I will go up in steps, taking local (ordinary) trains where needed. Tickets for these trains can only be bought at the station 2 hours before departure, and there are no reserved seats, nor airconditioning

These are two day trips: The one to Ayutthaya (north) is by special excursion: a steam train

The two trips in the south are to Mae Klong, which can also only be done by ordinary/local trains. If it's popular, this means I will have to stand

I am also planning on going to Ubon Ratchathani by day train and returning by night train

I should reserve my night train tickets for that soon

After I leave my stuff at my resort I will drive to the most famous cave and hike to it

I’ll be going here, and the reason I’m not stopping at a closer station like the Sam Roi Yot station is because there are mountains between the railway and the caves! So to actually get to my resort would take so much longer!

Ten minutes stop at 10am at Nakhon Ratchasima, time to grab some breakfast from the vendors already waiting on the platform for the hungry passengers! Since I have been awake since 5:25am I am quite hungry, so this works out well. As my train only has 2nd class cars with air conditioning, there are no vendors on board this train. You will find them on trains with 3rd class cars without air conditioning, because it is cheaper for them and they’ll actually make a profit on selling their goods.
