Talking about life in Russia at the moment, how the sanctions are affecting the regular people, the overall state of the economy and why I can't even get paid anymore.
-------------------------...
sanctions unfortunately affect the wrong people but welp
What’s the strategic value in destroying a half finished airframe
Sad
grenades came within 100m of the reactor.. crazy..
no new updates?
ive havent heard anything other than the UK will help sweden incase we get invaded
but nothing more
good thing Sweden wont be invaded
oh, of course sweden's not getting invaded
those are just empty warnings, NATO will go nuts if Russia takes things that far
how about that super long russian column moving towards kyiv? still no progress?
didnt they run out of fuel?
yeah heard things like that
that sounds like a pretty good target for aerial bombing
would those vehicles be armed?
cause if they were armed aerial bombing doesnt sound like a good plan
unless you kamikaze
hmm, i wonder...if they could hamper russia's supply lines somehow they might be able to delay the advance on kiev further
The column is likely going to be fractured
Russia has already hampered their own supply lines

Wow
If it's true this could get interesting.
it has to be BS
What army goes into battle with a supply of what 11 days
russian plans show that they expected 15 days
tactical nukes
why would they only have resources for like 10 days
Yeah probably another thing trying to keep Ukraine moral high
how so?
The invasion is stretched horribly and in an unstrategic manner if Ukrainian sources can be considered transparent
oh
well, i’ve seen photographs of russian columns and they seem to be exactly how you describe them…stretched extensively
I don’t think nuclear war is going to be a good gamble
I doubt that it should come to that…russia would be biting off more than it would be able to chew, and i think putin at least has the sense to realise that
This is a very bleak test of what future wars may look like information wise
It’s been nearly nine days and all news comes from Twitter and third hand accounts
most of these sources are reliable yet, as they are from within Ukraine where the actual fighting’s going on, the reporters belonging to newspapers on the other hand are finding it difficult to get information from places which are designated conflict zones
The sources are reliable but the information being spread is not
hmm, not all obviously
Nothing is reliable in war
except beans
It’s interesting to see how the world has reacted to this though
well, everyone finds putin’s conduct outrageous, and the events that have taken place, appalling
That’s true. But it’s a lot different then how the world reacted to Syria, or Iraq, or many other wars that have been waged in this millennium
can this please be real
We wouldn't know.
That’s part of the problem
You can say anything
That to
And people will take it at face value
perhaps that’s because this one has begun right on Europe’s doorstep…and the most violent war Europe has encountered since the second world war
What about the Yugoslavia wars
There is a similar war being waged right now in Ethiopia
Why should it matter if the war is in Europe or Africa? All wars are horrible
^^^^
hmm, that incident wasn’t as serious as this though, this one’s a full-scale invasion, and only a few hours back we had nearly come to a second Chernobyl-scale apocalypse…this could potentially be the foundation for something worse…shudder
Wasn’t as serious?
well, not as bad as this
I strongly oppose that statement
i mean, for the people who weren’t involved, that’s so say people outside of Yugoslavia
150,000 people died during the Yugoslav Wars, including a genocide on Bosnians
4 million people were displaced from the Balkans
Mainly due to ethnic cleansing operations done by extremist Serb nationalist against Muslims
We don’t know what the extent of this war is going to be
It could be worse
It could be not as bad
It could be about equal
i meant…this incident’s closer to a world crisis, I didn’t mean that what happened in Yugoslavia was relatively slight compared to this in terms of any atrocities committed or what the civilians had to go through

I don’t see this conflict ending with any kind of peace treaty
Or with any form of diplomacy
So if not diplomacy, what do you think will end this conflict?
one of the sides running out of military power
I don’t think any side will back out by choice
putin is probably shitting himself and wanting to retreat but he doesnt wanna look like a pussy
Me and my friends were saying that the other day
He didn’t expect Ukraine to fight back
russia probably wont stop until ukraine capitulates or zelensky is assassinated and replaced with a pro russian leader
evident to the fact that russia is increasing its aggresiveness with bombings and encirclement
the only diplomacy russia would ever possibly accept is sepratist independence and no nato membership, which i doubt ukraine would be interested in
diplomacy was never an option

