Russia will respond to sanctions, and suspends European collaboration on space launches
Moscow has this morning responded to a raft of sanctions imposed on Russian citizens and assets worldwide - in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine.

Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy head of the security council, said on Saturday that the funds of foreigners and foreign companies will be seized.

It was added that Moscow will not rule out nationalising the assets of companies registered in the US, EU and other "unfriendly jurisdictions".

This was first reported by the RIA news agency, which is run by the Russian state.

Meanwhile, Russia's space agency Roskosmos is suspending cooperation with Europe on space launches from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has spoken to the Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi this morning.

Following this conversation, Mr Zelenskyy confirmed that Italy is in support of disconnecting Russia from SWIFT.

This is a global interbank messaging system that helps facilitate payments. In particular, it allows Russia to transfer money around the world to receive payments for gas.

The mayor of Lviv this morning provided an update on the situation in the region.

Speaking on social media, Andrey Sadovyi said three Russian helicopters arrived near Brody in western Ukraine at 9am.
