I've been a McLaren fan for 10 years, back when we were in the mud at the back of the grid.

People hate on whoever looks fast, and whatever driver is in a fast looking car.

People also have this year completely confused on the championship. It was always Max's to lose, not Lando's to win. Max always always had to completely forget how to drive to not win the drivers championship this year.

Yes, it got close for a while, but it was close with Max suffering and Lando almost always in the points.

Too many people don't realize it was never Lando's fault for "bottling" the championship. He made mistakes, the team made mistakes, crap conditions induced mistakes, etc but its not his fault for how the year ended up. It's racing. This year is one of the most exciting years in a long time for widespread winners and competitiveness. Just enjoy the year and what the drivers delivered to us and move. on.

I will never make anyone be a fan of anybody. The only thing I would say, is develop your personal likes and dislikes on your own to who you like or don't like and just stick to them. From my personal experience doing this, do it without online influence. I like who I like because of what I've seen from them, and that's it. No one can shake up who I like or don't like but me, but nothing anyone says online will make me change what I think of them so drastically where I'm not a fan anymore.

Also, in reference to the picture you sent of what someone said, that's just online toxicity in the formula 1 community. Not everyone is like that, and you shouldn't change to appease them. People online that say things like that, aren't worth the time you spent reading the message or entertaining what they said.

Don't get me wrong, a majority of the formula 1 community is still a good community, but since DTS was born there's been an influx of people who are toxic to other members of the community which is extremely unfortunate to see. You will find your niche if you give it time, and just interact with those who treat others with respect no matter their viewpoint on the sport. There's a reason why I countered the situation in this thread previously with the long response I gave, I give you or anyone else the respect people should have for each other when discussing a common interest.

We're all here because we're fans of the sport, and because we're all human and different we will like different people. There's just a point where the extra level of hostility to other community members or drivers, or even just F1 in general with all the staff and supporting crew isn't necessary.

Well said, Im relatively new to F1 but it’s just insanely toxic. I just wanna like who I like, and get along with people who also like the same sport I do regardless of which driver you like. Personally, Im not gonna switch up due to toxicity online, it just ruins the enjoyment of the sport. It’s super prevalent online, but thankfully in real life people aren’t hateful to me because I like Norris, and I found a chill group of people to watch F1 with.

I mean let's be realistic, no matter how they got to F1 whether it be paid driver or not. They are all competing in a sport tailored for 20 (give or take) of the worlds absolute best drivers. None of us here could even cope with the forces they deal with for 5 minutes, and they do it for an hour and a half. They are all incredible athletes in every right, and have trained their entire life to be in this sport doing what they love.
