#Real Trains
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
Oh like that
Yeah now i understand that it can be double yeah
I read it as 2021
Cuz they said in
I reckoned it might've been just poor English
it's 2021
Have some train pics I took in September '21.
September 2001
Took some photos while taking the train to Obernai
Throwback
From what country is that Koploper family relative?
Japan
Oh yeah this is frm japan right?
Yes
looks like a Japanese ICm3
XD
I bet the doors on the front are meant to do the same thing
183 series i believe?
the modern SNCF mu's are nice
at least, they look nice
Like nothing too flash or boring, in that sweet spot for me where I'd be happy to have it in any game if I was building stuff based on looks
ALSO last I checked, france has some decent trains in terms of specs (like speed, power and tractive effort)
they do
they are very confortable for regional trains
compared to the UK
And they also fit very well for slow intercity routes
Compared to a comfy coach bus that has padded seats?
Like inside a MCI D4500CT which has some nice padded seats that feel waaaay better than any computer chair i've sat in
like after a long day of work, slumping into one of these seets feels like heaven
hmm i don't know
Its been a while since I rode a Regiolis
everytime I get an AGC
1Z85 at Dent en-route to Carlisle earlier today.
Nice, i've got a 59 in H0
Can I post here railway photos with no train on it?
idk maybe
True
Pkp Cargo loco with Pkp Intercity train
You can rarely get anything more Polish than this lmao
We need to cook
Jesse
Nice! Had fried eggs same way!
It tasted like coal for me
Gotta love me some crust😋😋
Just a homan and machine ingesting some hydrocarbons
Early morning train
Another train... how did I end up here?
Probably on a plane 😉
Don't take the GatEx tho... take the normal trains that are cheaper...
They're working more now than they have in about 20 years tbf...
That's not even the first 67 I've seen
They're semi-regular into Victoria with Pullman's and such, and used to be scattered around the ECML as Thunderbirds
Ah yes, the rare occasion where GBRf used their own on the sleepers too
So its less useless now?
Do they still do mk3 push pulls?
They run services in/out of Manchester every 2 hours to Cardiff now with Mark 4s
Push-pull jobs, just newer stock.
Ah nice
The Manchester push-pull also interworks with the "Premier" service, which is a 1tpd Holyhead - Cardiff service (alongside the normal service which is typically 1tp2h)
1714 Cardiff to Holyhead calling at the world...
Takes 4 hours and 24 mins, with a quick 5 min reversal at Chester
Not that the Manchester service is much better... 3 hours and 19 mins
It's only 170 miles
Which one you taking? And where to?
11.30 to Edinburgh, just stopped at Peterborough
Ew, Edinburgh stopper...
Take it your on advanced tickets and it was cheapest?
Azuma at Glasgow Central
More interested in the 158 next to it tbf
They're not an amazingly regular sight at Central either these days...
Although why LNER are there in the middle of the day, idk...
ECS both ways, must just be for route knowledge...
The 158 was also ECS transferring from Motherwell to Corkerhill depot
Ahhh, that makes sense... the 158 failed before working the 0559 Motherwell to Edinburgh this morning...
Yes, that's a normal place for one tho Max 😉

damm jake, where will you be in the UK
I am going to the UK tomorrow
and rico will follow half a week later
Normal place for a 318 too 😉
I've had that exact unit to that exact station myself
In 24 hours on that unit, I did Fort William - Mallaig - Crianlarich, and Oban to Glasgow Queen Street
One of a small number of 156s I need, fairly regular one on the WHL
Need the Shed, can't work out which 73 it is due to the pic
Had that set from that station across to Haymarket
969
That's, amusingly, like the only 73/9 I need still
Numbers?
