jesus, that's skin and bone.
what's on atm? UCI doesn't seem to really say much.
Vuelta will start this Saturday
let's go Remco
pls no COVID infection this time like in the Giro
rofl
What team JUMBO Visma has holy fuck.
Kuss, Vingegaard, Kelderman and Roglic would all be GC leaders in any other team.
cracks me up there's a dude unironically named Attila
🚨 Roglič to Trek?
Both parties are talking. Current contract to 2025, buyout necessary. Complicated, but an interesting move for a team with a much bigger budget than last year.
Big picture: If he wants to try for the TDF again, he has to leave.
That's awful he was such a talented rider, he won Paris-Roubaix Espoirs this season.
Rust zacht Tijl.
This is an awful season, after Gino Mader now Tijl too.
😦
really sad to see the amount of people we've lost this season.
The rain is truly leaving no prisoners today in the team time trial ❌
#LaVuelta23
💀
Yeah I don't think this was a good idea starting so late
I think the organizers saw it more as a celebration and show more than an actual opportunity for riders to grab a lot of seconds already.
Furious Remco Evenepoel speaks outrage over team time trial: 'This was riding between life and death '
was inevitable with the rain
Only thing you can hope for as a team is that the last rider crashes and not the first one.
Ineos only the first rider fell but the riders behind him were totally compromised and lost loads of time.
Noooo Rioglic
what happened to him?
Its rainy and slippery
there too? dayum
who won stage 2?
You can't park there mate #LaVuelta23
@JumboVismaRoad @lavuelta
I was doing Zwift and I found Cal Crutchlow, former MotoGP rider, wow
Yeah, he's following the blue robopacer in Makuri Islands map
I joined the group between intervals and saw him lol
The safety is subpar this vuelta holy shit
what happened this time
he must have been pissed
Yeah, apart from a small wound it wasn't that bad though so he was glad for that.
Surely could've been easily avoided.
People don't even look from here they come.
jesus
💀
The organizers apologized to Remco for what happened yesterday, so hopefully it doesn't happen anymore.
watch them do it again
La Vuelta 🤩
based
thats amazing
dope
Btw another crash today
At just over 3k as well
Could’ve easily taken out a GC contender
bruh
These roundabouts are always a risk in the finale.
Remco already said it before the start it was a dangerous last 10kms
yeah it definitely was
https://twitter.com/VelonCC/status/1696970007471595933 how they do this is still beyond me

If I do that I famm on the ground
Respect for doing that tho if a peleton is coming there at high speed it might be a problem
Next stage is gonna be tough and exciting.
closest i ever did was a skid on a hardtail
We haven't seen Vingegaard a lot yet but I don't know, something in me thinks he's still tired from the Tour and not 100%.
We'll see tomorrow
oh well today
close enough
that wouldn't surprise me at all tbf
Kobe Goossens stops #LaVuelta23 😟💔

yeah i saw kuss went down apparently
from hero to zero, the casual Vuelta 2023 treatment
crazy
great organisation
both with cameras and route
can't believe this is a grand tour
ah, so Martinez lost it, sadge
This is why I've always been saying he should move to another team to become the leader there.
Like this is incredible. He drove ALL THREE grand tours this year.
Kuss is a machine
I'm a fan.
this would for a great sport
now instead of the water bottle, make it a ball
boom
bicycle-football
that exists actually
what
yeah 😭
it's sanctioned by the UCI too

get out
I get people are saying that performing on the top of your level for three weeks straight in a grand tour and being a domestique that can take off days is something completely different. But what he did this season already is nothing short of amazing. I've never see a rider perform on his level that do all three tours (Sorry Adam Hansen).
He's so good in mountain stages often still being with Vingegaard or Roglic while their biggest competitors are already dropped. Then he usually drops even further when he's done so he'd need to work on better use his energy over a longer period but still that's an easy top 10 in the Tour if he gets the chance.
Spanish police arrested a man that threatened to drive into the peleton yesterday just in time.
what happened this time lol
good on them
moving to MTB i see
fucking nora
just realised this was the finish 😭
Yeah also love how someone is there with pen and paper noting who passes the finish.
Like the finish a few days ago where they had to ask fans for video to see who finished at what time.
Amateurism
Oh nothing, just race commissaries using fan videos for confirmation at the bonus point… 🥴