Czech Rep.
Average price in Poland is around 1,3 EUR (Diesel)
damn why everything gotta be so expensive hereeee
Remember that here we have 8% VAT on car fuel
Anyone know what a red plane means on flight radar?
Can you show screen?
Or planes callsign
I'm 95% sure that, it's 7700 (squawk for any emergency situation excluding loss of radio and kidnapping a plane)
So now it is 1,3 EUR, without lower VAT (23% instead of 8%) it should be around 1,5 EUR
Where diesel is so luxurious? Almost double the price of fuel here
sweden has raised prices of all fuels so much over the last year
its all just taxes pilled on
Guys
not suprised tbh
I know Northern european countries are expensive af
it is enviorment taxes too
holy fuck
that is horryfing
basically making shit expensiver like fuel and stuff to make people drive less because it costs too much
so why invent fucking cars
And later Russian ministers, ambassadors dare to say that they use precise weapons directed only into military buildings, not even barracks. These people are lying to the World. I don't know, how they don't feel ashamed that they are lying to the World

The war in Ukraine is shaking markets, slowing economic growth and sending European stocks sinking.
From Reuters:
Data showing a vibrant U.S. jobs market strengthened the dollar and spurred commodity prices higher, but the war in Ukraine overshadowed the blowout report as the euro plunged on the worsening outlook for slower European economic growth.
The U.S. unemployment rate fell to a two-year low of 3.8% as job growth surged in February, a bright spot for an economy that faces mounting headwinds from rising inflation, tighter monetary policy by the Federal Reserve and geopolitical tensions.
The euro tumbled below $1.10 for the first time in almost two years and hit a fresh seven-year low against the safe-haven Swiss franc as Russian forces seized the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and fighting raged elsewhere in Ukraine.
European stocks sank to near one-year lows, with the pan-regional STOXX 600 index sliding 3.56% to increase losses for the week to 7% - its worst weekly decline since the depths of a pandemic-fueled sell-off in March 2020.
The Metropolitan police’s war crimes team is assisting in the International Criminal Court (ICC) investigation of alleged war crimes in Ukraine.
The Met is tasked with carrying out “any UK enquiries into war crimes and core international crimes”, it said Friday, and is “appealing for anyone in the UK who may have direct evidence of war crimes”.
“Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may themselves have witnessed or been the victim of any war crimes in Ukraine at any time from 21 November 2013 onwards,” the Met said.
Investigators are seeking out people who have a direct link to relevant information, rather than the general public submitting social media posts or media reports.
“This could be in the form of direct messages, images or videos that friends or relatives here in the UK have been sent by those in Ukraine. Or it could be somebody who was previously in Ukraine and who may have witnessed or even been a victim of a war crime and has since travelled to the UK,” said Richard Smith, the head of the Met’s counter terrorism command.
Several leading luxury brands, including Hermes, the Cartier owner Richemont, LVMH, Kering and Chanel, announced they will temporarily close stores and halt business operations in Russia.
“Given our increasing concerns about the current situation, the growing uncertainty and the complexity to operate, Chanel decided to temporarily pause its business in Russia,” the French luxury fashion house said in a post on LinkedIn.
More from Reuters:
Luxury giant LVMH, which owns such brands as Christian Dior, Givenchy, Kenzo, TAG Heuer and Bulgari among others, will close its 124 boutiques in Russia from Sunday but will continue to pay the salaries for its 3,500 employees in the country, a spokesperson told Reuters.
French multinational Kering, whose brands include brands as Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and Boucheron among others, has two shops and 180 employees, which the company will continue to support.
While affluent Russians are keen consumers of luxury goods, analysts say the proportion of luxury sales generated from Russian nationals is small compared to the industry’s main growth engines, China and the United States.
Richemont, which also owns Dunhill, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Piaget, and Van Cleef & Arpels among other brands, has around a dozen directly operated stores, mostly in Moscow. It said in a statement it had suspended commercial activities in Russia on March 3 after stopping Ukraine operations on Feb. 24, the day Russia launched its invasion.

The official also said that Ukrainian aircraft had suffered some loses, including being destroyed by Russian forces, but did not give details.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address the US Senate on Saturday during a Zoom call that is scheduled for 9.30am Eastern Time. The call has been requested by Zelensky.
Zelenskiy says Nato has given “green light for further bombing of Ukraine" by ruling out no-fly zone
Volodymyr Zelenskiy has critisized Nato for refusing to implement a no-fly zone over Ukraine, saying the decision has given “the green light for further bombing of Ukrainian towns and villages”.
“All the people who die from this day forward will also die because of you, because of your weakness, because of your lack of unity,” the Ukrainian president said in an emotional nighttime address.
Nato warned on Friday that imposing a no-fly zone could provoke full-fledged war in Europe with nuclear-armed Russia. “The only way to implement a no-fly zone is to send Nato fighter planes into Ukraine’s airspace, and then impose that no-fly zone by shooting down Russian planes,” Jens Stoltenberg, the Nato chief, said. “If we did that, we’ll end up with something that could end in a full-fledged war in Europe, involving many more countries and causing much more human suffering.”
Zelenskiy said Nato countries have created a narrative that a no-fly zone would provoke Russia’s aggression against Nato. “This is the self-hypnosis of those who are weak, insecure inside, despite the fact they possess weapons many times stronger than we have,” he said.
He also praised Ukrainians for their resistance against Russia’s invasion: “We are warriors of light,” he said. “The history of Europe will remember this forever.”
US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said on March 4 at the UN that Russian forces are now 20 miles, and closing, from Ukraine’s second largest nuclear facility – the Yuzhnoukrainsk Nuclear Power Station in southern Ukraine’s Mykolaiv Oblast.
It’s quite ironic that Russia’s always assumed that the conventional war they’ll be fighting in Europe is one where they won’t have the ability to maintain air superiority, so they bulked up air defenses. But because of this they also don’t have SEAD experience for when they do.
Russia are frauds
Zelensky is an idiot
Idk why you won’t crate a no fly zone and shoot down Russian jets if they don’t follow the rules it totally won’t start a war
Imagine electing a person with that kind of logic
his judgement is clouded by emotions and tries to appeal to western audiences with pathos
he knows just as much as we do that no fly zone means ww3
he is just desperate for the survival of his country and is running on low sleep with tonnes of pressure
You have to do simple logic it makes zero sense to try and save Ukrainian population with all out war would mean many more would die then be saved
Again, he is appealing to western audience and desperate to save his country
If you ask me its more desperation than idiocy
and no truly stupid person can get in a great position of power
I beg to differ
i differ too. i think zelenskyy and ukraine are reacting very well under the enormous pressure they are. enormous is putting it mildly. there are not words in the english vocabulary that can describe the pressure they are under
NATO is of course looking at the big picture, but his job is to pull all the strings he can pull to take care of ukraine. his job is not looking at the big picture of the world.

In a rare move, Singapore has said it will impose sanctions against Russia in opposition to Moscow's war in Ukraine.
The city-state, a key financial centre, will impose export controls and targeted financial limits on certain Russian banks, place restrictions on cryptocurrency transactions and ban financial institutions from providing services that could aid Russia’s central bank.
Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan earlier told parliament that Singapore intended "to act in concert with many other like-minded countries to impose appropriate sanctions and restrictions against Russia".
It is the first among regional neighbours to enact sanctions, though other members of the Association of South East Asian Nations have condemned Russia's actions.
Even our government said there's a possibility of imposing sanctions against Russia

Russia announces a ceasefire to allow humanitarian corridors in Mariupol and Volnovakha
The Russian defense ministry said in a statement that it was declaring a ceasefire starting 10am Saturday, Moscow time, and opening “humanitarian corridors” to allow civilians to leave the cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha. Earlier, the mayor of Mariupol, which has been under siege since Thursday, called for a humanitarian corridor amid an ongoing blockade and attacks from Russian troops. Fighting was also reported in the north-eastern city of Sumy and near the capital in Borodyanka.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said 66,224 Ukrainian men had returned from abroad to help fight against Russia’s invasion.
That’s how many men returned from abroad at this moment to defend their country from the horde. These are 12 more combat and motivated brigades! Ukrainians, we are invincible,” Reznikov said in statement posted online.
There has been no immediate confirmation from Ukraine regarding the reports Russia will stop firing this morning to allow for the evacuation of civilians, according to AP.
The details of the arrangement are unclear. Russian state media reported that Russia has agreed on evacuation routes with Ukrainian forces to allow civilians to leave Mariupol in the southeast and the eastern town of Volnovakha “from 10 am Moscow time”. The reports cited a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry statement.
It did not state for how long this ceasefire would last.
PayPal is the latest company to announce it will no longer offer services in Russia.
Reuters reports:
Payments company PayPal Holdings Inc shut down its services early on Saturday in Russia, citing “the current circumstances,” joining many financial and tech companies in suspending operations there after the invasion of Ukraine.
President and Chief Executive Dan Schulman said in a statement that the company “stands with the international community in condemning Russia’s violent military aggression in Ukraine.”
A company spokesperson said PayPal will support withdrawals “for a period of time, ensuring that account balances are dispersed in line with applicable laws and regulations.
PayPal, which had only allowed cross-border transactions by users in Russia, stopped accepting new users in the country on Wednesday.

