#Who do you think should have won 2021 WDC.

More of a opinion. They both deserved it. I'm not sad in the slightest that Max won, just a bit disappointed the way he won of no fault of his own.
Legends.
Still feels weird to see the Ferrari logo beside Hamilton
I second this notion
2022 did let us know that max was no fluke, so I think that makes it less bad... FIA still messed up big time though
yeah
Since when has Formula 1 ever awarded championships based purely on who deserved
it most? F1 has always been a sport where results come down to performance,
reliability, strategy, and yes, sometimes even luck. Deserving something
doesn’t always mean you get it—or that how you got it can’t be questioned.
If you say he was the
best driver that season, well… that’s subjective.
If we’re going by “deserving,” then let’s talk about other
seasons where drivers “deserved” titles but didn’t get them.
-
Moss
(1958) – Lost the title to Hawthorn despite being the better driver.
Sportsmanship and reliability cost him. Moss told the stewards that
Hawthorn was unfairly disqualified— which was later overturned due to Moss’s
testimony — even though he was fighting Hawthorn for the title. Moss also
had 5 DNFs to Hawthorn’s two. Yet he only lost the title by one point. -
Hill
(1964) – Graham Hill would have won the 1964 title. That was
until eventual champion John Surtees’ teammate Lorenzo Bandini crashed
into Hill and caused a loss of power to Hill. This left Clark with a
chance to win the title until his engine seized in the penultimate lap,
leaving the road clear for Surtees to win the title. -
Mansell
(1986) – The title was firmly in Nigel Mansell’s hands during the last
race, the Australian Grand Prix. That was until he suffered a
heartbreaking tyre failure which put him out of the race. Williams pitted
teammate Piquet as a precaution, paving the way for Alain Prost to win the
title.
This all proves that there have been many examples over the
years of drivers “deserving” a title but not winning them. You can’t change the
rules because you feel that someone “deserved” a championship.
Tell this to the NASCAR community
The issue is that it wasn't luck that caused Max to win and Lewis to lose. It was a rushed attempt from the Race Director to get the race restarted for the show, violating the procedures in doing so.
If the rules had been followed, Hamilton would have won the 2021 title, and since rules should be followed, Hamilton should have won the title.
Verstappen deserved the championship but Lewis deserved Abu Dhabi
Couldn’t have said it any better
