Is Leclerc faster than him this year? Yes, and he'd probably be still faster than Lewis next year.
Has Hamilton adapted to the Ferrari yet? He's getting there. But it's not enough.
Bad luck or external factors? There are some, but it's negligible.
Is age catching up to him? Actually, yeah. It's most certain that he isn't the guy he used to be from 2014-2021. Man stepped into AD21 and just vanished. Which is sad.
Hamilton has preserved his late braking driving style from pre 2022
That just doesn’t work in these cars
i mean there is no one to blame for that than himself is there? he's gotta adapt.
Yes… but also no
If he adapted he’d lose that original driving style
And if he did properly adapt, then what would he have achieved? Maybe a couple of podiums?
Given that he hasn’t been presented with a championship winning car there is no reason for him to sacrifice that old style
i dont think a generational driver like him would just "lose" his original driving style. ur underestimating his scope imo.
its still worth it. every racing drivers always yearn for the best even if its a mere podium. maximising whats given to u is the mentality that most of em go with
i dont think lewis went in that path in these regulations which is kinda disappointing for a driver of his stature
Hamilton doesn’t exist to finish second
He has 7 world titles and 105 wins I really don’t think he cares about whether he finishes 3rd or 6th
You can’t just freely swap between one and the other
So much of racing is muscle memory
And if you change your braking points and the way you take corners at every single track on the calendar you’re not going to be able to instantly go back
u do realise hamilton is scoring points for the team asw right? i think he is obliged to maximise his results, not just give up racing at the top because he doesnt feel like it.
with the right amount of cushion time, he will definitely be able to able to revert back to his old ways. especially for a driver who labeled as the greatest in this sport by many.
he should.
he shouldn’t
he’s doing well enough to maximise constructors results
so it makes no difference to anyone but himself
emphasis on ‘cushion time’ which isn’t really ideal in a title fight
just doing "well enough" is kinda contradicting for a driver who is looked up to by many. also u wouldnt know how far he couldve gone if he truly maximised the potential of the car that was given to him. so no, the scope for achieving was far greater than what he proclaimed.
ofc, but wasting 4 years of ur prime time just to "supposedly" do well in a title fight with a car whose performance is still yet to be known is kinda dumb imo.
we dont even know if the ferrari would do well next year.
What was he meant to achieve
Its a waste regardless in the cars hes driven
the maximum potential of the car.
u urself mentioned hamilton would rather finish 6th than 3rd which is such a weird statement to make of him.
well its not for u to say that. and thats not how racing works.
No, I said it doesn’t matter
Lets look at the constructors
Ignore 2022 and 2023 because Hamilton was very much on pace then
Realistically could Mercedes have beaten Red Bull in 2024? No
And could Ferrari have beaten Mclaren in 2025? Obviously not
And yes, a 7 time champion spending 4 years in subpar cars is a waste, especially when he is only in the sport to win his 8th title
thats what im saying - "it doesnt matter" is NOT a statement u can make in a sport of such competitive scope such as f1. thats not what he is payed to do. whether it matters or not.
hamilton doesnt get a special pass to drive under the limit just because he is a WC. if it was any other driver they wouldve been kicked out of the sport a long time ago
waiting to win an 8th which is far from being obvious is also a waste then imo. and he also has a competitive teammate now.
Lmfao
He gets that pass because him under the limit is still better than 70% of the drivers on the grid
And what is ‘he also has a competitive teammate now’ supposed to mean
because he was driving a merc mate, not a sauber..
first competitive teammate since rosberg.
in a title fight that is
if one happens
What?
Oh its not even about Leclerc-Hamilton anymore its just about discrediting him
im sorry? is this gaslighting? im one of his admirers asw if u didnt know. ur the one framing him as a subpar driver by speculating that he didnt push to maximum cuz he doesnt care.
Not that he doesn’t push to the maximum
It is that he does not need to adapt
You stated that ‘merc not sauber’ point like the sauber drivers outperformed him which obviously is not true
that is not what i implied, u stating the fact that hamilton was still better than 70 percent of the grid while underperforming when 70 percent of grid is driving a car far slower than him is not a valid comparison is what i meant
he could if he adapted
He is performing better than drivers in faster cars than him like Sainz and Piastri last year and Tsunoda and Antonelli this year
But thats the point… he’d be in a worse place for 2026
bro tsunoda and antonelli? seriously?
come on now
he doesnt even know the state of the car in 2026....
Thats his direct competition
Well yeah… but he knows the car now is not going to win any championships
Yes but this is about races
yeah, an abolute rookie and a dude who cant even adapt to the car and has to scrape a point here and there are the people ur comparing him with. guess im not the one discrediting hamilton with this statement lmao
But that is his competition
Ultimately
Leclerc, Russell and Verstappen are all performing at a similar level, so the other drivers will make the difference
Antonelli is an 18 year old rookie who is old enough to be his son while Tsunoda is in an undriveable car. Seriously?
Hamilton is on his own league in 6th
No competition ahead, no competition below
Well thats kinda my point… him doing what he’s doing will get Ferrari second in the constructors