Only good news to come out of Ukraine https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/cnn-stop-broadcasting-russia-after-new-law-2022-03-04/
New information about the scope of the partial ceasefire has been shared by Reuters. The Ukrainian government said the plan was to evacuate around 200,000 people from Mariupol and 15,000 from Volnovakha, and the Red Cross is the ceasefire’s guarantor.
There was no immediate confirmation that firing had stopped and it was not clear if the ceasefire would be extended to other areas
Mariupol officials say Russian troops not observing ceasefire
Mariupol’s city council has said Russian forces were not observing an agreed ceasefire along the entire length of a planned route for the evacuation of civilians, Reuters reports.
“We are negotiating with the Russian side to confirm the ceasefire along the entire evacuation route,” it said in a statement.
The route of the corridor is Mariupol - Nikolske - Rozivka - Polohy - Orikhiv - Zaporizhzhia.
Authorities had previously urged civilians to leave, with mayor Vadim Boichenko saying on Telegram: “When our home city is constantly under the ruthless fire of the occupiers there is no choice other than to allow residents - us - to leave Mariupol safely.”
Ukraine’s armed forces claim to have shot down a Russian military helicopter this morning. Its operative command released video of a missile hitting a low-flying helicopter which crashed seconds later.
Ukraine will be able to import gas from Poland from from 6 March, including gas from Polish LNG terminals, Ukrainian state-run gas transit system operator said on Saturday in a statement reported by Reuters.
The two transit operators agreed on the introduction of guaranteed capacity for gas imports and “this allows the physical import of gas from Poland, including from the LNG terminal, on a guaranteed basis”, the Ukrainian company said.
Ukraine, one of Europe’s biggest gas consumers, has not imported gas from Russia since 2015 and buys it in Europe.

Mariupol evacuation postponed
Reuters has this update on the partial ceasefire in Mariupol:
Authorities in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol said an evacuation of civilians planned for Saturday had been postponed as Russian forces encircling the city were not respecting an agreed ceasefire.
In a statement, the city council asked residents to return to shelters in the city and wait for further information on evacuation.
Mariupol’s deputy mayor told BBC News about the difficulties faced by the city’s civilians who were attempting to evacuate.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has called for safe routes to allow civilians to flee Mariupol. Multiple MSF staff members are sheltering in the city with their families – one staff member said:
The situation is the same as in recent days. This night the shelling was harder and closer. We collected snow and rain water yesterday to have some utility water. We tried to get free water today but the queue was huge. We also wanted to get ‘social’ bread but it is not clear the schedule and the places of distribution. According to people, multiple grocery stores were destroyed by missiles and the remaining things were taken by people in desperate need. Still no power, water, heating and mobile connection. No one heard about any evacuation yet. Pharmacies are out of medicine.”
Christine Jamet, MSF director of operations, called today for safe routes to allow civilians to leave the city, including MSF staff and their families: “Civilians must not be trapped in a war zone,” Jamet said. “People seeking safety must be able to do so, without fear of violence”.
\UK advises British nationals to leave Russia
Britain has urged UK nationals to consider leaving Russia following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
“If your presence in Russia is not essential, we strongly advise that you consider leaving by remaining commercial routes,” the British government said in a statement reported by Reuters.
It comes after Britain on Monday advised citizens against travelling to Russia due to a lack of available flight options and increased economic volatility.
Ceasefire agreements have been failed due to Russian fire — official.

Thats putins plane right?
I mean it's not Vladimir Putin himself obviously

But definitely someone he sent
A Russian government VIP plane yes
But not sure if it's the presidential one
shoot it down
The interesting thing is that we get little to no info about that flight
The airline designation “RSD” indicates a special Russian flight that carries top officials. This one took off from St Petersburg, made a big curve around the closed airspace in Europe, and is headed for Washington 👀

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Poland to discuss security and humanitarian assistance, Reuters reports.
Blinken is in Rzeszow, a southeastern city close to the Ukrainian border which hundreds of thousands of people have crossed since the invasion began. Blinken will meet Polish officials, including the NATO and European Union member state’s foreign minister Zbigniew Rau.
More than 1 million refugees have fled Ukraine since the invasion began on 24 February, mostly into Poland, according to the UN refugee agency.
Much of the military aid provided by NATO members to Ukraine’s government forces is passing through Poland. NATO has refused Ukrainian demands to enforce a no-fly zone over the country.
Blinken said on Friday that NATO, which he called a defensive alliance, was seeking to prevent the war from spreading beyond Ukraine. “We seek no conflict, but if conflict comes to us, we’re ready for it,” Blinken said, “and we will defend every inch of NATO territory.”

Russia is poised to deploy up to 1,000 more mercenaries to Ukraine in the coming days and weeks, a US official told CNN, as a senior Western intelligence official warned that Russia could soon begin to "bombard cities into submission."
The mercenary forces, meanwhile, would be brought in to fortify the flagging Russian units, the US official said. US believes the mercenaries already in Ukraine have "performed poorly," & that as many as 200 such mercenaries have already been killed in the war as of late Feb.
i have #think4myself and i believe western media
More than 1.2 million Ukrainian refugees have crossed the country’s borders after Russia invaded 10 days ago. Most have crossed into the European Union in eastern Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary and northern Romania. Here are some figures via Reuters:
Poland has accepted nearly 800,000 Ukrainian refugees since the Russian invasion began on 24 February, according to the country’s deputy minister of internal affairs Pawel Szefernaker. More than 106,000 arrived from Ukraine in the last 24 hours, the highest figure since the invasion.
Hungarian foreign minister Peter Szijjarto said that 140,000 people have crossed into Hungary.
Nearly 200,000 have fled to Romania. The government is expected to approve a decree on Saturday to use a buffer fund to finance the costs of housing an average 70,000 people per day for 30 days. Romania is asking for EU help too.
Some 20,000 Ukrainians have entered Bulgaria, border police said.

Western sanctions on Russia akin to declaration of war, says Putin
President Vladimir Putin said western sanctions on Russia were akin to a declaration of war, reports Reuters.
He said Moscow needed to defend Russian speakers in Ukraine’s east as well as its own interests.
In televised comments to female flight attendants he said Russia wanted Ukraine to be “demilitarised”, “denazified” and to have neutral status.
He also said he has no plans to declare martial law in Russia, reports AFP:

US secretary of state Antony Blinken has spoken with Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi about Moscow’s “premeditated, unprovoked, and unjustified war against Ukraine,” a US state department spokesperson said in a statement reported by Reuters.
“The secretary noted the world is watching to see which nations stand up for the basic principles of freedom, self-determination and sovereignty,” spokesperson Ned Price said in a statement.
“He underscored that the world is acting in unison to repudiate and respond to the Russian aggression, ensuring that Moscow will pay a high price.”

The World Health Organization has confirmed “several” attacks on health care centres in Ukraine which resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, the agency’s chief has said.
Additional reports are being investigated, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a post to Twitter on Sunday.
“Attacks on healthcare facilities or workers breach medical neutrality and are violations of international humanitarian law,” he added.
As of today, WHO has published 6 verified reports of attacks on health care in #Ukraine. More reports are being verified.

South Korea will implement export controls against Belarus for “effectively supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine”, Seoul’s foreign ministry said on Sunday.
The ministry did not detail what measures would be taken, but said they will be applied in a similar way to moves already taken by South Korea against Russia, Reuters reports.
It condemned Moscow as having launched an “armed invasion” of Ukraine.
South Korea said last month it would tighten export controls against Russia by banning shipments of strategic items and join Western countries’ moves to block some Russian banks from the Swift international payments system.
“The Korean government decided today to implement export control measures against Belarus as well, judging that Belarus is effectively supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” the ministry said in a statement.

The World Health Organization has confirmed “several” attacks on health care centres in Ukraine which resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, the agency’s chief has said.
South Korea will implement export controls against Belarus for “effectively supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine”, Seoul’s foreign ministry said on Sunday, Reuters reports.
The Ukrainian military is reporting that more than 11,000 Russian military personnel have died since the invasion began.
Russian forces are targeting populated areas in Ukraine but the strength of resistance has slowed the Russian advance, British military intelligence reveals.
Ukraine’s emergency services are reporting casualties from a Russian missile strike which hit residential homes in the Zhytomyr region, about 140km north-west of Kyiv.
The Ukrainian military released its operational report as of 6am local time, noting its forces have been “fighting fierce battles to maintain certain borders”.
Russia struck and disabled Ukraine’s Starokostiantyniv military air base with long-range high-precision weapons, Russia’s defence ministry claimed on Sunday.
“The Russia armed forces continue to strike the military infrastructure of Ukraine,” Russian defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
“On the morning of 6 March, strikes were carried out by high-precision long-range weapons. The Ukrainian air force base near Starokostiantyniv was disabled.”
He said a Ukrainian-controlled S-300 missile system had also been destroyed by Russian rocket forces. He added that Russia had downed 10 Ukrainian planes and helicopters over the past 24 hours.

The city council of Mariupol has said a ceasefire will be observed between 10am and 9pm local time today.
However, the evacuation of civilians was postponed yesterday because Russian forces encircling the city were not respecting an agreed ceasefire.
In a statement, the city council had asked residents to return to shelters in the city and await further information on evacuation.
In a televised broadcast, Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said Russia was not observing an agreed ceasefire in some areas, preventing a joint plan to allow civilians to evacuate.

