Just read this thread if you think he isn’t

#

He’s one of the best in his craft.

If we're talking about right now then I don't know

#

cuz he is and always has been a fantastic driver and he's more than proven that

#

but saying he could still fight for titles?

#

eh???

#

I just think he's a bit overglazed because he seems to be incredibly popular in everything he does and people just blindly rally behind him

#

but whereas that gets other drivers a lot of hate it gets him a lot of support

#

but we saw him last year

#

give him a good car and the ability to fight up front and he absolutely has it in him for another championship

#

I think if Aston are the best car (not unlikely given they have an exclusive deal with the current champions honda, and surely to keep Fernando they must be focusing on 2026 more than the 25 development, as well as their new factory and facilities) Alonso could win in 26

#

20 years after his last championship is crazy

I think he's just viewed as some kinda god who can do no wrong

#

still think he's one of the best drivers in f1

#

don't think he's currently better than the likes of Verstappen leclerc Norris Sainz and even russell

#

in terms of consistency and being able to deliver

#

but he's still up there and on his day he can outclass all of those drivers except max

Over glazed is a lil diff from overrated no

#

Isn't over glazed just fans jumping on his hype train for no reason and hyping everything he does as if he's prime Schumacher

Great point, I think schumacher is a great example of why I think alonso over his career (more than fairly rated atm) is overrated. Sure he was the man to finally dethrone Schumacher, but Schumacher arguably wasn't even the best driver on the grid in his final championship years. Kimi and montoya nearly gave him a run for his money in 2003, and kimi was arguably the better driver during alonsos championship years

#

He absolutely is a driver deserving of respect but saying he could've gone level with seb or schumi on titles is a bit of wishful thinking imo. Especially with his off track attitude

seb?

#

imo Alonso is much better than seb

#

sebs performance outside of red bull wasn't as good as it was in red bull
