every driver is helped by their car
ur not gonna get pole by running barefoot up eau rouge
u r gonna get pole by being in a top car and putting a solid lap together
in equal machinery piastri wouldn’t win a single race across the season
Verstappen leclerc and Russell would win most of the races
then maybe a rare lando, Oscar, or lewis win
pretty bad take
for he wouldn't be the best (that'd be max ofc) but he'd definitely win some
In answer to OP: a combinnation of both. It's ALWAYS a combination of both 😭
nuance exists
yeah i dont think you can get pole by running up eau rouge
dont think u can get pole in a lorry either
he wouldn’t
because piastri NEVER has weekends with exceptional pace
he just has consistent strong pace
compare that to someone like Verstappen with consistent exceptional pace or Russell/Leclerc who at times are ludicrously fast
and other than that strong
piastri isn’t a top 5 driver on the grid
he’s a jack of all trades, master of none
he’s skilled, but the car helps him
besides baku last year
and his this years baku was wild
not a weekend with exceptional pace
got leclerc through smart strategy and that questionable rear wing
he was like a tenth faster than norris who was on a worse strategy
who are your top 5 then?
yeah but that can win races
and does
verstappen, russell, leclerc, hamilton and alonso
it wins races when his teammate is inconsistent
it wins races when the top drivers have an off day
or get bad luck
hamilton and alonso way past it, particularly the former
might just make top 5 but definitely not both
russell verstappen and alonso don’t really have off days
hamilton has been matching leclerc since the summer break so he’s easily there for me
and alonso is so consistent that he hasn’t been outqualified in a year or something stupid like that
not to mention both drivers were brilliant back when the circumstances actually favoured them (2023)
his teammate is the worst qualifier on the grid though
and you have to be quick all the time, not just when the circumstances favour you
very debatable
Alonso is the ONLY undefeated driver against Stroll in the same time period btw
Which makes it ridiculously impressive
Not really
BUT HES A LEGEND IN THE WET 🔥🔥
It's literally Stroll
how come verstappen, leclerc, russell, norris and piastri have been outqualified by him in the same time frame lol
some of those will have been anomalies, e.g. crash or team-related quali issue. a few of those have also been in cars that were worse than the AM at points
let's not be silly here, none of them were in the same car and once you introduce any context they all fall apart
