so I have to invite some ppl @heady canopy @twin estuary @solar zephyr
Huh?
hello
hm
c:
What is this for
Idk
.
Discuss what
Yuji ide
Oml
ot gen but just no spoil about that last session
Quali yea?
Oh I don’t watch f1 enough to care abt spoilers tbh
I prefer Satoru Nakajima
cause I'm watching Q1 rn xD
Kazuki Nakajima ohw (on his way) to score 0 points in 2009
I didn't open internet since qualifications so I'm not spoiled at all
Dont open gen 1 then
#BringBackYellowCars
fr
that's actually why I created this channel
Yellow looks so good on cars
tbf, I don't think it'll have a lot of success but I try
maybe if some cool ppl like @sleek cairn or @bold pier for exemple join, it can work c:
Perez finally Q3
xD
for sure
Lotus 99T was a hot car by itself tbh
Perez 2024 - 2030 WDC
I prefer Kazuyoshi Hoshino, even though Nakajima is in my pfp
Kazuki Nakajima on his way to become a double Super Formula/Formula Nippon champion
hm, not sure I’ve heard that name
oh I forgot that now they had to be on hard during Q1, medium Q2 and soft Q3
its so funny cuz he wasn't very good in F1 but he was awesome elsewhere
did they compete in F1 or only in SF/Formula Nippon
stands to say different cars for different folks, unless you're a V8SC driver, then you can drive anything
why do you think about that?
imo it's not good at all for lowfield teams
Good change actually made a fantastic qualifying
Hoshino competed in F1 during the 1970’s, but only during the 1976 and 1977 Japanese GP’s
which team?
It was for privateers
then again, the hard tyre demands something completely different from the car so that may or may not be the case
ah
F1 wildcard
motorcycle moment!!
oh he drove the Nissan R390 too
He also holds the records for most Super Formula titles, with him having 6
that’s really really cool
yes but while some teams can go in Q3 in medium, some struggle to go in Q2 with soft
Hoshino also won the 1992 24 Hours of Daytona alongside Masahiro Hasemi and Toshio Suzuki
That was the first victory for a Japanese manufacturer/driver btw
ok time to do more research into him
I also forgot to mention that he also drove the Calsonic Skyline in the JTCC
what, 92 Daytona?
Ah the Calsonic Skyline is iconic
also it might even help small teams since like
That thing of top teams saving the soft by using medium isn't there anymore, so it's more of an equal shot on a non qualifying tyre. I think it added that little element of unknown that spun things around a bit.
I like it. I know people complained about the change when it was announced but i thought it had potential to be a fun change
However, due to the winning Nissan being a special entry, it was ineligible for points
correct me if I'm wrong wasn't he a part of a donnington enduro in the BTCC in like the late 80s when the Nissan factory team came over
I always loved the way that the R91/R390 look
yeah ic, not convinced but I understand
Hmm…. I don’t recall that
I’ll have a look
the Le Mans Nissans just looked so nice
I know Nissan did the donnington enduro, I've forgotten their two drivers
the car took the lead early from the Cosworth Fords but fell off the podium later
Interesting
It’s a shame the Group C Nissans weren’t successful at Le Mans, but at least they found success in the JSPC
talk about rear wing
well one of the drivers i now recall was Win Percy who was the samurai with his little Mazda cars
Was George Fury another one of the drivers?
a shame
not George Fury i dont thinks....maybe Allan Grice?
Group C cars just looked good in general
I've gotta check
R90CP
The 1990 JSPC title winner
Jaguar and Nissan were probably my favourite Group Cs
But Percy and Grice
I’ve always loved the Sauber Mercedes C9 and C11
Jaguar XJR-9 and XJR-12 and Nissan’s R90/91 and R390
C11 was pretty epic
https://youtu.be/2Lx9flz8u9s Check this out
R92CP over 400km/h in a main straight line of Fuji Speedway. 1:14:088 1992 couse records (1987~2003)
The sight of those old Group C cars at old Fuji Speedway is something else
one of the interesting things about the 1988 BTCC season was the "rivalry" between Rouse and Soper. Now, Soper only did 4 races, but whenever he did arrive they always had a crazy battle in their Fords...
pretty sure the only other class A winner was Gerry Mahoney who won the opening race because Rouse had an engine problem
Guys
the interior of that R92
The Texaco Ford was a factory effort for Soper, Rouse was a self owned car
beautiful
But that’s the R90CP
Yep. Says it right in the title
ah right lol
either way that’s beautiful
and the shots of them racing around Fuji are just 🤌🤌
Ikr
When Sierras ruled the touring car world
there was a point where the Sierra was the only real competetive car, Supertouring was brought in here as a cheaper option (hehe) to attract more manufacturers...
to be fair at the very beginning supertouring was pretty cheap. It was a race prepped road car with minimal changes, then the wings came, then everything else, the price kept increasing
And then Supertouring was gone
Porsche 956 is not bad either
yellow of course because yellow race cars just look heavenly
So here is the longer video compilation, IMSA GTP Toyota (AAR modified TOMS/Dome Group C car and Eagle HF89). Recommended to watch the whole thing as its got historical commentary from the day along with annotations and documented historical facts from engineers at Toyota included for reference. These cars in 1989 ran with an inlet restrictor an...
