In Q1 Verstappen set an amazing lap ensuring a passage to Q2 after only 1 set of tyres, Sainz had a major lockup and drive into the wall, disqualifying himself. Everything else is routine, Bottas also setting perfect laps.

Q2 brought a bit more chaos. Russell, Hamilton, Leclerc, and Albon all get disqualified after a red flag caused by a wild Gaunyu.

It's lights out and away we go again! Verstappen gets a good start, bottas not so much! Norris is on his heels as they head into turn 1, side by side onto the grass AND DOWN THE INSIDE HE GOES! Lots of shuffling in the back as Logan Sargeant goes wide and into the gravel, hopping and skipping over the stones as he rejoins further back in the field.

However Alonso is not willing to give up his championship lead. After the Norris-Bottas squabble he pulled out 11 seconds ahead of Bottas in second! And it's lights out and away we go! Bottas gets away very well, but here comes Alonso right behind him to close the gap; here's Albon and then Norris, down turn 3, much faster than Albon as he goes down his inside, and overtakes him!
Alonso, now, gets the lead of the race while Bottas follows! They're already wheel to wheel, look at that! Alonso locks up at turn 7, lets Bottas through, AND HERE COMES LANDO NORRIS! It's a fantastic overtake by the British, as he now is in 2nd place. What a move!

Okay so Verstappen and Hamilton are battling down here and then there's Leclerc closing in on both of them and he literally goes right into him on the straight. That looks like such a purposeful crash.

Alright, let's also look at the race start again.
As the lights go out you can see Bottas has insane reaction time but Alonso chases him. There's Norris who proceeds to overtake both of them and from this angle we get to see how the midfield started. Tsunoda gets a good jump but gets passed on the main straight by his teammate and now there's a battle ensuing between Zhou and Sargeant. At the back of the field is Hulkenberg starting right at the rear with De Vries right in front and he goes for the overtake of both him and Sargeant but gets blocked off and has to brake.

Alonso has got a decent start But Hamilton has had a majestic start and coming into the first corner has overtooken both Bottas and Verstappen! What a great start for Hamilton And Russell is able to catch Verstappen to make it into P3, what a majestic start for both the Mercedes.

However Verstappen isn't happy with that start. He is tailing Russell throughout turns 2 to 7. Onto the straight after turn 10 and he's side by side with the Brit! Into corner 11 and he makes the move back into P4

#

Watching the start back we see the amazing start from the American of Logan Sargeant. Starting from P20 he has a lightning reaction time of 0.053 seconds and makes it up to P16 into turn 1 where he made a wonderful move up to P13

Perez was also able to jump Norris into turn 1.

Cutting back to the chase for the top 5. Bottas makes his way past George Russell and Max Verstappen pressuring Lewis Hamilton once again

Lap 2 of the GP, Zhou is gaining on Alonso, with DRS, Alonso on the grass! AND THEY TOUCH! Alonso off into the gravel and is rejoining the track, that's a destroyed front wing. Zhou is also in the gravel, but managed to get out and he looks ok to continue.

Everyone is in the pitlane, and it's chaos in there! Sargeant almost collides with Perez, Stroll does collide with Zhou, and Ocon, Hulkenberg, and Magnussed are all caught up in a jumbled mess, blocking the pitlane. Only one that's stayed out is Ricciardo for some reason and he slips into the walls, he'll limp home at half speed. Bottas is STILL grappling with Leclerc.

Schumacher passes Zhou with a sweeping outside move, but goes on the grass, looking for grip. He gives the position back but quickly reovertakes him. At the front of the grid, Sainz is gaining almost a second a lap up to Bottas because Bottas is sliding around too much. The thunder has started and the slight drizzle has turned into a rainstorm.

BREAKING NEWS: VERSTAPPEN TO MISS VEGAS, REPLACEMENT VETTEL
Following the Turn 1 incident, Verstappen was visibly frustrated as he walked off to the paddock. All of the red flags and safety cars in the rest of the race gave Verstappen enough time to evaluate his decision to step away from F1 for Vegas. He stated that he would be attending cycling and karting tournaments for the month, and he said that he only did this because he wouldn't win the championship anyway. Horner revealed during the red flags that Vettel was going to race with Red Bull at Vegas. Vettel is "excited to race" as Red Bull might find him as a potential replacement for Perez for '24 if he does well enough.

Williams's upgrades have paid off as it's an incredible result in qualifying, Sargeant missing pole by +0.003. Russell will start in the pits as he was on the racing line while Piastri was on a fast lap near the start of Q1. Piastri's front wing brushed against Russell's front right tyre causing Piastri to get front wing and suspension damage, while Russell got a puncture. Piastri tried to turn but collided with the wall, while Russell limped home with some damage to the front of the car, and he couldn't set any good laptimes.