800009 I've had from Cardiff to Paddington and Didcot to Reading
I still can't make out the number on the other set
802018
One of the few 802/0s I still need
387170 Maidenhead to Reading and Maidenhead to Didcot.
345002 Bond Street to Liverpool Street
Yes, with an easy search function
literally his pfp
11th Feb 2019 1702 Exeter St Davids to Taunton
12th Feb 2019 1916 Liskeard to Taunton
Yeah, need that for haulage
802002
Required too
19th May 2023 1014 Exeter Central to Exeter St Davids
Mega 0.775 miles
Still counts
150239, 9 journeys, most recent 18th May 2023, 1044 Starcross to Dawlish
150246, 4 journeys, most recent 20th May 2023 0520 Bristol Temple Meads to Highbridge & Burnham
9 journeys, most recent 18th May 2023, 1044 Starcross to Dawlish 😉
802016
30th November 2019 2207 Taunton to Exeter St Davids
4 journeys, most recent, 22nd April 2023 0900 Exeter St Davids to Teignmouth
This one again:
19th May 2023 1014 Exeter Central to Exeter St Davids
Do you walk through to set for it to count
Impossible with some trains here
Ah
I know people who do mileage by individual carriage in a unit
That seems complicated lol
The carriage numbers are easily visible tbf
So it's just getting the same unit x amount of times
Becomes harder were some carriages are FC only
Front coach only?
First Class
Yeah
A small price to pay for filling in the blanks
Have you run out of pics now? 😂
No but I should really get some more work done haha
Terrible excuse
Don't want to anger the Australians
😂
And pray why on earth is a 158 used to do this service that every hour is usually run by a EMU
Apart from me assuming it’s going round a diesel only curve?
It's a 1tpd thing for driver traction knowledge
Runs the last train from Edinburgh to Motherwell, and the first train back.
Nah, it's 0559 from Motherwell in the morning
Nothing a night of Tennants can’t solve
Having worked the 2313 to Motherwell the night before
Quite the trip
Does a rare, 1tpd, bit of track on the morning run too, but it's fully electrified throughout
I'll be around Edinburgh for the next week or so
the evening of 2nd of august I will pop up for a night in edinburgh
I will do some railways around scotland
As it stands, 0603 Manchester to Edinburgh still running on Saturday...
Then I could take the 1903 Edinburgh to Manchester via ECML back...
I'll be back in London on the 11th
What a coincidence
I uh, will be all over the place
like just one evening in edinburgh just to get a train to mallaig
I'm heading to Edinburgh on Friday
Ill be on the train from glasgow to thurso and back to inverness
How late in Edinburgh
1805
maybe even earlier
depends on the father of a mate of mine who will be showing his model railway layout
Go pack your bag
Easy
Poor bugger
WAAR IS DIT
Dit is fantastisch
🙁
Wtf
Diesel hauled by diesel under overhead wires
Romania moment
UK moment
Or even better UK moment.
Electric hauled by Diesel under wires
this still is one of my favorite uk railway moments
did you know max, that I dont really care about your opinion
👀 video?
Cool, but that wasn't an opinion
sorry I meant ik hoef geen verantwoording af te leggen aan jou
ik vraag jou ook niet verantwoording af te leggen
Are there passengers inside?
yes
Lmao
From the archives! Virgin Class 57/3 57304 GORDON TRACY runs around and couples to Class 390 Pendolino EMU 390011 as they leave Holyhead with the 1414 Euston-Holyhead working. #Pendolino #VirginTrains #Class57 @classictraction
Very cool
this was for a while the regular service to holyhead
something about the avability of 220/221's that virgin rather did not want to put them on service to holyhead
until something forced them to send them anyway
pilot probably knows the details
This is wild
if I recall correctly, the 57 did not provide enough power for the entire 390
so only partialy was used
also the 57's werent so reliable either
they got replaced by this
(after virgin went out and TfW was nationalised)
That's what I would've thought
also this ran while virgin ran
Based
Just like you, I have the power of the internet at my fingertips
Groningen - Cardiff nachttrein
WISSELSTRATEN
doe holyhead, aansluiting boot
Better yes
yes but you already knew this, so you read up on it I meant
I don't usually read through everything that I can find in my field
sometimes I do
there once was a day I didnt know what a train was
now there is a day where I know concession rules for Hoofdrailnet (+100 pages)
Not directly related
The ATW Push-Pull trains have always been on Cardiff - Holyhead, with a few Manchester turns.
The 57 + 390s were replaced by pairs of Voyagers instead, after XC and West Coast got split.