In an address to Ukrainians on Sunday morning, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy praised the many forms of resistance people have chosen to oppose the Russian invasion and called his country “a superpower of spirit.”
The country, he said, was performing at “the maximum of possibilities,” with soldiers fighting but also ordinary people defending towns, hospitals and fire departments. He encouraged residents of occupied areas to protest, if possible.
Ten days into the war, he said, Ukraine had united with “millions of people, which became one whole.”
Meanwhile, the Associated Press reported that he made a “desperate” plea to American lawmakers yesterday for the United States to help get more warplanes to his military.
Zelenskiy opened the private video call with US lawmakers by telling them this may be the last time they see him alive. “President Zelenskiy made a desperate plea,” said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
He said Zelenskiy wants the US to facilitate the transfer of planes from Eastern European allies. “I will do all I can to help the administration to facilitate their transfer,” Schumer said.
The US is considering sending American-made F-16s as backfill to former Soviet bloc countries in Eastern Europe that are now members of NATO. They, in turn, would send Ukraine their own Soviet-era MiGs, which Ukrainian pilots are trained to fly.
These are the indicative estimates of Russia's losses as of March 6, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukraine president says Russian rockets have completely destroyed Vinnytsia regional airport
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Russian rockets had completely destroyed the civilian airport of the central-western region capital of Vinnytsia on Sunday.
Earlier the authorities said emergency services were working to put out fires at the airport caused by the rocket strikes.
One of the last remaining independent media outlets in Russia, Mediazona, said it has been blocked by authorities for its reporting on Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Roskomnadzor began blocking Mediazona,” the outlet said in a statement, referring to Russia’s communications regulator.
“Because we cover honestly what is happening in Ukraine and call the invasion an invasion, and the war a war,” it said.
The statement added that Russia has in recent days introduced “military censorship and there are almost no independent media left in the country.”
The outlet’s publisher, Pyotr Verzilov, said they would “continue to work anyway and tell you about the war”.
Since president Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, authorities have ramped up an unprecedented crackdown on the already embattled media.
Earlier this week, Ekho Moskvy radio station and the Dozhd TV channel - two of Russia’s landmark liberal media outlets - were either dissolved or suspended operations.
Dozens of media workers and independent outlets - including Dozhd - have already been designated “foreign agents” by authorities, and many reporters and editors have been forced to leave the country.
Independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta, whose editor-in-chief Dmitry Muratov was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021, said it would not cover the conflict, citing new legislation on reporting on the military.
Mediazona is an independent online publication which writes about court cases and abuses of prisoners’ rights, among other subjects.

The exiled Belarus opposition leader, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, said the country’s leader has in effect ceded control of Belarus to the Kremlin.
President Alexander Lukashenko denies that his armed forces are operating in Ukraine or that he plans to enter the war on Russia’s side. But Belarus’s military is now indirectly under Kremlin control, Tshikhanouskaya said in an interview with the Guardian.
“It seems to us that Lukashenko is not controlling our military any more, the only thing he is controlling is repression against the Belarusian people,” she said. “We see signs of the military occupation of Belarus.”
Russia and Ukraine blame each other as Mariupol evacuation fails again
Pro-Russian separatists and Ukraine’s National Guard accused each other of failing to establish a humanitarian corridor out of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol on Sunday, the second time the sides have attempted to arrange it.
Ukraine 24 television showed a fighter of the Azov Regiment of the National Guard who said Russian and pro-Russian forces that have encircled the port city of about 400,000 continued shelling the areas that were meant to be safe.
The Interfax news agency cited an official of the Donetsk separatist administration who accused the Ukrainian forces of failing to observe the limited ceasefire.
The separatist official said only about 300 people have left the city. Ukrainian authorities have earlier said they planned to evacuate over 200,000 people from Mariupol.
Turkish president Tayyip Erdoğan urged his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to declare a ceasefire in Ukraine, open humanitarian corridors and sign a peace agreement, his office said.

The UK’s chief of the defence staff has slapped down Liz Truss’s suggestion that Britons could travel to Ukraine to take up arms in the war against Russia, saying doing so would be illegal.
Sir Tony Radakin urged people not to rush towards “the sound of gunfire” and stressed there were many other ways that people in the UK could support those resisting the advancement of Vladimir Putin’s troops.
The unusually direct comment will be viewed as a strict admonishment of the foreign secretary’s suggestion, which had already been rejected by the defence secretary, Ben Wallace.
Last week, Truss was quizzed about the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s call for anyone who wanted to “join the defence of security in Europe” to “stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainians against the invaders”.
Asked whether Britons should venture out to fight, she said: “I do support that, and of course that is something that people can make their own decisions about.”

