#Best second driver in F1

In the modern era I'd say Bottas
Rosberg and Ricciardo weren't pure 2nd drivers
Neither was Hamilton in 2007
but he was never a second driver
maybe expected to finish behind alonso in the championship
but thats not what a second driver is
Or because he was just off a rookie season and hadn't unveiled his full potential
He was worse last year compared to his rookie season
He was genuinely just really poor
he's not a second driver this year
yeah
but norris isn't a second driver this year too so
I wouldn't say that, he was more than 100 points off Lando in 2023
While being in a less competitive car
worse luck
didn’t have the mclaren upgrades at austria, taken out t1 at belgium, taken out by hamilton at monza, quali ruined by stroll at singapore, taken out t1 at cota, taken out at t1 at brazil
he didn’t have any weekends where he was horrendously off the pace compared to lando
bar mexico
finished 40s behind lando and outqualified by 4 tenths at singapore, was half a minute behind at zandvoort, miles off in spain, bad abu dhabi race, and miles behind norris at sao paulo before the red flag and think different
i agree piastri was mid asf in 2024
brazil was caused by landos own mistakes
although piastri was far off in quali
does piastri just not like mexico
hes the reverse ricciardo
ricciardo was amazing at mexico
as proven by this masterclass
