its nascar, so no, i don’t want it
Not only that, it barely even matters that much
You could theoretically finish 30th out of 36-40 drivers in the regular season and still make the playoffs because you won 1 race and go on to win the NASCAR Playoffs
It's fuckin stupid
Makes it entertaining though because everyone has to fight to get to the playoffs
But the 1 race win is a bit
Ehhh
In general it's proven to be complete bullshit
Case and Point: Kevin Harvick in 2020
Dude was doing comeback Kyle Larson numbers and didn't even make the final 4 because of a bad stretch of 3 races
wtf?
nascar is fucked
in 2018,
saw it's first ever winless champion in the Playoff Format in the Truck Series with Matt Crafton
and the only reason why this was the case was because he was consistent enough to be in the Final 4 and be the highest placed Driver in said 4 despite not winning the race or any of the races prior to it, Regular Season or Playoffs
in other words dude won a championship without winning a single race.. in a championship format where winning is always 1st priority
