#Penalty

5s is what it currently is, which is the same if you collide with someone and cause them to DNF
that can't be right
And its the same for going 0.1kph over the pitlane speed limit
well I get the harshness for speeding in the pitlane because that is there for safety so the penalty must be harsh to ensure its abided by
I mean, it's the FIA who allow photographers into the an active pitlane
But still, the mechanics are there too
regardless of who's there, cars must be slowed to the approved safe speed
I fully agree with the limit
But 5 seconds is pretty drastic
Logan was 0.1kph over speed limit and his punishment was 5s race time
Similar for track limits
An unintended gain of 0.1 seconds means the race stewards punish you with a 5 second penalty
10 sec penalty for ocon
that's the point though, it's not about the consequence, it's about the action, and when it comes to safety there have to be harsh penalties
