It was one of the only times Ayrton lost focus
all cause his team told him to slow down
Smol F1 car
So cool
Indeed I have more I can share
Please
This is like the same moment or clip just a bit earlier
Missed a car
This is also a bit later in the clip likely still Monaco
That’s beautiful how the background blurs and car speed focus
There’s so much I wanna share, I don’t particularly know your interest however.
Look at the server we are in
Show me all of it
Please!
Jackie Stewart explains Nurburgring in documentary driving in Nurburgring for the interviewer.
This is before I believe this pic or clip
Marlboro logo unknown track
Don’t know this track but sick pic
Very
Nurburgring banking pics
Beauty
2nd gear banking left
Cool camera faces driver in 70’s
Also found documentary or stuff related to female drivers possibly exclusively Lella Lombardi in the 70’s
Senna McLaren in factory being built
So it’s a 92 mclaren prebuilt
In other documentary they are discussing worlds greatest F1 cars and I believe this was an experimental
That right there is the 1938 Auto Union Typ.C Stromline
The Streamliners and Mercedes Rekordwagens were super aerodynamically slippy Grand Prix cars with full bodies that went along autobahns to set speed records
Ah I see
Here it is underneath the slippy body
Running a 6,008cc, twin-supercharged V16
F1 didn't exist when those cars were made
This being the Type C Streamliners' rival
How they turned any corner is beyond me
Jeez
Looks like an eraser turned car
Or bullet train
I believe they were meant for vmax runs
not for steering
Woah woah woah Audi?
I just saw logo up close
Sheesh
Auto Union rebecame one of the four founder names, Audi, after acquiring NSU in 1969
McLaren M29B with a V8 naturally-aspirated Ford Cosworth engine. Prost started 12th and finished 6th on his 1st F1 race.
in mid rear position as well!
also quite fun how they managed to get more grip with these skinny tyres: just put two, side to side
think at the time they were incapable of making much wider tyres
hand moving to pet dog
Jesus Christ lmao
I knew the original one was miserable and tiny but man
ah yes rookie Prost
not many people knew that he didn't spend his rookie season at Renault, but actually at McLaren
Yep
Suiting up
Camel my beloved
The tension and dispute that never truly gotten defused
One has a front wing and the other one doesn’t
Sad
Who was quicker usually?
NSU?
NSU were a German car company that patented the Wankel Rotary
Villeneuve was definitely quicker but the Ferrari crew posted the slow sign from the pits which Villeneuve thought was to slow down and hold position, but Pironi caught him offguard and Villeneuve was not able to get him in 2 laps
In there careers? Possibly Villeneuve. He had more wins, points per gp, podiums per gp, fastest laps, etc, but pironi had more points and poles.
Villeneuve was the faster and better driver of the two
Before Max and Lewis had their Monza accident
Ayo that was RedBull Mercedes car.. so.. plot twist?!
Jk, that was Sauber
Petronas + Red Bull + Rebadged Ferrari Engine
Wtf
Didn’t Sauber use Petronas (Ferrari) engines in 1998?
Yes
yeah and in 97 as well
there was that infamous incident where a Sauber was blocking Jacques Villeneuve in Jerez at the season finale
Pedro Diniz was responsible iirc
Wait a minute, I’m wrong. Diniz was at Arrows, while Norberto Fontana was at Sauber during the season finale
either way it was a sauber driver
Sauber used Petronas rebadges from 1997-2005
Petronas did do some reworking like the oil sump but not much
If only they still did this now
too many kids now watching i guess
Its a shame
The uncompetitive Arrows somehow getting dragged into the lead and stayed there.... Until it suffered from mechanical problems on the last laps
Circuits where power doesn't really matter, and a John Barnard joining the team and fixing the issues of the car
What year?
Um so I know a guy who has a helmet that he used when he tested out to be a midland f1 driver and he got it signed by the 2 drivers and test driver. Is it worth stuff?
1997
history
Cool to see pics of senna in his lotus suit
Who’s in the bottom pic
A girl
who
A girl that has a name
but what is her name
why dont you ask her
why the hell is she wearing shin-high sneakers
Because she's... Uhhhh
Called the 60s, ever heard of it?
She was used as a distraction down the main straight, as drivers behind got a view which made them distracted and crash.
Masterplanning by Ferrari
60fps upscaled clip of the 1973 Spanish Grand Prix at Montjuïc (please watch in 720p60 or 1080p60), from the 1975 film "One by One". I added car sounds to the video, as the original film used music in these scenes instead of real sounds. The race was won by Emerson Fittipardi driving Lotus 72.
My channel (including this video) is not monetized.