They have transponders. This is what they use during the Tour.
Not sure where it's located during the Vuelta.
ah got you
I can explain that
I was on the end of a 3rd category climb and I asked them why
They need to have the video (recorded normally from both sides) in case something goes wrong
The draw a line on the ground and record
But I can confirm that you can see nothing from it
But they just do it
In case times of arrival were the same on the sheet of times and all of that
Just in a very very very very remote case they would need it
Very big rains are happening here in Spain
Basically all the La Vuelta boycott (specially in cataluña) with the radicals trying to take down La Vuelta with all the punctures that happened (were provoked with pins) and the oil guy in the highway…
And now this
But when La Volta de cataluña is on they never do anything
Independentists
i don't see what's wrong in this pic
well, large events like that are political
weren't there issues when the Vuelta went to the basque country when the ETA was still active?
Shit I copied the image and not the link https://twitter.com/guardiacivil/status/1697954023180280052?s=20
so the Vuelta didn't go to the basque country then?
That wasn’t the solution imo, as a country if you have a threat that something like this could happen (since it happened before) don’t organize these things because you put in danger loads of people + the citizens that were always in danger
Like there was no point in doing it when you have that in your country
i don't know this race much, so that was a genuine question: did they go or not ?
i think we didn't stop going to our small bit of the basque country for the Tour de France at the time
They went there and the exploded a bomb on the road
ah
There wasn’t any cyclist involved
But the leader said no I won’t stop and continued racing alone for 25 minutes
Later they suspended the stage
Yeah I saw it, thanks 😂
plenty :/
2 min
I bet he will stay first of the Jumbos in the overall classification
And the overtake Evenpoel in the non TT stages
Basically the rest

Roglic is doing well
Poor guy been sitting in the hotseat pretty much all stage.
Congrats to Ganna

is the stage joever?
Yup Kuss just finished
so how much has Kuss lost
who won that TT?

Yesterday, the 27-year-old Fleming was fitted with an internal defibrillator (ICD) to correct potential future cardiac arrhythmia. After thorough testing, Van Hooydonck was diagnosed with a heart muscle anomaly that caused the disorder that nearly claimed his life last Tuesday. The findings mean the end to Van Hooydonck's professional career
That's the best choice.
damn, that makes it even better that he survived
was Quick step this bad? not even on the pic 😦
If Quick Step has a disappointing Spring they're not there yeah
Only for Evenepoel to save them then
Hopefully they get a few more climbers.
Their Giro was completely beheaded by Remco getting COVID.

WorldTour team managers and agents I'm currently speaking to are very sceptical about a possible merger between Jumbo-Visma and Soudal Quick-Step. If it's happening - and @raykerckhoffs is very well informed - only a handful of executives are aware. It's caught everyone off guard

Glad the merger news has died down
A lot of people would've been fired if that had gone through
yeah
Tomorrow next year's Tour de France parkour will be reveiled.
All we know right now is it starts in Florence on June 29th and it ends in Nice on July 21st.
(Please have at least 2 or 3 time trials)
A team time trial is always fun, too.
oh yeah, time trials are so good for the race suspense
I don't mind flat stages but not like it was like 10 years ago; first week almost only flat stages and then a last one on the Champs-Élysées.
(run the last stage as a time trial)
yep
8 seconds is the final gap
and with that said, LeMond is the only american to have won the TdF
Someone give Kuss a fair shot
That story of 1989 has been a few times on tv here not only because it was one of the most exciting editions but also because Greg's team owner is a commentator here and he was the one that gave Greg the Thriathlon steering wheel that basically won him the Tour.
If you compare how he sat on that bike to now that wouldn't even be too far off. He was so aerodynamically on his bike.
yeah, Fignon complained ofc and aaid it was cheating
Of course
I don't really like it either how some teams are able to spend millions on specialised suits and bikes but this wasn't even the case here. Lemond's team barely had any money during the Tour. He was about to abandon that Tour on one of the rest days cause he wasn't being paid.
I'd prefer cobblestones over gravel cause of the risk of getting punctures
Shame they're not going to the north there are some nice cobblestones sections over there
wait why are they doing some events in italy???
ah
Also to give the opportunity to fans from other countries to watch a stage.
@cobalt grove Finally again a time trial as the last stage, the last time was...1989.
haha
I didn't even realize, Stage 4 is already the Col du Galibier. Damn, that's really early.
That's Hors Catégorie
dang lmao
That's the earliest they've ever gone to the mountains like ever.
Gonna be a tough Tour for the sprinters
At least they have some more time to recuperate? Compared to when every mountain stage is cramped within a week.
@tepid rivet One race I remember that went ahead during a storm was Gent Wevelgem in 2015. The full race is even still on YT. Several drivers fell cause of the heavy wind gusts, it was super dangerous.
32 seconds · Clipped by Sven · Original video "Sporza Retro: Waaierspektakel in Gent-Wevelgem in 2015" by Sporza
Especially if you have like unpredictable heavy wind gusts it can get dangerous really quickly.
I would like to think if something were to happen like in 2015 rn, they would postpone the race too.
That's also how I got into it.
And playing cycling games ofc
Its pretty popular here so they stream every big race
+1
my dad always watches it, so i tag along sometimes
Haha
And when I was younger, I was a bit of a fan of Alberto Contador
you can still be fan of riders despite knowing they were doping imo 🙂
I was a fan of Andy Schleck
Just cause I didn't believe a rider from a country as small as Luxembourg couldn't win a Tour.
Despite it being a decent country in cycling tbh
Kim Kirchen, the Schleck brothers, Alex Kirsch, Bob Jungels.
Also their cycling kits were so clean
I miss (Radioshack) Leopard Trek
Also the last team Wouter Weylandt rode for before he died during the Giro of 2011 😔
Soooo I've got a friend that knows Purito Rodríguez (the one in the image), and this friend has loads of cycling kit that Purito gave him and now that friend has given me most of what he has because he has the same size as me, aaaannnnnddddd he gave me the jumpsuit (not a malliot, the aero jumpsuit) that Purito used for the Spanish championship, and he won with the same one that I have now lol
devious smile on rodríguez
he looks like someone who would ride for Movistar

🧐

Goodbye brown shorts 💔
they’re really gonna use Decathlon bikes?
They are apparently gonna get Cofidis' previous supplier
Holy shit it's a brand from Decathlon, I didn't even realise
AG2R riders also initially worried about Decathlon bike: 'But I'm blown away', says Oliver Naesen
AG2R announced yesterday that it will ride Decathlon's road bike brand in the coming years: Van Rysel. It raised eyebrows among many cycling followers. "But I haven't received any negative comments yet," says team boss Vincent Lavenu. "The riders think the bike is incredible."
"Bikes from Decathlon, you immediately think of bikes for novice cyclists. That was also the concern with some riders at first."Stan Dewulf and his Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale teammates were bombarded with questions about their new machine yesterday at the team presentation.
The French team swapped its BMC bike in a for a professional race bike from Decathlon: Van Rysel. A Decathlon bike in the WorldTour?
"It's logical that people are rubbing their hands a bit," says newcomer Sander De Pestel. "Indeed, Decathlon does not have the reputation of having bikes for pro riders."
But De Pestel himself was soon won over by a future teammate.
"Oliver Naesen was the first to send me a message about the bike: 'You'll be shocked, mate'," he wrote. "You won't know what you're getting."
The Tour will start in 2025 in Lille, near the Belgian border but does not come to our country. Perhaps even more striking: the peloton passes through the Paris-Roubaix course, but avoids the cobblestones. Twice a shame. Although Wout van Aert will not necessarily be dissatisfied.
...
Stage 1: Lille-Lille
The peloton makes a big loop around the metropolis, passing close to the Belgian border. There are three hills along the way, including Zwarteberg and Kasselberg, but they are too far from the finish to play a major role.Stage 2: Lauwin-Planque-Boulogne-sur-Mer
Spicy stage with four hills, three of which are in the finale: the Côte de Cavron Saint-Martin, the Côte du Haut Pichot, the Côte de Saint-Etienne-au-Mont and the Côte d'Outreau.Stage 3: Valenciennes-Dunkerque
As in the opening stage, the peloton rides over the Kasselberg: 1.7 kilometres at 4.2 per cent over (light) cobblestones. This time the summit is closer to the finish, but still too far (30 km) to set the course.

We all know about wireless shifting and dropper posts, but why haven`t we seen wireless braking yet? Wireless components are becoming extremely popular, with the emergence of products such as SRAM's AXS wireless groupsets and dropper posts. More wireless components mean fewer cables and cleaner cockpits, but one area was yet to be given the wireless treatment: Brakes! And the Tour of the Algarve earlier in the season.
Hopefully he'll win a few stages in the Tour de France this summer
Going for a GC will be a little early I think
Unless there are like 3 time trials
Where's the time France had Bardet and Pinot going in the GC and ASO organised Tours with the least possible time trials cause Bardet and Pinot sucked at it. We need this with Evenepoel but the other way around.

I would love to see him win the olympics
⚠ For safety reasons and following a request from @cpacycling, the #ParisRoubaix organisation is modifying the approach to the Trouée d'Arenberg.
The route will take a chicane just before the entrance to the sector in order to slow the speed at which the riders enter the sector…
https://fixupx.com/stefanorizzato/status/1775573185171177660/en "safety reasons" 😭
📑 Translated from Italian
Here is the chicane introduced at the entrance to the forest of #Arenberg , just made official for #ParisRoubaix @RaiSport
What happened did they crash?
Vingegaard I mean
Roglic I saw yesterday
Primos and Remco too
Yes
Vingegaard has broken ribs and collarbone
Same as Van Aert that crashed last week
broken collarbone and shoulder blade for Remco
Vingegaard looked 20x worse from broadcast
It’s good that he got away with less than what it looked like
It was really really bad from broadcast
Wasn’t moving at all, or even talking
The medical team took him to the hospital with an oxygen mask
Those broken ribs probably affected his breathing
😬
Broken ribs are very very very painful
christ that's horrible
How did that happen did another stupid person put a sign like that one year during the tour of France
Looked just like a misjudgement
The hole with concrete next to a high speed corner shouldn’t be there
If there was a normal runoff to the woods then the riders could have avoided that crash and only go wide and lose positions
And in the worst scenario crash in the grass, but that’s much better than suddenly stoping and hitting concrete
I don’t think organisers could’ve done much about that crash
It’s just a random corner in the middle of the stage on a slight descent
Completely unusual and unpredictable spot to crash
And if I recall correctly Evenepoel managed to go through the woods
They knew months before it was a dangerous spot and did nothing about it
Did they know it was a dangerous spot?
Yeah
How? Does the asphalt have some issues with it? Is the turn opposite banked?
Like to me
It just looked like a normal corner
That the front runners misjudged
And went far too fast through it
And everyone followed through
If they were to fix every single concrete hole along roads where cycling races occur, that would cost insane amounts of money
IT IS PARIS ROUBAIX RACE DAY
PARIJS ROBAAIS LATEN WE GAAN
Paris Roubaix is probably my favorite race of the year
So many secteurs pavés
And the finish at the Vélodrome is just iconic
yeah it's a great one day race
love the price they get for winning the race
like the trophy
only one dude from Roubaix won that race
well that was one sided
reminds me of another event today where a dutch won quite easily.
Tbh it was soo expected that VDP was gonna win ngl
I'm a Van Aert fan but let's be realistic
It's like ham fans thinking he's gonna win another 2 world championships
isn't he injured?
Philipsen could've brought VdP in an uncomfortable spot just like Gianni Vermeersch did after Trouée d'Arenberg.
The most violent attack in the history of Paris-Roubaix: Mathieu van der Poel accelerates on the cobbled sector of Orchies at 60 km/h. 🚀 He literally left everyone in the dust today. #ParisRoubaix

this was fucking mental to watch
He is but ...
christ
Uuuh I feel his pain
holy shit lmao
Even his hands are doped tho
eeee th ere is no doping in cycling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or so people say
This man and poggy surely must be doped
Like look at what vdp does
Casually attacks 60kms away from the end
On the biggest race of the year
what's wrong with that though? that's still 190km already done
Yeah !
it's not as if he attacked at the 10 kilometer and would keep the lead till the end
He does 210 kms to attack on cobblestone and alone for 60 kms or around 2 hours, builds a 3 minute gap and doesn't have a single scratch on his hands, obviously he doesn't have a puncture because he's so lucky
And that's normal
And he does it 2 years in a row
HOW CAN THAT BE NORMAL
well that's precisely on cobblestone that an attack will be more effective, because other people won't have good "traction" to counter it
Nvm you didn't get it
Lol
Everyone is doped
But it doesn’t take away from the beauty of the sport
Because everyone in the peloton is doping, it kind of levels out across the board and it’s still about the talent and hard work of the individual rider
Or who can dope better and has the better pharmacy ahahah (Visma)
Still, it’s always been so throughout history
Race neutralisation means more time to pet the dogs! 🐶

Wiebes thought she had it and startrd celebrating but nope lmao
So Vos got it
Lmao
thats so funny when it happens
remember
what's Roglic up to nowadays
Well this is looking really bad for MVDP
Um.. no clue, recovery?
50 seconds behind the breakaway
With 12 men in the break
Pidcock, Benoot, and many strong others ahead
And not many men pulling behind
20km to go
So I was cycling
But my brother had a puncture
So while he's changing the tyre i'm there waiting on discord
And it's the rear tyre
10kms left
Wish me luck guys
Anyone here also watches mtb?
Road tyre?
yeah
yeah, whenever i can really
well thats a bit of a lie, haven't watched in a few years but i would whenever it's on now
I only watch mtb when WCs or Olympics are on
Male elites are racing rn world cup
Lap 5 of 7
In eurosport if anyone is interested
ill have a look
The pace is getting slower, probably they'll end up in a group of 11 riders
Predictions for Sunday?
If anyonw is interested
XCE (eliminator) consists of 2 to 4 laps around a very short track with 4 cyclists where only 2 pass to the next round
is vdP taking part
Anyone watching the Giro?
I used to pay a lot of attention cause I was curious how far Cian Uijtdebroeks would get in the GC but since he’s left the Giro ill, I have paid less attention to it.
fair, seems like another domination of Pogacar anyway, not very interesting
Yeah exactly
go off
what happened?
Ben O'Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) slammed Giro d'Italia organisers as "dinosaurs" for initially refusing to bow to rider demands to significantly alter Stage 16 due to heavy rain and snow at high altitude.
The Giro was engulfed in chaos and confusion on Tuesday as riders expressed serious concerns over the hazardous conditions of the race, which featured a climb to almost 2500m in miserable weather before a sharp descent.
Leading the outcry was O'Connor, whose candid remarks highlighted the tension between the riders and the race organisers.
"It's probably one of the worst organised races I think, I'm just being honest," O'Connor bluntly told Eurosport.
it was very poorly handled
I see it’s not only Vuelta with poor organisation
and what about that, was it directed at Ben? 😵💫
go off as in preach
ah ok 😄
I think it’s disrespectful by O’Connor
The organisation has made the right choice
They listened to you
They obviously have economical interests, so it makes sense that they hoped and asked for the best
The organisers asked the riders to parade for a few kms, which they refused to do, which makes sense
But I don’t see the reason for Plapp or O’Connor to be so disrespectful
The organisers have been doing this for over 100 years, leave it to the experts.
Bert Van Lerberghe (137) had a nice take on this, where he says he understands the economical aspects and respects the organisers, but appreciates that in the end the start was moved
Also, he stated that the cycling union has little power, as there’s no money to back it, but honestly he’s happy with what was done in the end by organisers
So idk why these young riders are being so disrespectful towards the organisation, when they’ve prepared these fantastic stages, beautiful finish in stage 15, beautiful rest day, and then they cry today
Pogacar also said that he was open to do anything he was asked
On a side note: How kind of Tadej, gave his pink jersey and glasses to Pellizzari which finished second, almost looked like he wanted to give the win away if they finished together, as he kept turning around to check on him.
Pogacar’s support in this Giro is insane
I was at the stage today
At Padova
And everyone cheered him the most, more than Johnny Milan and Tiberi
It’s actually insane the love and support from the fans for this giro
well it’s only normal, he’s spectacular!!
I hope he does the giro again next year
He’s insane, he’s really putting on a show
I don’t understand the people that criticise him honestly
For once the giro has a true champion that lights up the race
which is better in your opinion, vuelta or giro
And they cry about him not giving a free win to other riders
I’m biased as I’m Italian
Obviously giro for me
But the past years, Vuelta has been above the giro
Giro for me as well
This year though the Giro is beautiful
my mate suggests they swap the dates
I agree
to avoid the snow issues of the other day
Too much rain and snow in this period in Italy
vuelta doesn’t have much high altitude nowadays
Yeah
They should swap them for sure
The Tour should always stay in the middle though
As it’s the biggest Grand Tour
By far
I wish we would get a Vingegaard - Tadej at the the Giro or Vuelta soon
Also, Van Hooydonck said he thinks Pogacar will do Paris Roubaix next year
I mean on Eurosport he said “Pogacar riding Paris Roubaix next year” pretty nonchalantly. Everyone was surprised
Obviously it’s speculation, but could we actually see that next year???
Would be sick
And Jonas said he wants to try for the triple (Giro-Tour-Vuelta), although I see it unlikely unless Tadej is injured
Yeah he could try, but jonas would definitely give him a hard time
On a climb like the angliru Jonas would gap Pogacar
And a big gap too I think
So if Tadej comes from two grand tours
And has to do the Vuelta
On the Angliru
He’s losing minutes
I wish if Pogacar wins the Tour he would go for the Vuelta too, but I highly doubt it
His schedule is already decided and I doubt he would go for last minute changes
Although it would be a dream to see him try right now for all 3
If anyone manages a triple they’re automatically in GOAT contention
But it’s super unrealistic for Pogacar
He’s got Olympics too and then il Lombardia
At the end of the season
real af
👌
☠️
they dropping a new rap album
I don't have much hope for Evenepoel this Tour.
He already couldn't follow in the Dauphiné.
last stage is Monaco -> Nice
This one is a time trial
yes, as it's only 34 km long
it's been a while since the Tour has ended with an actual stage and not a procession
maybe we'll get super close end result like in 89 where it was like 8 seconds or sth
neat
Van Aert just too late 😠
First win for Arkea B&B Hotels after 11 TdF participations.
just as my boy Barguil left, funny.
The Tour de France passed through Imola today
WHAT A STAGE
MARK CAVENDISH DOES IT!!!
Beats it
well, how many grand tours has Cavendish won :DD
i think it's like with F1, careers span longer now. Cavendish seems to have done his first TdF in 2007!
he's literally as old as Sir Lewis.
but, because he's a sprinter he can't achieve as much as Merckx the goat
yup
Many tought he was finished before going back to Quick Step
hes at Astana
It feels every time that when a eider joins quick step they become great and when they move on they are kinda washed.
Gaviria for example. He was the best sprinter in the world at Quick Step.
Now you hardly ever hear from him.
Jakobsen
mood

and he closes the gap!

against who was it, do we know?
bruh
even reggie miller is pissed lmao
😔 not the kind of news we want to hear
Did I read that correctly that someone died at the toure de France?
Not France nvm
Rest in peace 🙏
Gravel stage in the TdF today
The Goat. Bini.
yay
🥱
Did Cavendish won the tour De France?
not yet
Only needs to make up 1H 52M 33S to Pogacar and boom
💀
Well, I think the positive takeaway from this Tour from his side is he has beaten Merckx' record.
he returned only so he could win one more stage
[ Stimo hated that. ]
Flat stage merchant
his best result at the Tour overall is 127th :))
and across his career, he has scored the great amount of 0 points of the mountain at the TdF
took me so long to find the info smh.
me
From the moment theres a molehill in the stage profile

Vingegaard, that’s it, that’s the message.
@warm nova would you be happier if it was Sagan who beat Eddy's record?
i know he's very far from it
warra tour from jakobsen
Nein
ohh cool
shame i'm going to the zoo with my mam!

In 2011 Jelle Vanendert won @ Plateau de Beille and in 2015 Joaquim Rodríguez won there. That was the last time the Tour finished there.