Impressive
idk the french version of this is just cooler
it is
nice
a desiro and the beautiful CFR Clasă 60, what a shot
I have more
send
Turd train
IC4
The only cool thing about them is the fact that they’re diesel mechanical so they sound different
clasă 47 in the back, the red one with a white stripe it's beautiful in person
I think I have a picture of it somewhere
are you romanian?
yeah but the best part is, trains tend to run just as frequent in romania as spain
hehehe
i guess so yeah, but they're slower in romania
spain builds entire high speed lines just to use em 5 times a day
fun fact, the average passanger train speed in romania it's 40kmh
I noticed
I was looking at brasov for like 45 min
while in the train
approaching brasov
well it's the "best" hs system in europe
no its the biggest, not the best
best goes to france without doubt
idk tbf maybe i'm biased
france runs more on time and more frequent for cheaper fares
i only use regionals
I'd probably put italy on 2
in spain there are very cheap options
since the introduction of ouigo, iryo and avlo yes
but whereever they dont ride, the ticket prices tend to be pricey
that's true
depends on what you pay
i have a special ticked with illimited travels in all 6 zones of Barcelona and I have renfe regional (rodalies) for a trimestral subscription
you can go anywhere near bcn but if you wanna leave, ouigo iryo or avlo
For renfe madrid - barcelona between 90 and 170 dependent on time of booking and train time
Mate of mine did reseatch on the market change since the introduction of the 2 other operators
3?
but it's lowcost
that's very interesting
is it private?
On parts of the spanish network where the 2/3 operators dont ride, the prices are still pricey
I wouldnt know and i kinda dont want to risk it
fair fair
Ill share some parts of it via dm or something later
we atleast have a good road and air system
and 70% of spain it's empty so yeah
Its a major advantage for highspeed rail
it is
infrstructure it's easy to build
i mean that there are not a lot of cities in between
i have a graph of the Mad-Bcn line
Graph :)
@glacial yacht rare tilting demostrators. i liek the tubrotrain tilting
do real life trams count?
sure
@glacial yacht thats a NS1100 next to it
this is good
And this is why we hate ticket machines...
Welke kauolo heeft dit kanaal gereactiveerd
Wat is er mis met dit kanaal? Dit is het enige kanaal waar ik mag maxposten van jullie
LNEP
Yep, they really care about their signs. Worse is that its the only one advertising LNER in the Station.
Also, i wonder why they put Turbostars with 158s. It feels wierd.
Maybe @ ePilot knows
thank you for screwing over peoples mobile data lol.....
😄
Mmmm, pantograph on every vehicle on the second one...
these trains have dual current collection systems too; they switch to third rail for the underground portions of the line
Straight from sub arctic/tropical climate
Nice! Have H0 model and it's funny!
wait a minute @boreal musk i think we know this place
is that Mocănița Maramureș?
Ajo
As I was going to St Ives / I met a man with seven wives
Cool, wouter and i looked to plan to go there maybe
We should some time
In planning it only makes realistic sense to go ukraine tho
Let's go
it's really close to the border
Yeah i know, and afaik not too much trains south
nope
only car
depending from where you are coming, get ready for a almost full day in the road
maybe more idk
Well we would be going by train so thats why it's not realistic to go there rn
there's a train line but idk if it's on service
and didn't see any signals to a station
MM it's really bad connected rail-wise
yes but there's also viseu de mijloc
but yes
regional CJ and you're there
and if i'm not wrong, cluj it's connected with hungary
yes it does
just checked
Yes last summer we came from hungary through arad to cluj
ah okay
We had bus replacement across the border actually
arad is more south
borders are confusing in romania
bc you can cross to moldavia by road but can't cross by train without going through customs
and never crossed hungarian border before
Yeah and with Hungary it's just they check your passport (1x in romania 1x in hungary if by train)
Weird
yeah it is
ungheni it's a border town
but there are roads that cross prutu
the river
Btw do you know if there are trains to moldova from galati?
at least that's what my Gpa said bc he lived in a border town
if my geography isnt wrong
moldavia ukraine and romania meet in a 3 point border in galati
Galati is south side of moldova
And ukraine is there too yeah
you want to cross the border or arrive to chisinău for example
Yeah i was thinking maybe you can cross there then go to Chisinau and go back via Iasi
better to cross via iasi
iasi ungheni then you're in moldova
idk if there are any trains
i think in gara socola there's services to moldova
bc it's also a gauge change
yes there are trains to chisinău
i would go to galati to see the south of romania but cross on the nord to go to moldova
do București constanța Galați
and visit small towns in thr mean time
also sibiu
alba
etcetc
ofc timiș
East of donau at galati is devoid of train though untill you reach Constanta.
a lot of zones in romania is low on train service
but yeah better to target big cities in the south
galati iasi
and iasi chisinău
Tulcea branch though
tulcea it's only connected to CT
no
Maybe hire car
Hire car across borders yes
How would that work lol. danube delta has no roads
you can cross via cernavoda
Taking the e scooter
but thats far away
Idk if there are hydrofoils in danube delta still going to ukrian
You can boat to across the border at izmajil but not to izmajil
We should steal the MaxMobiel and cross the border
i would do galati to cross border to ukraine
Yeah there is a bus there
yeah and it's the only road connection
There is border ferry at isaccea
how do you get there?
no trains
galati is well connected from the west, north and south
better to go there and avoid ferries
Yes
idk if there is border in tulcea
i mean maybe CT to tulcea
teah
yeah
that could work
but now it's a social center
still a border technically
I only know there were shitton of passenger hydrofoils around tulcea.
Every 1,5 hours
Nice
Yes but those only go to romanian side of border
€1
This is a great idea
Yes
then you just have to hope the isacca ferry is still open and the border open for foreigners
Yeah
You cna go with boat form Tulcea to Galati for 2 RON? https://navrombac.ro/servicii-si-tarife-galati/
Lol yes
Ah yeah probably
galati its a judet and tulcea its another one
there is a straig line ferry through the danube
from tulcea
these ships mus tby the msot random ferry boats in europe though
Country
danube river vessel in romania are the largest inland ships in europe though
Romanian website has a message about something on 28 7 2023 so not outdated
Romania is the largest ship builder in europe too afaik
that's crazy to think
They will fuel the boat so another vessel tkaes over few hours
very little coast compared with the rest of the most of europe
but if you are correct, something new learned today
Wtf ate these bus lines
Wait constanta Odessa bus
Tblisi-kyiv is 3 days
Wtf are these buses
Mangalia has the biggest yard in europe afaik. Constanta, Tulcea and Galati all have major yards for building ships.
This is good
Go via trukey though
I met a guy in Venezia-Vienna trian who was going tibilis via turkey by train
Cool
Belgian mindset: goes a shit ton of kilometers just to see belgian and luxemburg loco
fr
Its a shame its only 5 locos
True, nonetheless we had a party
And driving up and down those long branches with nothing but what is practically 2 shunting engines is exciting to say the least.
More pictures from the day of and after the festival
Hijack it
Bix
bix?
🇨🇭
ahokay
Some photos from Grängesberg where lots of old rolling stock from the former TGOJ railway are stored. This rail yard is adjacent to a now closed iron ore mine. The last iron ore train left in 1990.
nice
M3t 73 in the last picture is a steam turbine locomotive. It's sister locomotive M3t 71 is preserved there and is the world's only functional steam turbine loco. Unfortunately i didn't find any pictures of it (that were mine)
The Bt-loco in this configuration is my all-time favourite electric-loco, maybe even of all locos. The livery reminds me of soviet locos
I didn't catch this well, had a bad positioning and barely time to pull my camera out, but saw this short train shunting backwards with three men keeping watch
stupid woman...
Im more worried about the guy with the bike in the back
He’s just trying to do his work and deliver some food 🤣
This is the first time I have seen so dense departure board. Location: Hangzhoudong (East) Railway Station.
Can OpenTTD go denser?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to think Tin as Japanese
He's about as Japanese as I am
Damn weebs 😤
I can confirm Tin is as Japanese as Jake is, though I'd say probably a little bit more, but it's hardly a negligible difference
ive been to the sheep pen, none of these JP+ mf's are probably japanese
all imposters (except azusa)
ええええ
NOHAAABB
Blauer Blitz!
Yep, but it didn't go anywhere, it stood there all day sadly
Couldn't take better pictures as there wasn't enough space
Return of fancy paintschemes here!
that looks weirdly narrow
It's because it is tall and far away
Same EP2K with Siemens Viaggio (european loading gauge) wagons.
Why would those wagons have such loading gauge
Bought for Moscow-Berlin trains prior Talgo (Strizh).
Now used as premium wagons where needed
Ah that does make a fair bit of sense
I didn't really see the point since the track gauge is different
There wer trains all the time with bogies exchange where gauge changes.
Moscow-Nice and Moscow-Paris were cool full RZD stock trains.
ran more as a prestige object then actually carrying passengers. usually it was mostly empty. https://flic.kr/p/atRGEx
I saw that stop in Innsbruck once
I can see these coaches in xUSSR set
waiting for restoration, currently in front of a disco named "La loco"
it is verry smol
Most reliable NS train
Driving a little teeny weeny narrow gauge engine
I honestly don't know my German electrics 😅
These 4 are not well known locos, tbf.
But would love to be educated
Hint: that loco belongs to a factory that known for making diesel locos and were never in regular use.
MaK?
i rly only know those in america and canada.
Yep
Its a US loco that have minor changes to it. I'll accept any name: local or of US cousins.
minor?
usually i see locos that are rebuilt almost entirely
Copying pics so no need to switch between tabs.
Smaller fuel tank and downclocked engines
Ah, the last photo looks like an SD90MAC, but those also came in a 4,300hp variant, which is probably more similar
Cw46ah
Close but nope.
Not that old.
Not an SD80MAC?
Nope
Ack battery
I guess could be a type of SD70, I'm just looking at the big space behind the radiator
It is
Sbould I reming you of first category I offered?🤣
Yeah, I figured that wasn't a German electric 😛
Small fuel tank is notable on a close up picture
Oh yeah, smaller for a lighter axle weight?
Yep
Plus it was supposed to use a tender
With liquid gas in it. It can run on a diesel/gas mixture
Neat
Poor quality cause of source (YT video)
looks henschelly
Why?
Shape maybe, but otherwise nothing in common
As for that "American" loco, it is EMD SD42ACeLW
Or 2ТЭ3250
I do like how American loco looks on Siberian rails
Nah it's a DE1024 with a panto stuck to the roof
this thing never ran but was a protoype idea for a hybrid loco
Basicly this became the stadler eurodual after they bought vossloh, which bought mak.
Correct.
It also had a project name "Voith Futura"...
I didn't know that emd would export to russia
I thought all the political stuff would block it...
That have been sold to private railroad and while manufactured in 2015, it only reached it's owner in 2021. Could as well end up being new "Little Joe".
As for other stuff here:
Baden A1, Prussian ES5, Henschel E1200.
That's an old comment lol, I've actually been back to Scotland again since I posted that 😅
I rode the HST for one stop across Edinburgh just to be on it haha
And boring AF too
The tables were good for playing cards at least
I'm part of a project for restoring 200 meters of narrow gauge industrial railway in an old brick factory in Belgium. We have been working in our free time for 2 months and we have just started a Facebook page. We are not seeking financial support, this is just for those who are interested. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61552624349613

Notice anything off with the railway tracks?
dual gauge...?
There’s people on them
Consider that normal. Find the thing that should've been there but is not there.
the second running rail
Yeah.
a lot of bridges are like that
take Irlam Viaduct for example
used to be 4 tracks, now only 2
In Britain?
yes
Probably done by the same people here in their former colony.
lol
Bro has more gauges than Australia
There are only 2 gauges using 3 lines in the picture. Because it's on a bridge over a canal, the lines have been doubled for stability.
Here's a picture without the additional tracks.
Jeez
amazing
Location?
Steam depot in Wolsztyn, the video is from the yearly steam festival, specifically the steamengine parade
lifting of a derailed locomotive
Where is this?
What😭
nymr, diesel gala
You didn't notice? lmao
i dont always look at what i type
not my video, but from somewhere near me: trainspotting from a drone! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_exE40EsnzQ
Aerial footage of trains near Addenbrookes biomedical campus on Saturday 27th April.
they're building a new station here called Cambridge South, and this channel has a lot of footage of its construction too
I wonder what those ex nsb coaches are doing there
Not sure, the rest were Blå Tåget but maybe those NSB cars were used in their traffic
Maybe they'll convert them if they ever start running again
Uppsala -Göteborg would be sweet but they'll probably be very expensive:(
I don't remember what made them stop running in the first place
Prague?
you aren't wrong there
S-120 RENFE Alvia
Pamplona -> Madrid-Chamartín Clara Campoamor
High speed train (max 250km/h) serving long distance routes across Spain.
Pamplona, he S-311 is a diesel-electric locomotive that it's main purpose is maneuver the cargo around the station. It has proven a high level of versatility, hence the use that Renfe and ADIF gives to it.
Hendaye, Avelia Euroduplex is a french high-speed double-decker train manufactured by Alstom. In the pic above it's painted with the InOui livery.
I really hope ČD Cargo wont retire 372s the moment ETCS is needed on select lines in january
i love em
Yesterday on the Route Bad Schandau - Friedrichstadt Dresden
Not a sight you want to see often but 2 Scotland bound Voyagers normally an hour apart side by side in Leeds

Good
Saw trains today

CSR on the Mitre suburban line in Buenos Aires
Alstom 100 in Line D, after 6 months of not being in service
(Buenos Aires subte btw)
That's one of the trains running the daily long distance service from Buenos Aires to Rosario
Shitty picture because my phone struggles at night
Went to a railway museum today

Is that a GT22?
Kinda like the "dieselpunk" vibe this old Serie 0100 has
Vesterport, Copenhagen
Røros 2022
Bodø my beloved ⬜
Wait no it was Røros, I forgot😭
I'd like to go there too sometime though

I already thought it looked different from what I remember on the pics that don't literally have the station sign Røros visible on them
It's a G22CU, I'd love to take tge university train in the bottom sometime.
G22CU and GT22 kinda look alike, I always get it wrong which is which lmao
Don't worry, I had to google it because I had no idea which engine it was
Hahaha what would we do without Google?
Toshiba EMU (based on the Odakyu 9000 Series) with the Ferrocarriles Argentinos livery
(the video is low quality thanks to the Whatsapp camera lol)
Are you also from Argentina?
Yes I am haha
Please enjoy this incredibly shaky and low quality video of the Buenos Aires-Rosario train I had the chance to see yesterday
you guys should go and find the wadlopers sold to argentina
I can't travel to Misiones to see them tbh
Same :(
Santa Rosa is hitting hard, maybe tomorrow I'll take some rain pictures?
Would be so cool to see some trains in the rain :D
Maybe I should do the same
🤩
western my beloved
I love how this EMU looks, even tho it isn't too comfortable inside
CSR ZhouZhou arriving + how it looks inside
And last but not least, another CSR in the depot
Hell yeah Roca line
The coolest of the Metropolitan lines of Buenos Aires
I've taken it a few weeks ago to go to the Remedios De Escalada railway club. I highly reccomend it
Yeah, I love the Roca Line (It's the only one I travel with in my entire life, I hope I can travel with another line any time soon)
Nice! I only use it to go to La Plata or Villa Elisa because it's more cheaper than using the bus lol
It's probably the furthest from you if you only use the Roca line but some stations in the Mitre line are gorgeous
I reccomend going to either Tigre, Belgrano R or Colegiales
Yeah, sadly I'm kinda far from other lines :(
Ohhh, I heard nice things about Tigre, my dad went there last year :D
I should go sometime
It's really pretty and there's the Parque de La Costa as well as a few markets, it's pretty cool for a day out.
Nice :D
Looks like a good plan to go in the summer :D
I should ask to some friends if they wanna go with me
Buenos Aires to Rosario train!
What a beautiful train, really love the livery
Yeah, I love how the wave flows through all the coaches
Yeah, so awesome :D