Green light for jetplane deliveries to Ukraine
BREAKING: Russia's Defense Ministry says countries which use their airfields to supply Ukraine with fighter jets may be regarded as participants in the conflict
2961
1064
papa sent 2 dudes to ukraine
oh wow
putin sees this as a religious war
As soon as those nato fighters enter Ukraine airspace that will signal WW3
I guess American weapons manufacturers need to get rid of their old stock
If war will happen with Russia, it will be the biggest war in 80 years
no NATO fighters will enter Ukraine
Well NATO has green lighted giving planes to Ukraine
giving planes yes through neighbouring countries, but no NATO pilot will enter the airspace
Idk why NATO is so insistent on escalating things
instead Ukrainian pilots will arrive to neighbouring countries to fly the planes into Ukraine to assist
they're not
Giving fighter jets, vehicles, ammo is really not a good idea
they're literally doing everything they can to not escalate while supporting the sovereign nation of Ukraine
NATO has been doing everything they could to try and de-escalate
it is, otherwise Ukraine may fall
while supporting ukraine
It is if you want to provoke a war supporting one side while supplying them ammo and weapons is basically entering the war and Russia will get fed up with it
absolutely not
if they wanted to provoke war then they'd send in their troops.
That’s the only thing they havnt done at this point
which they don't, because they don't want to escalate the situation
If they want to provoke a war they can. Public opinion is swaying towards a no-fly zone.
stop drinking the russian propaganda koolaid pls
NFZ won't work and should not be tried
Imagine if Russia was giving a crap ton of weapons to taliban and isis and then were using them to kill USA you think we would get pissed off
I believe that NATO would be able to defeat the Russian military easily, until nuclear weapons are deployed
Only thing nato should be doing is supply humanitarian aid that’s it
so you mean what the US did in their multiple proxy wars?
i mean they literally were, but the US didn't escalate against Russia then did they
heck
both sides did this
I’m fine with escalation, I just want people to admit to the cost they’re willing to take
This is not going to be an easy war
it's properly complicated.
Anything more then supplying humanitarian aid is risking war period
its not
I’ve heard credible arguments in favor of war
I’m just saying that people who want war should be willing to accept the results
I don’t understand how you could think it’s not
Russia would be the ones escalating it, not NATO or any other non-NATO country
when Putin himself says it is
because he's a fecking eejit trying to show off and pump his chest
you both do realize that if nukes weren't a thing the entire world would be a massive unified country by now right
nah
the things we could achieve.
but here we are.
I think it is necessary for NATO to make war on Russia
i don't think so
Imagine if bill Clinton had let Russia join nato back then
i dont
keep the sanctions
let them collapse
reinstate a new government
and then stabilize it
Sanctions have never worked to collapse a government
Yeah like USA has stabilized anything
In fact they always end up making things worse
but sanctions can push the people to collapse the government
the UK
Is there an example of this occurring?
half of europe
yes..
also the sanctions have never been so bad before, iirc, to their credit they really seem to be trying to hurt Putin and his friends where it'll hurt them the most
The people we nuked would say otherwise in Japan and they did it themselves without our help
That's actually pretty untrue 😂
ofc the population gets hurt in the process but they're really targeting those guys assets
I don’t think NATO wins this by providing weapons. They win this by having a war
It’s why we stood at Poland
Also the 90,000 people we killed when we firebombed Tokyo
The unfortunate truth is that the goal of the Russian Federation is the total extermination of the Ukrainian people
After the defeat of Japan in World War II, the United States led the Allies in the occupation and rehabilitation of the Japanese state. Between 1945 and 1952, the U.S. occupying forces, led by General Douglas A. MacArthur, enacted widespread military, political, economic, and social reforms.
simple.. sanctions
collapse
stabilize
let them join nato after they're stable
Russia has a lot to go to match the one time war crime of the USA 80,000 to 130,000 civilians killed (most common estimates)
Over one million homeless
267,171 buildings destroyed
hey bud, let's not delve into whataboutism. not the right moment to do this so please stop
There is one thing holding me back from a war, however
especially since the US has no part in this war
I believe war with Russia would include war with the eastern sphere
lets keep the conversation on topic
yes
there's no point in arguing a one sided statement it's pointless and not relevant
And I’m not certain I have the moral courage to declare war
lets be frank
war with russia only happens if nato doesn't back down
it is inevitable, sure
eh not really
There are good men and weak men in the world and I belong in the latter half
but for the near future if they back down and be russia's bitch then we might avoid a world war
Well, see, there's truth and false to that statement.
Russia is most likely bluffing
That’s a risk.
Russia really can't afford to go against NATO. We have seen how bad their military during a planned invasion, so how bad do you think it will be in an unplanned war with an alliance that has many times over the might
if they're losing this amount of shit to ukraine, and already getting this unstable
That's the thing though
they weren't prepared to fight ukraine
they didn't even understand what they were fighting for
since the end of ww2 nato has been the enemy of the russian people
I’m not pushing for a war yet, mainly because im too weak for it
and what they've been taught to hate
the conscripts maybe not, but the generals who did the planning definitely were
from putin, stalin, kruschev
they just didnt expect this massive resistance
I think it’s immoral to call for wars you personally wouldn’t fight
that's the thing though
Which is why I’m not calling for war
i absolutely do not want any war
I know
its immoral to call for war period I think
to be fully honest
I’m on the verge of advocating for it, but I’m too cowardly to do so
I don't even want a war with russia, I just want them to be sanctioned and have their entire government collapse so a new one can be reinstated that isn't so fucking corrupt as soon as possible
that imo would void any future chances for a while
to have a major war
I don’t think their government will collapse from sanctions
There’s never been a case of that ever occurring
i don't think you understand
Not to my knowledge at least
Maybe you are right
with the economy absolutely tanked, with the people being blocked off from the modernity of the world that they used to freely use, it's gonna fall eventually
yes.. the people rioting in russia, the collapse of their currency, the freezing of russian money deposits
you cannot tell me it will be all rainbows and sunshine