IMSA GTP cars were downforce monsters
looks like it
The winning 1988 season where the GTP Nissan team won a record 8 races in a row.
Driver Geoff Brabham went on to win the drivers Championship for the first of 4 times in a row. Partnered with John Morton the winning streak was a record number of consecutive winning events in racing.
massive intake on the side too lol
My favorite IMSA GTP car has to be the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo
Highly successful in the GTP class, powered by the same VG30DE in the Nissan Z31 300ZX
it looks super funky if I remember but was insanely quick
massive air channels on the front
that’s the one
And here’s the Nissan NPT-90
looks similar to the R90
extra air channels on the front I guess
probably different engine too
Nope. Same VG30 as the GTP ZX Turbo
ah
The NPT-90 was also the last Nissan to win a GTP title
when, 1990?
1991
they won 1990 as well right
Yes
:)
Lol
It kinda reminds a little bit of the 59 Cadillac Cyclone
Man this thing was so cool
oh they made another version of this car
Hmm
I don't like that one as much
From the rear it looks badass
That is such a crazy concept
this car hit 404km/h
Fr? Damn
twin turbo V8
in 1979 mind you
yep
That's actually really impressive
accelerated to 404km/h in 1 minute and 56 seconds too apparently
👀
Mercedes C111-IV
the car I posted before was the C111-III
purely experimental prototypes
Motor V8 de 4850 cc, 48 valvulas, 2 turbos, 500 hp.
Velocidad maxima 403 km/h.
Absolutely crazy
this was the C111-II
Sounds super good
Ew
I can't exactly put my finger on it
But I've seen a car that looks similar to that
Bernd Rosemeyer had bested Mercedes the year before and while he was the man of the hour, Mercedes wasn't ready to give up just yet. In January of 1938 another record week was set up.
First off was Rudolf Caracciola in his Mercedes. He broke Rosemeyer's record by 17 miles per hour, clocking in at 270.4 miles per hour.
It was Rosemeyers turn a...
Speaking of Mercs and speed records
Almost like a Lotus or something mixed with a small bit of BMW
Mercedes were trying weird shit with these cars
That thing looks badass
And sounds like it too
wanker engines and inline 5s
I love how Mercedes has always been so testy
They make so many different cars
Experimental cars, I mean
ye
which engine was this?
I know it’s the W125 Rekordwagen
oh it isn’t the 125? did the 154 and 125 run in the same year?
no you’re right, the 125 looked way more streamlined
Damn
(this is the 125)
https://oldmachinepress.com/2016/11/20/mercedes-benz-w154-record-car/ It says here the chassis is the same as the W125
I love the teardrop design
ah 154 was 1939
And that the engine was a DAB V12
Same
What a design💀
Hey there
hey c:
I think it should
though by the late 30s Daimler Benz started labelling their engines as DB-(number)
hei
oh and it was DAB before that?
it seems that the engine powered the Mercedes W154 was the M154 (60 degree V12 supercharged)
which was based on the MD25 DAB/3 V-12 engine originally intended for the W125
I’m still not sure on why they chose DAB
since Mercedes engines are usually either M, OM, or DB
no, this isn’t an early aeroplane design
even crazier is that this was powered by the a variant of the engine that was used in the Bf109, the Daimler DB603–a massive 44L inverted V12 with a supercharger
What's dis if my dumbass can ask
it’s a car
a very weird one might I add
the Mercedes T80, a car they built with Heinkel (the aircraft manufacturer) and Ferdinand Porsche to break the land speed record
the target was 750 km/h
oh
it never completed a land speed record run due to World War II
guessing it used bicycle wheels like all cars of the time
I believe the wheels were taken directly from Auto Union racing
this shows the car without the V12, the engine would’ve been mounted in the middle where the empty gap is
i find it wild how cars were already that advanced then, except for the wheel width
this even had mechanical system which worked sort of like traction control
if the rear axle was spinning slower than the front axle then the fuel flow to the engine would be reduced so that more torque can be generated and sent to the rear axle (since it was rear-wheel drive) to compensate
so the driver doesn’t have to worry about anything except driving
shmart
and it probably generated humongous amounts of power, since it’s a plane engine
i think they already reached 600bhp in regular pre ww2 race cars
yeah, 2500hp+
it had a torque converter too so it wouldn’t just burn out at the start and having a torque converter meant no need for gearboxes
Hi
Very good, wbu?
sorry for late answer, I'm good too!
Its fine, glad to hear you're good!
Hi
Hey c:
