I’m a fairly new, casual viewer to the sport so there’s still a lot I don’t know. I never watched the last race and I haven’t seen qualifying or any practice sessions this weekend and I’m seeing comments about how McLaren & Red Bull are currently faster than Red Bull.
What has happened for people to be saying this? Apologies if it’s obvious but I’m a little confused at the moment.

Last year Red Bull was winning ever race by a mile, they won 22/23 races, now the other teams are catching up to them, namely Ferrari and McLaren

What changed specifically for this to happen? I know McLaren won the last race, but before that it was all Red Bull/Max domination for the season so far, right? Did McLaren & Ferrari make significant upgrades or are Red Bull struggling at the moment, or something else?

Redbull has been experiencing quite inconsistencies and it can be seen in the Australian GP, and sometimes when Max Verstappens complaints about the car. But also Mclaren has introduced upgrades in the Miami Grand prix, Ferrari beginning to introduce upgrades for this Imola GP. Carlos Sainz - Ferrari was the only person last year out side of redbull to take a gp win last year and he continued to do that this year, Lando Norris also winning this year. Which is why people are beginning to think that the racing has been getting closer. Hope this helps a bit