@expatua Not just that. He says that the soldiers refuse to go and replacing the officers won't change that.

its already happening
russia will reach a point where they have so little money to spend on defense and misc. shit that when they start taking money from their citizens, major war would happen
And I’ve been on the wrong side of history already a hundred thousand times
people come to their senses
Okay. don't say that shit
you can most certainly keep that to yourself
or list it as 'gore'
take a break form consuming this information mate. it's not good for your mind.
doom scrolling is a thing and you should avoid it
That counts as gore?
yes..
Take time away from the internet and watching this stuff. Sincerely, someone working in Trust & Safety
that's very much so gore-y
it really doesnt do you or anyone else any good to consume graphic content
^
It’s my responsibility to not ignore history and not ignore my own mistakes
+1
But don't risk your sanity for it.
there's a difference between information and doom scrolling
:0 ayo?
just not worth it to be honest
it's your responsibility to inform yourself, not watch graphic videos of things that are happening that you can't do anything about
and also, honestly, if it fucks too much with your brain there's really nothing wrong with stepping back
I know I don’t have to. I choose to anyways because I said this wouldn’t happen
but you shouldnt is my point. It's just no use at all
you shouldn't believe that you can fix any of this dumb shit
that's ok. take a step back. get some headspace buddy.
its just not right
I can’t fix anything here. That’s way too late
yeah and there's nothing wrong with taking a step back from it. Genuinely important to give your brain time to relax.
yes.. just let shit happen, people are taking care of it
Is there someone I could talk to privately?
yes, my DMs are open
Alright, thanks

❗️According to the Pentagon #Russia deployed 95% of their forces and equipment. Agency didn't notice any significant advance of #Russian troops in last 24h.The 64-kilometer column near #Kyiv remains at the same place. Most likely they got stuck in mud and burned up all their fuel.

now they want the Saudi to produce more
Idk why people say russia is doing a terrible job at what they have captured so far
It took usa 41 days to capture Kuwait
Russia has captured what like 40% of Ukraine so far and we are only at 7 days and Ukraine is 34 times bigger then Kuwait
different expectations and different intentions. also i've already told you off once for whataboutism and keeping this channel on topic, so if you fail to keep your conversations on topic again you will be removed from this thread.

Zelensky posted this yesterday about the missile strike on Vinnytsia
Russia has fired 600 missiles and deployed 95% of its amassed troops into Ukraine, according to a senior US defense official, CNN reports.
Hacking group Anonymous interrupts Russian state TV programs with footage of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and an anti-war message.
It claims to have accessed TV channels “Russia 24”, “Channel 1”, “Moscow 24”, & streaming services Wink and Ivi.
Footage can be found posted on the Anonymous twitter page

in the North not really
okay zelenskyy is fucking savage
idk if anyone saw the microphone video
Troll Level: Presidential 🔥
Putin released a video but it was a fake that Putin made to show he isn't cowering away somewhere. Putin’s hand goes through the microphone, so Zelensky showed he’s actually real, by moving the mic.
