But at the time, he nearly didn’t race in 1993 due to him being vetoed by Prost, and that Senna also said he was going to compete on the condition of a pay per race basis iirc. So that meant Mika Hakkinen would take up his seat. Hakkinen finished 8th in the WDC in 1992, hence why it is on Senna’s car. But when Senna decided to race the entire season, he stuck with Hakkinen’s number on his car. Hakkinen would have to wait until after Monza to claim Andretti’s spot.
