.

That's actually only just become available this game-year for me; I use a personally-modified version of SUKTS that has Wide Ballast 'Mainline' tracks that become available in 1880, most of the railway so far is 'Branch Line' tracks which do not come with wide ballast

Phase 1 of the Crownkeep Revamp. Design is not final, but now trains serving the peninsula itself use a separate station. Additionally, while freight services have been temporarily suspended, there's a plan to build an elevated railway to get to the site where i'd like to build an industrial harbour, but that will take demolishing several houses

And finally, renovated Crownkeep. Had to demolish several houses, but in doing so have also freed up plenty more land to build more houses. Freight Trains will pass over the viaduct to/from the to-be-built industrial site

Slowly building my way up the mountain pass...

I have, unfortunately, somewhat worked myself into a corner with this harbour; two of these need Coal Coke to function, and the coal coke produced only gets delivered to one...

Industrial docks are now functional, now time to decorate. Coal and Iron Ore gets brought in, and some shunters ferry around the coke and steel to turn it into goods on-site to be shipped off to elsewhere

the Mountain Pass railroad is mostly done. We've reached Nicholson on the other side of the mountains, so cross-mountain trains will likely be a thing soon. For now, a passenger train service has been established (red) servicing the mountain towns of Stormont, Totogan, Keremeos, Teshme, Blanchard, Cadomin and Crest, running 0-6-0 'Dean' tender engines; though these are primarily intended for goods services, there is no expectation that I'll be running fast trains through the mountain passes anytime soon, so it felt more fitting to put a (relatively) strong goods tender engine on this route rather than a weaker but faster passenger engine. Additionally, some iron and coal is being extracted and sent down from the mountains already (Yellow arrows)

Building up in the new land on the East of the mountains is already proving very... different. Take this shot of the old network, for example. Busy, crowded, short distances between numerous stops.

#

compared to the vast openness of the plains, where there is a... LOT of distance between where we enter the mountains and the first major city

#

With the cross-mountain line completed, and a station established in the city on the other side, the Grand Central Station has been opened, and the first cross-mountain passenger service has been established

I'm quite happy with this industrial site. It's not finished; there's more factories to add when they become available

#

Though I am facing the distinct problem that building to the East of the mountain pass is uh

#

boring! Big open flat land, long distances between cities and industries means there's little to build beyond long stretches of flat straight track...