What a cool video
Coming over that hill
Absolutely wild
No driver assistance
Had a reputation for crashing quite a lot, but he was also quite a speedy driver behind the wheel of his car
Qualifying at Long Beach ‘82, one of De Cesaris’ finest moments
his only pole, and he led for quite a while
Australia 1996, does anyone know why Hill is so much filthier than Villeneuve?
ahhh
11 WDCs and 11 WDC Runner-ups all in 1 photo
oil leaked from Jacques car
Hills car got caught it in
Niki Lauda suiting up for the 1977 German GP at Hockenheim, just one year after his near-fatal accident
(he won)
Niki Lauda was different animal back then.
He was built different.
Of course he did, fucking legend he was
Crazy to think the entire history of F1 can be drawn through only 6 drivers: Fangio-(Graham)Hill-Lauda-Prost-Schumacher-Raikkonen
I mean
Not including this season of course
Fangio: 50-58
Hill: 58-75
Lauda: 71-85
Prost: 80-93
Schumacher: 91-12
Raikkonen: 01-21
Lewis is a better pick instead of kimi to include this year as well
Still would include every year
Ew, women
God damn she is fine
The oil all over Hill's car makes it look sm better
These 2 certainly agree!
Maybe even the guy in the back

1984 European GP - Brands Hatch Practice
...
0:22 Ayrton Senna [For Google Translation]
I saw him inside the car right after the crash happened,
with car debris scattered all around,
I saw his broken legs [ankles],
so it all affected me in the morning,
I couldn't push my car to the limits,
for the first time I saw something [in autoracing] that...
The description is really interesting
First he fell out with Cecotto, then De Angelis, then Prost
Senna indeed was a very hard teammate to get along with if you were trying to take his position
that was a flaw of his
however his falling out with de Angelis was more of Lotus' inability to have 2 #1 drivers and they wanted to keep Senna
Nice
When you sacrifice your championship by giving your own car to your teammate
Tony brooks?
Ll
wow thats a wide boi
Geez what year is that
1979, the car is Arrows A2
when suc effect so good u dont even need wings
Remember when Ferrari use a Special Livery on Monza 2001 Because Of 9/11?
Yup
They also ran an all black livery with no logos for the victims
That was testing for 98
Wait
No I’m right nvm lol
Wait no I’m wrong
And then Ferrari ran a black nose cone for one race in 2005 due to the death of Pope John Paul II iirc
- That’s a meme, and it should go in #memes-no-ai-will-delete-😡
- That car is from like 2004
- I have seen that video so many times
Lmaooo
It’s still a meme, and that looks like their 2004 car
Please stop
Maybe 03 but it doesn’t matter
K
ok mini mod

Taki Inoue: "It's true! I learn that in UK. When balls move, brain is fine. When big crash, scissors, take off the overalls, see the balls, hit the balls, then when balls move, this guy's fine. If balls don't move, then there's a problem with brain damage, I think...."

saw this live yeah
its an important life lesson
Ah this channel is better
Started the 1999 Season In Review video
The slow motion intro of schumacher losing his shit every five seconds is wonderful
Villeneuve’s car falling apart during testing sheeeeesh
Love seeing the marshal ride the crashed car as it goes up the crane 😂
But why does it look like that
They ran sponsorless and with a black nose cone as tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attacks
Other teams such as Jaguar ran a black engine cover as a sign of respect
Ah
yes
they went full with it
Mad
What’s going on with the colors?
Gone
His helmet is pink 💀
Why was the 2005 Mcalren so unreliable?
(longer answer the better)
I’m dumb asf
Why did they run all black here
Possibly they had no livery at the time or wanted it to be a secret…
Prost couldn’t been 8 time champ? Which seasons and why? I forgot
Prost would’ve won 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 1988, 1990, 1993 (i think) if the modern points system was used back then
In 2005 the new regulations stipulated that engines had to last 2 weekends, instead of 1 for 2004. This seems to've come quite late on as BMW had to revert to the P84 instead of the P85, and Mercedes V10 was a new 90° Unit and also McLaren's reliability post Beryllium wasn't like... Stellar regardless
I thought it was just 88
Thanks
Becuz a livery shows components? What do you mean
A livery is a special design and color scheme used on the vehicles, aircraft, or products of a particular company.
Not to his components
Down on power, had a gearbox issue but managed to drag it into the points after that pileup at the start and also due to the Toyota of Mika Salo spinning
hello there
tbh i myself started watching f1 properly after 2019 , so i don't have much to contribute here
That’s ok
dw i've started after DTS S1 and i'm legit an expert now
like i have been reading news and stuff since 2010 , hence why I am a seb fan but ye
oi
Lmao
I didn’t start watching f1 until 2020 we all start some where anyways
yeah man forgot he was at aston and not the 2020 ferrari
its quite ironic how in his Renault days it was his INCONSISTENCY that was his downfall then in his McLaren days it was his CONSISTENCY that was his downfall
Very ironic
mercedes couldnt make a reliable engine since 2002 and that continued for a year or 2 after 2005
keep my wife’s name out yo f***ckin MOUTH
After 2000 Mercedes engines started becoming more unreliable, the 2002 McLaren being a clear example as it was not too fast and barely reliable, the 2003 McLaren was a better balance of speed and reliability but it was still too unreliable and Kimi lost the title, 2004 was mostly just Kimi carrying the team claiming victory at Belgium as it was DC's last year at McLaren, 2005 was when JPM made his debut for McLaren and while the McLaren was definitely more reliable than 2004, it was mostly Kimi again who carried the team with 7 wins as JPM struggled with the car at times throughout the season, the new tire rules didn't help either was McLaren was caught a bit off guard but they were still relatively the fastest car since Kimi had 5 poles with JPM having 2, it was more of a combination of the unreliability and bad luck that caused McLaren's unreliable reputation.
Didn't Newey undersize the cooling in 2004
Especially with the Ferrari red, it can provide a good contrast to those that do take a photo to analyze it
that's why most teams, alfa Romeo especially, use a pattern if their car is shown after pre-season testing
What was the new tyre rules
So 2005 was a new engine? I thought it was the same for the 3 previous years
can't change tyres during the race
Wtf
How tf did Alonso 3 stop in Nurburgring then?
fuel
Damn
I thought that if Kimi boxed in Nurburgring he would’ve inherited p2 and tyre wouldn’t blow? How does this happen without a tyre change?
You could still pit for damaged tyre I think
yep you could do that
that's what James Allen said, and he was probably right
8pts vs no point
Which were Newey cars unreliable on a packaging side?
While true, the V10's from 1995 had used a 72°V, however 2005 used a 90° which would make an entire foundation go from optional to mandatory
Does engine angle make a difference to reliability?
Yes
vibrations i suppose?
72° for a V10 is the natural harmonic/balance angle, as 720°, or two rpm, is how much a 4 stroke engine eneds to complete
A 90°V angle has a firing interval of 90° then 18°
That's gonna give you some rock n roll
Why did they go to 90 then?
Ah
but ditched it in 2004 for a more traditional 72°
Centre of grvaity
And 90° for anything is the best rigidity wise
Renault had 111/112 from 2001-2003 which had one of my favourite buzzsaw off throttles I've ever heard
Enjoy Jarno arm wrestling this lap! :D
How does a wider engine cause more vibrations? I understand there’s a trade off between vibration, CoG and packaging.
What made the 90 degree engine faster? Other than CoG
it's not the fact it's wide that made more vibrations, it's just the angle x number of pistons
Yeah
Because the interval of pistons firing is now irregular, instead of evenly spaced, one side of the engine's power stroke lasts longer than the other
So you will have a rocking motion that isn't cancelled out
But more power? Or is CoG just the only advantage
Power is... In a way whatever if that vibration can be controlled
there was still refueling
the 2005 rules were largely the reason of why Ferrari was bad that season
the banned tyre changes mostly affected Bridgestone users
the biggest of which was Ferrari
mostly center of gravity, and usually depends on the chassis of the car
not sure
im not too knowledgeable in the technical side
Thanks @frozen prism
Jacque and Greg
is that greg moore
Yes
Villeneuve is 168
1.81 :(
199
Im 171 and not growing
No I'm a Jack Russell terrier
Anyone been to the Edinburgh museum and seen the old f1 cars?
Bruh im 17 and i havent grown since i was 15 and a half. Its not fair
Holy hell
Has Jos Verstapins Ford and the first red bull plus an 2006 simulation
Got any pics?
Shitty ones but it's just the red bull
Tyrrell and Matra had a joint venture together, as well as Matra putting their focus on Ken Tyrrell’s Matra International Team, as the works Matra team didn’t compete in 1969
So Ken just ran the team? Was he funded with Matra engineers or just started from the ground up in 1969
I’m guessing he was given some engineers from Matra
In 68 you have regular Matra with the V12 engine, and Matra International which js a private entry ran by Ken Tyrrell, same chassis but the DFV engine instead
In 69 Matra doesn't enter their team because they need to improve their engkne a lot, so the only entry, fully supported by the engineers is Tyrrell's.
For 1970 the engine is improved, and Matra says if Tyrrell wants to keep thr Matra chassis, which is very good, they must use the new V12. Stewart said it was bad and they should keep the DFV and so Tyrrell started his own team for good, first entering the new March chassis, and for the last 4-5 races their first in house chassis, the 001
Matra International was basically just Tyrrell
jackie won his first WDC for them in 69
Yeah, in a very dominant fashion
yeah, Lotus had a pretty rare meh season
not to mention Graham Hills crash at the US Grand Prix that took a lot of his pace
It was the last gp or so tbh
Lotus focused their development towards the 4wd type 63 I'm afraid, which was a dead end
Like in 71 with the Pratt and Whitney turbine powered car
luckily they bounced back with the lotus 72
but graham hill was out of lotus by 1970 the year it was introduced unfortunately
Ye, but like i said they lost lots of time in 71
for a short stint with brabham iirc
rob walker definitely the most popular and i think the best privateer team
lotus was lucky with the young prodigies they had
Emo and Jochen Rindt
they got Ickx too late unfortunately
when Lotus was in a stagnant period after Emo and before ground effect
Ye
woah these chains are cool
ive seen daily chains on f1 wdcs in forums but never the constructors champions or the wdc runnerups

Is that an Arrows?
Looks like a sea vixen
It's an arrows
I believe Gold Leaf was the first brand to get their sponsor on an F1 car
Correct, for the second race of 1968 iirc. Clark was already wearing their colours in F2 when he died
Track?
Wasn’t it John Love that did it first at the South African GP?
Team Gunston was a privateer team founded by Rhodesian racing driver John Love to enter his own cars in Formula One and sports car racing between 1962 and 1975. He also entered cars under his own name, i.e. John Love. Commonly the vehicles were entered for Love himself, but he also provided cars for a number of other drivers during the period.
...
“At the 1968 South African Grand Prix Team Gunston became the first Formula One team to implement sponsorship brands as a livery when they entered a private Brabham car.”
It was Team Gunston
alright fair
Lotus was the first team to use aerofoil wings, which were introduced at the 1968 Monaco Grand Prix.

Who’s in the pic
Gilles Villeneuve and Ronnie Peterson (Most likely)
I think that's the incident where at the 1977 Japanese GP, a couple of spectators died from a collision involving the two iirc
yes
Yup
what do you think of these two?
Yep
But both of the victims were on a restricted area
What do you think of some of these beautiful things
Piquet is the more overlooked Brazilian 3 times champ compared to Senna. He’s also a more… colorful character, too.
Yeah he's definitely overlooked
The man who gave Prost and Mansell a run for their money
well, he and roberto moreto has been the last brazilian one two
In addition to that, Aguri Suzuki's 3rd place made it the last podium to not feature a European driver
I never stopped to think about it hahaha
I'm Brazilian, I like both and also several others, like fittipaldi, pacce and gugelmin
yeah
I really like some Brazilian drivers outside of F1, such as Gil De Ferran, Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan, and Joao Paulo de Oliveira
gil de ferran is the driver with most wins in indy 500
Brazil always creating legends
But Castroneves has 4
As far as I know, he has the most wins
oh
De Ferran only won once
It's all good
yeah bro
I think the most wronged driver in F1 is Barrichello
your portuguese is good bro
hahaha
where are u from?
America
cool man
Vai Rubinho!
great man hahhaha
The days when the Flag Man was on the track
dude drove for every shit team imaginable
yeah, but he classified a fucking andrea moda in monaco
legend
ikr
2nd most shittiest car of all time and he qualified it on the most challenging circuit on the calendar
yeah
is 1nd the life car?
I'd imagine the Haas was an easy 3st
The prancing horse driven by the ABSOLUTE UNIT of drivers. The underrated Argentine himself Jose Froilan Gonzalez
Stirling moss
Can someone explain the title decider in 1958
there's nothing special about the title decider per se, the quirky bit of the season occurred at the 9th race, the Portugal GP
Hawthorn was initially disqualified for some infringement. and Moss felt this wasn't fair and argued with the race stewards and managed to get the sanction uplifted from his Ferrari title rival
It all snowballed to Moss losing this title by 1 point
Yeah
bro, the 1979 lotus is fast them life car lmaooooooooooooooooooo
sorry man hahaha i'm brazilian and my english its so bad lmaoooooooo
What lol
the lotus 1979 car its batter them life car
Yeah the 1979 lotus was better. It actually qualified fourth on the first season race
It’s Riccardo Patreses birthday today
One of the most experienced drivers from the 80s and 90s
He became the first Formula One driver to achieve 200 Grand Prix and 250 Grand Prix starts
Is this classic? New f1 fan here
That's Senna's super license renewal papers
That’s really nice is that yours?
Jean almost always places his hands on the top bit of the steering wheel. Even when those square steering wheels became common
This race retirement by Johnny Herbert looked normal. Aside from the fact that a spanner somehow jammed the brake pedal
Si
very nice
This and the way he tilts his head in the corners made his style quite unique to see
Hawthorn won the title by a point over Stirling Moss despite Hawthorn only getting 1 win throughout the season, the title would have inexplicably gone to Moss if he didn't stand up for Hawthorn when he was initially disqualified at the Portuguese GP for having his car in the opposite direction, but Moss defended Mike's actions and the disqualification was lifted and Hawthorn was granted back 6 points in a 2nd place finish, if Moss never did such actions he would have been the 1958 WDC
That jordan looks actually good ngl
The Sasol Jordans were cool looking
Yeah, except that barclay? Sponsorship (i can't really see, that brown and white on the sides) i think it made the car a bit ugly ngl
I can see where you’re going with that. If the side was blue, then it would have been better
What caused the Senna crash? Was it a car failure at the fault of poor engineering for safety?
Steering column broke, which caused the accident.
His death is due to a suspension wishbone going on his face at the impact
Ayrton with Sir Jack and Fangio
The drivers that had huge gearbox problems yet they still won the race or finished in the points
What race is the last one?
Last time Ferrari won in Imola

Love the T4
When was this
Wow 🤩
I like those comparisons compared to G.Villeneuve
Gilles Villeneuve famously completes a lap on three wheels.
Otherwise what a beautiful car the 312T4 is
it looks so weird
proportions don't exist
but it won the title
single handedly even
last time until 2002 that the Ferrari drivers did 1-2 in the WDC
Gilles Villeneuve was never a man to do things by half measures, something he demonstrated perfectly at his home race in 1981 when his Ferrari's front wing obscured his vision. Undeterred, the Canadian continued until the appendage simply fell off...

If not for the very Ill-fated years the Ferrari drivers had after 1980 I think it could have achieved what it has done that again from 1981 to 1983
82 🥺
they had to make it as narrow as possible with the Flat 12 if I remember correctly
"This is testimony to how strong modern Grand Prix cars are"
Well, that statement from Murray clearly didn't age well...
one of the best drivers Ferrari ever had, so fucking underrated
i've never seen him underrated
since when is gilles villeneuve underrated
like he’s quite low ranked amogst other Ferrari drivers
it may be me biased but I think he was better than many drivers in Ferrari such as Vettel, Prost, Ascari and Bandini
👍🏿
Yoo
"What's going on with Ralf Schumacher's car? It's up in the air!"
It layed an egg
quite funny, i was watching the 1980 review on F1TV and they reminded the fact that Ligier lost a fair few wins in the season
because their car has so much downforce, that the rims cracked under the load and they had punctures
Ligier used the Goodyear tyres that year right ?
yes only renault and ferrari had michelins
I think the failures happened could be also Brands Hatch regarding how much bumpy the track is ?
yeah could be, but both of the cars had the same issue
poopy rims and tyres
no, just too much downforce
basically too much load
I mean it's the only team using Goodyears suffering from the same issue
I think it was that one
Both cars retired from the lead due to the punctures
The 1931 Italian Grand Prix was a Grand Prix motor race held at Monza between 24 May 1931 and 28 May 1931. The race was the first of three Grands Prix that were part of the inaugural European Championship. The Alfa Romeo works team pairing of Giuseppe Campari and Tazio Nuvolari won the race, ahead of their teammates Ferdinando Minoia and Baconin...
Well that's one way to crash at Monaco
that's de Cesaris isn't it
I think it is xD
That’s Capelli
ah ye that's a Ferrari not a Dallara
classique
probably just with it being a long time ago now
only the greatest are remembered past like 20 years
Better than Bandini 100% sure
But Prost or Vettel…mate those are legit two of the most successful drivers ever
But I kinda agree he is underrated
And could have gotten a title or two easily if he hadn’t died on ‘82
young prost had glorious hair
Pironi could’ve won the 1982 title had he not been involved in that accident at Hockenheim
Bring back old Monza
10km track with a banked oval would be crazy ngl
yes but that’s with the premise that gilles died at zolder, now scrap that
do you really think pironi was faster than villeneuve?
No
Prost at Ferrari was a bit of a disappointment
same goes for Vettel
Gilles had a chance to win the title twice in my opinion the 2nd most competitive era in F1
with Piquet, Prost, Scheckter, Lauda, Rosberg, Watson, Depailler, Pironi, Tambay, Johansson, etc.
vettel was a great driver even in ferrari
except 2020
but he never really beaten the expectation they had
vettel always had a great season start as per 2017 and 2018 but one incident always threw him off completely from the championship
germany '18
and singapore 2017 arguably
Lol Schumacher had the weirdest crashes
which Schumacher?
Why did Forti use a V8 instead of a v10 or 12 in 96?
95 was a V8
Both Fords
Cheaper option?
Ah
Yeah, and its not like that they would be competitive in 1995 anyways, considering they had an underpowered engine AND a manual H pattern gearbox
As a matter of fact, the 95 Forti was the last F1 car to have a manual H pattern gearbox
Also ironically Forti had used a Ford Zetec R V8 in their 96 car, which went on the power the Mastercard Lola. And we all know what happened to that team
Theres just something about the BT60 thats so😩 plus Damon drove it so its instantly even cooler🥰
Looks odd with such a rounded nose
shame the new brabham went default so quickly, they had a very quick car in 1989 when they came back
What did Brabham do in their 20 something year break
one of the sons started a car company
Ah
They now have a hot BT62 so
Just love the fact that they used a bin lid of all things to cover the "cooling" fan when it wasn't active
I would be watching the race but I’m to busy being a boomer and playing F1 2013
Onyx Grand Prix is a former Formula One constructor from Britain that competed in the 1989 and 1990 Formula One seasons. The team participated in 26 World Championship Grands Prix (25 starts) and scored six World Constructors' Championship points. Its best result was third place, in the 1989 Portuguese Grand Prix, for Stefan Johansson.
Prost was definitely not the man to do PR stunts or do anything to put him into the spotlight, that is what makes him so different from Senna Schumi and Lewis, he is so good but because he usually keeps things to himself and isn't one of the more popular drivers that is why he is often undershadowed in the GOAT talks
even among the french people, he wasn’t overly popular
he was pretty hated in his renault days
for reasons i still dont understand
Well, he did have his fallout with the team in 1983, much to the anger of some Renault employees
yeah prost had to move to switzerland iirc
It said on his wiki page that his road cars were burned
of which those angry renault engineers went to his house and set one of his cars on fire
i wouldnt blame prost to be honest
that renault was an unreliable rocket
but its unreliablity overweighed its speed most times
And yet Piquet managed to beat him to the ‘83 title with a less superior car
yeah the brabham was the 3rd best team for 83 with Ferrari edging them out
but Ferrari just didnt have that star driver
except for arnoux really
he had a chance to win the title but retired at the last or 2nd last race
This may sound a bit farfetched, but I wonder how Jacques Laffite would do if he went to Ferrari while Patrick Tambay went to Williams for 1983?
the 83 ferrari was indeed better than that 83 Williams
but seeing as Laffite failed to qualify for 2 races i dont think he would have mounted a title fight
but better results at best maybe a win or two
Seems reasonable
and also Laffite was on his last legs seeing as he was nearing 40 or was 40 by 1983
but he had those last 2 great years back at ligier
1981 was his last hurrah
ligier was definitely touted as title fighters in 1980 and 1981
The JS11/15 was Ligier’s best car
yeah depailler was the title contender for 1979 iirc
and then he sat out the rest of it because of leg injuries
then died at 1980 driving with mclaren or alfa romeo
He died during a test with the Alfa team
What a shame.
him and gunnar nilsson were studs of the late 70s
both tragically died in their primes
same goes for ronnie
2 died in horrendous accidents, while Nilsson succumbed to cancer
nilssons was pretty sad
he was only in f1 for 2 seasons and was pretty good
only for it to end pretty quickly
To think he died weeks after Ronnie Peterson is a bit eerie
yeah this is a photo of the 2 of them in 78
and even more eerie seeing as peterson took gunnars lotus seat
Reading this while looking at the photo is both sad and very eerie
because they cheated and were covered by the fia
"Revenge is a dish best served cold"
The German and the Scotsman
Ford vs Ferrari F1 style
lol
I'll be going to the historic Dutch grand prix this July
There'll be lots of historic f1 cars and i can't wait
going to Le Mans classic in june, wonder if there will be f1 cars
just now remembering how Arrows got ran out of business by a Nigerian prince who’s sponsor didn’t pay money at all
heh
the fact they had to resort to this kind of shady funding already shows how close to the end they were
apparently Craig Pollock who had just been ousted from BAR made 2 offers to buy the team from Tom Walkinshaw, and Dietrich Mateschitz also did
oh wow
knew about Mateschitz, but didn't know that Pollock wanted to buy Arrows as well
if Mateschitz bought it we could've gotten Red Bull in F1 about 2 years earlier than they actually entered
wonder what would've become of Jaguar if that happened
i think Jaguar had more potential than Arrows tbf
true
Jaguar was a manufacturer team, whereas Arrows was a privateer lower midfield team that had been in F1 for 20 years and still hadn't managed to improve even slightly
adding to the fact Jaguar was owned by Ford meaning they had more funding and Good infrastructure to build over their operations
Instead they had all the funding but no actual time investment by Ford so they just crumbled
Tbe Stewarts left, Rahal left
And Lauda
anyone got some must-watch races from the past? i love watching past races being i only got into F1 in 2020
thanks! i'll add them to my list!
"Because I'm quicker than all of you!"
Fun fact: Juan Manuel Fangio was kidnapped on my birthday
I think Ford kept reducing the funding every year
tfw the most paid Ford employee is a british dude called Edmund Irvine and you’ve never heard of him
Lol
why tho?
it's a wild story that I recommend reading if you're interested in it
but the causes of this are political
Guess the driver
Wow. Correct
RIP Kuni-san
basically related to cuban revolution
fangio knew it wasnt personal
and so he just chilled there
he was upset not because he was kidnapped, but because he couldnt race
dead channel
😔
and
Kazuyoshi Hoshino
The man behind Impul
he was an absolute god in Japanese Formula 3000 iirc
F3000, Touring Cars, and Sportscar racing. What a driver
he drove against people like Ralf Schumacher, Mika Salo, Eddie Irvine and etc.
He was also one of the winners of the ‘92 24 hours of Daytona, alongside Masahiro Hasemi and Toshio Suzuki
i think also Heinz-Harald was in Formula 3000
yeah Hoshino was a legend
he was only in the 2 Japanese Grand Prix in the 70s
Quite a few Japanese drivers competed in the Japanese GP’s during the 70’s
yeah it was basically an exhibition race for them
iirc Hoshino was running high in the points in one of the races
he was using a Tyrrell
Him and Regazzoni in 76
Hoshino’s possibly my favorite Japanese racing driver
Can’t forget about him
ye the 76 one, he was 3rd or 2nd at some point
using an old 007 while the factory drivers were using the p34
Now that takes skill
Invite your parents/grandparents if they watched f1, they'll surely make this channel more vivid
i doubt they do
the only reason i got into f1 was because my dad just watches f1 sometimes
Does he have a favourite driver? Or he just watch it casually
his favorite driver is coincidentally alonso
but he rarely watches it
not since a few years back
Damn
Either the 312T4 or T5, but with the bodywork removed
Oh i see
probably testing sessions at Fiorano
1981 iirc
yeah all i know is that its spain
1980 Ferrari I think
OTD: 28 years ago, Roland Ratzenberger died in qualifying for the San Marino GP, he would have been 61 years old today.
The mentor and the student
💔
yeahs Rubens was indeed his protege
if Ayrton was alive Rubens and Bruno probably could’ve been even better
❤️
certainly, he had to stop racing
Why do the classic onboards cut out/static when going under a bridge
because there was no signal of barely any
Because they're working on an analogue signal
and i suppose there wasn't buffering of the signal, or not enough
basically you have the camera writing the signal on the tap, and then the tape goes to the transmitter which sends the signal, all of this in a loop
it's certainly a bit different, i forgot the explanation about why there's a huge glitch in the signal just before Senna hits the wall at Tamburello
Ok
This was recorded during the 2001 Australian Grand Prix weekend. The 3 cars are a 2000 model Williams-BMW f1 car (in 2001 livery) driven by Marc Gene, a Castrol Perkins Commodore V8 Supercar driven by Larry Perkins and a BMW 318i road car driven by Allan Moffat.
The F1 car weighs at minimum 600kg (with driver) and has about 760hp from a 3 litre ...

Senna’s death impacted even us in NASCAR.
i think 61 would have been von Trips
Dale even had a few words to say about it
I remember being at Talladega in 1994- same day- and when the news came over the entire circuit went silent for a moment
i mean i wasnt even alive in the 90s but I can imagine
A few people started crying
Because when you hear someone as perfect as he die, it shook everyone
Some people left the circuit after
I had pit access after the race and a lot of people were in a daze- in shock so to speak
NASCAR was never the same after he died
It was really fucking sad
RIP to Dale and Ayrton
Drivers were hugging their families after that race in NASCAR
It was a cruel reminder
one of firts safety car right?
I think so yes
ok hahaha
hmmm
When f1 hits another chronological milestone I think it’s such a cool idea if all the teams would have their liveries changed to either their very first livery or their most iconic
For example a modern day mclaren with a mp4 livery
Or RedBull with a jaguar livery or a 2010 livery
best safety car to date
I think Schumacher would’ve won the 94 season regardless
Why is Hill winning ‘64?
Today is officially May 1st (EST)
Very sad day for all of formula one and very depressing weekend
Ayrton Senna onboard with pure sound. Some cuts to Alain Prost onboard.
McLaren MP4/5 with Honda V10 Formula 1 engine at Suzuka Circuit
the sound is dope ash
also think theres no telling of who couldve really snatched title glory

What does ‘14°’ mean?
Oh
It means it was 14th San Marino GP
Didn't realise that much ppl retired
Oh
That is dark
Back then there was like 14 teams
Footage and commentator's reaction to Comas being allowed on track under red flag conditions. Footage shows his car race round Tamburello and near miss with medical crew.
Erik Comas withdrew from the race after seeing the site of Senna’s accident
and retired from f1
it's just the 90s, reliability was abysmal for everyone including top teams for the most part
he learnt about the news in the pits but couldn't believe it, so he got out of the pits during the red flag (obviously there were red lights at the pit exit so he knew he wasn't allowed to)
the only reason he finished the season was because his team boss Gérard Larrousse reminded him of his contractual obligations, but he really didn't want to race anymore
Ah
A terrifying moment for Erik Comas at Spa in 1992, until Ayrton Senna came to the rescue...

the state of the dude who knows Senna saved his life, and he gets there and there's nothing he can do
Were Williams quick in ‘95?
very quick ye
the 94 was probably illegal
the code for the traction control was on the chips, and personally i don't buy their story of "oh yes it was there, but it wasn't active"
they had good aero, the same engine as Williams (the Renault), and an excellent driver
The 94 car was confirmed by a now Sauber employee that they had some form of TC or Launch control
Renault could afford to dish out multiple units of the same spec
You have to remember Cosworth had many hands in many jars
Indycar 90s > F1 90s
I mean fair but I'm sure a harder cheat was kept championship wise than that
Kt was literally 28 years ago
Aguri Suzuki
Team?
Ligier
Frentzen, Schumi, and Damon (peep Alesi on the very left)
Rudolf Ratzenberger holding his son’s helmet at Imola 2021
and then you remember senna crashing into the concrete wall in 1994 and comas feeling terrible that there was nothing he could do
Did the 1993 Williams have active suspension
Yes
1992 and 1993 had active suspension
They first tested active suspension with the 1991 FW14 but never raced with it
i like this video, feels like the car is alive and breathing
Why did the Tyrell 012 have the weird boomerang wing on it?
It's scary that Gerhard Berger, a great friend to Ayrton Senna, had a high speed crash at Tamburello. Not to mention that his wrecked Ferrari burst into flames upon stopping
they tried to get more downforce from that, quite simply
it was allowed by the rules, and iirc it just didn’t work lol
Ah
Looks like an idle animation in a game
Lmaoooo yes
Trying to increase downforce by increasing surface area as a result of losing ground effect, however because all the air goes to point it kinda stalls in that centre point which doesn't help
Ah
more than Belgian GP 1960?
on that weekend also 2 drivers died
and both on the race
Sad as fuck moment
.
Not to many people knew that the Lotus 88 was in fact the first Formula One car with a carbon fibre monocoque chassis although the car was not allowed to race it.
Yes
ye it was
also it wasn't exactly a cfc monocoque
what i find says "a simple honeycomb Nomex sheet covered with a skin of kevlar"
Although likely better than its aluminium counterpart, the monocoque used entirely different techniques to Barnard's in its construction, favouring a Nomex honeycomb centre over the aluminium honeycomb used by McLaren. A wet lay up procedure that wasn't cured in an autoclave reduced the overall strength further still.
So yeah pretty much still had carbon fibre in it
Or should I say around it lol
The Bullet Nose
I like that era in 1996
this 95 car really wasn’t good idk why
Tony Brooks, the last surviving F1 race winner of the 50's, has sadly passed away.
When
today
Oh

“and then there were none.”
Rest In Peace, Tony Brooks.
R.I.P
Wow same
Ayrton Senna, Imola ‘94
Man when he Matches Senna 41 wins In Monza 2000 & when he cried that would be the greatest moment of his career
after all he did see that crash first
he was the one chasing down Senna in that fateful Imola race in 94
True yup
FAM IT WAS QUESTION RELATED
my favorite moment is his first race, previous driver punching a dude while drunk made schumi a fill in
Quite a haunting image. Even though it is edited
The old intro 😢
spa 1995
Fleetwood Mac
he got like 6 poles in a row
Q: If Senna hadn't crashed at Imola, who would have won the race?
he would unless schumacher beats him in the pits like in brasil
senna wouldn’t have the advantage in race until 2 or 3 racea after when they fixed the stability woes of the car
14 tittles in one picture
Crazy to think one guy has the same as senna and prost combined
changing times, Prost was the first driver to defend his title successfully since Jack Brabham in 1960. now its quite rare that you don’t
didnt help the 80s and early 90s were some of the most competitive times in f1
although Senna did quickly become the next driver to repeat in 1990-91
The 3.5's made things really accessible at least initially
Yamaha literally joined F1 and gave teams engines for free coz they thought it was the most cost effective R&D
My grandpa's favorite car, he'd drive this in a heartbeat. Hell he still go-karts with me.
Oh yeah the driver is Graham Hill
ah the lotus 49
took 2 world championships
gave jim clark his last win
and mr monaco his last title and monaco win
he won it twice with the 49 🙂
yeah those times when teams could just use the upgraded version of the same car
mclaren m23, ferrari 312 and 126C, lotus 49 and 72, etc.
yeah
Family traditions
Niki and the Old Man himself
My dad used to go with me but he got injured last time, so ive been going solo for a while
Do you race competitively
Nah just for fun
I'm gonna get my future child into competitive though
Grandpa got to see Jim Clark
lmaooo so am i
im 17, but gotta plan ahead
damnnn thats so cool
How old is he
76 I believe
Oh wow
He's been watching since 63
How old was he when he met Jim Clark
I don't remember lol
Yea
Ayyyy lewis 2nd
Wrong chat mate
