Well I don't know if it's fast yet but I do know that it has crazy fucking oversteer
yet again I've fucked up the suspension settings
and everytime I brake for a high speed corner I just end up doing 360
I have no idea what I changed for it to be so shit
I guess something in the rear is too stiff
maybe the rollbar
that lancia always reminded me of the flag of the rising sun
Good

Spoiler alert: ||It was lame, being an underpowered shitbox compared to other GT1 cars, at least they finished on 12th place. This was the 037's one and only JGTC race to this day.||

Not sure…. It may or may not be a March 74S?
Semi-related, since you and I kind of study japanese
I started listening to an f1 podcast in japanese to study

Really? That’s quite interesting
i posted about it in LB
it was actually pretty fun

Welcome. Over here, you can find things from the JSPC to the JTCC to even the Fuji Grand Champion Series and Suzuka 8 Hours
I feel like I just walked into a museum
This is the Nova 53S which competed in the Fuji Grand Champion Series
Kazuyoshi Hoshino is the driver
It looks insane. Was it fast?
I love this chat
It won the 1978 Fuji Grand Champion Series title
Here's my contribution. The first driver to win on the Suzuka circuit. Minoru Mitsuhashi, the winner of the 250 cc novice class in the first All-Japan Road Race Championship of 1962
Now that is an absolutely magnificent find
and contribution
Another shot from the same race. From Yamaha's history archive page
Ah, this is wonderful
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExooZKYTPbU&pp=ygUVSmFwYW4gR3JhbmQgUHJpeCAxOTY5 Just stumbled upon this at the moment
Excellent historic race footage. The 1969 Japanese Grand Prix was held on the banked Mount Fuji circuit. An Australian contingent went to Asia, taking on the Japanese teams.
The first trial Yamaha. The Ya1. And the men who built it. based on the RT125, a 125 cc motorcycle built by the German company DKW, a bike famous for being the most copied motorcycle by other brands.
Watching the guys struggle to get it wheeled onto the plane is insanely relatable
Woah.....
Apparently in an effort to get more performance out of the bike, for their foray into racing, they filled it with avgas ☠️
Translated from the Yamaha history archive
In preparation for participation in the Asama Highlands Race, President Kawakami ordered the technical team to double the YA1’s horsepower. Applying the principle of resonance used in trombones to the resonance of the exhaust system, the technical team boosted engine power by changing the size of the exhaust expansion chamber.
Trombone resonance tricks... Who would have guessed that'd give you 10 more horsepower.
Man I wonder what it sounded like
BRAAAAAAAAAAP BRAAAAAAAAAP
Sounds fantastic. Look at the size of that monster exhaust for that teeny tiny engine
See that's what I thought but no
interesting
thats quite a smooth sound actually
i suppose that makes sense in actuality
I'm quite fascinated by this
If you've got a translator, it's all in here.
Some really crazy stories
Fumio Ito riding in Yamaha’s first Isle of Man TT Race; he placed 6th (June 1961)
Amazing stuff, man
Interesting to see how the cowl turned into this whole shroud, which became common on all sorts of bikes. Even my old Honda has a really similar looking front
Which I guess begs the question, who stole it from who 🤔
The looks of these fairings are quite nice
Found it. The first ever truly Japanese bike from Yamaha (pictured here going for a test cruise with the company president) the YD1
No copy of any Europeans bikes. Struggled with some crankshaft issues early on but that all got sorted out. Went on to dominate the Asama Highlands race. Yamaha winning first second and third
whoa wtf
i may need to sketch that later
or look at different views
If you do you should post it in here
I'll see if I can find any more pictures of it.
Finding photos from the 60s is pretty hard
Oh look, someone sketched it
yeah i honestly just wanted to sketch it to wrap my head around the shape
because honestly this is the kind of curvilinear shape my graphic design brainworms love
yeah tell me about it.
60s makes sense. i should also check the design trends of 1960s japan in general
so the egg hole i can make sense of
the 35 right there
thats the one i wanna draw
i love how
oddly bulbous it is
the second angle of the 35 does actually help
That's the 63 model.
Idk if I totally understand the aero advancements... But given these guys tried to put avgas in a motorcycle like 2 years before that I don't think they do either
im ngl the egg with a hole in it seems like it might be worse
based on
NO data or anything
just the little physics simulation in my head
Strong temptation to render them and put em through a simulator... But unless I can find some really specific measurements it'd be a guess
@low ether help me find more Gen 1 bikes
Damn, I never knew Daihatsu made this
The Daihatsu P-5
YEAH YEAH YEAHA

The Shift Point Supra. It raced in the 1994 JGTC season, as well as it being one of two Supras that used 2JZ engines in the series
