I almost forgot to mention something regarding Ferrari in the JGTC

Actually, it's more towards a Ferrari driver. In 1998, Tetsuya Ota was involved in a very scary crash that saw his Ferrari immediately burst into flames. Fortunately, Shinichi Yamaji came to his aid and helped put out the fire.

Ota received burns from the accident, and he was fortunate to be alive after the accident

I would post the video here, but I fear this would be worthy of a mute

But what I can post is a photo of Ota's helmet after the crash

Last but not least, Shinichi Yamaji sadly died in 2014

Oh yeah, this was also the subject to a legal battle that happened

Ota eventually ended up filing a lawsuit against the race organizers

For the Super Formula championship, it dates all the way back to 1973

At the time, it was still the Japanese F2000 championship, with Motoharu Kurosawa being the series' first champion

For 1978, it became the Japanese F2 championship until 1986

1987-1995 saw the series become the Japanese F3000 championship, followed by it becoming Formula Nippon from 1996-2012.

2013-present saw the series become the Super Formula championship people know today

Sadly, there were some times where cars like these went airborne. Keiji Matsumoto was involved in an airborne crash in 1981, while in 1983, Toru Takahashi's car also went airborne, followed by him being killed in the accident.
