I have fully gotten into the game this year. I have to play with a controller but I have found the PS5 controller to be a good middle ground now with the adaptive triggers. Anyways, I do full sim everything now and have gotten myself from a suggested 41 ai difficulty to now a 64 ai difficulty based on the site that has you put in your lap times and tells you what level the ai should be set at. It has worked well as I have been learning. I am now at a that break point where finding more time is going to be longer to train myself into than it has from 41 ai to 64 ai.

So it is at this point I have decided to do a Driver Career with my own character starting in F2 with full sim settings and full everything including 100% races. All goes well until I get to the sprint race on the first weekend. I fight my way up to first in the first 10 laps or so and then once I get there, in order to hold my position I absolutely MUST drive hard. Hard to the point that my suggested no pit strategy is in jeopardy. If I try to conserve my tires I get passed easily and if I pit I will be very far back, even last place. I have tried several times restarting the race trying different strategies to feel like I have even a fighting chance. I intend to play this full driver career with no restarts so that what happens, happens. If I wreck, I retire as you should. I even have rewinds turned off. I am only doing this at the start to calibrate my mind on how to play.

So given all that what do you guys think? Do I need to lower the AI a bit in order to make things more in line with me so that I lose and I win races. Or do I keep it where it is and get better with conserving my tires? I felt like I was doing all the right things for the tires including cool down laps and whatnot but those laps just see me losing my place no matter what and the AI seems to have no trouble with tires. I would say maybe I just need to better the car, but this is F2 and all the cars are the same.

i find the F2 AI in F1 25 too easy so I think you should practice tire preservation and run a save where you can restart or rewind

i think the best thing to do is to keep practicing defending more than anything else

if you can hold your position for a relatively long amount of time, and keep adding distance between the car behind you, you'll get good placings even if you pit

given that, i would still say to not pit at all unless you're already in a good position, because it's really hard to recover from the back of the grid

do it on 64 rather than 41, because since thats the level the website gave you, its what will give you a good challenge

Thanks for the reply. As it turns out the problem is only in F2. I made a new career, same settings but started in F1 just to check and I have no problem at all preserving my tires when needed. I am thinking they might have not put as much time into the how the F2 cars play with the new way the tires degrade in the game. I tried everything I could and I could not make the soft tires in F2 go the 23 laps needed, at least not without having a really slow pace. In F1 I have no problem at all hitting my targets for the pit window and much of the time I can push it out a bit further than the early choice of pitting. Certainly I could turn down the ai to get myself through there but I have just decided to stick with starting in F1 for the career. I learned that even starting in F2 you don't get offers from a team you still just pick who you want to drive for and that was the main reason I was thinking I wanted to start in F2. I just lose out on boosting my stats from driving in F2. I guess the only other reason to start with F2 is if you want to take a real world driver from F2 to F1 because you can pick someone like Isack Hadjar and play his career from F2 into F1 and become Max Verstappen's teammate in F1, which does sound like a cool playthrough.

I stopped racing online years ago because there is no realism in the racing at all. The only way an Online mode would ever work for me is if you could only enter online races with your car after having earned it and if your car gets trashed or if you race dirty you not only get banned but also have to play single player stuff until you earn the right to get back into the online version. Meaning if you wreck you need to earn in game money to buy another online car before you can race online again. And not money you can bank for a rainy day. Money you need to earn after having lost the car. And if you get rules violations that becomes doubly expensive.

The only reason that kind of system really isn't a thing yet is because the ai is not sophisticated enough to properly flag people. I mean, you still get warnings for collisions with people when you haven't even moved on your racing line and are at racing speeds and someone tries to divebomb a corner and rams into you.

Prior to Spain, Ferrari were in incredibly poor shape, and that doesn't particularly change yet here, with poor race pace from Albon and a mechanical failure for Sainz who was running in the points, but it was an enthralling battle between Manz, Leclerc and Norris in the dying stages, that culminated in Manz falling to 3rd on the main straight onto the last lap, but somehow threading the needle to get back into P1 as Leclerc and Norris squabbled, it was three wide into T1 and Manz came out ahead.

Great comeback for Max as well throughout that one while Piastri took a grid drop and had to come through similarly but couldn't as he started on the hard tyre

Albon would once again continue to show in Canada that Ferrari do have qualifying pace.. though maybe not in the hands of Sainz, as Manz takes pole for the first time since Jeddah.

The race in Canada in my save would be interesting as Manz dominated in the early stages, until Sargeant had an engine failure on lap 6, but in trying to find a place to park almost loses the car and hits Magnussen, taking him out at turn 9, causing a red flag.

Shockingly, Manz restarts on (apparently) the same hard tyre, and is forced back into making a pit stop during the race. She continues to lead and open a gap until her pit lap on lap 11, as she drops back to last place. She then quickly catches the pack and spends the next two laps trying to overtake the Audi of Pourchaire (finalising the move at the hairpin on lap 13) and is about to take Stroll onto lap 14, but Drugovich spins at the final corner causing a SC.

Restarts again on lap 17 and Manz immediately makes a solid move forward, getting Stroll at turn 1 and then a double on Doohan and Sainz at the hairpin. That trend continues as she scythes through the field including a great overtake on lap 21 at turn 1 on Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc to get up solidly into the top 10. By the end, Piastri wins from Hauger and Albon, as Manz gets Gasly on lap 25, the final lap, for P5.

Qualifying in Austria sees Manz finding the dominant form she had in this sort of stretch of 2028, grabbing pole and commanding every session in the process. But there were upsets. Piastri, who was now P3 in the title only behind the Mercedes drivers, went out in Q1, and Verstappen who was 4th went out in Q2.

Sprint was quite straightforward, really, but Russell and Lawson got poor starts and couldn't really recover. Manz and Leclerc battle just like they did in 2028, but the result is the same with them. Sainz finds solid form at last for Ferrari, looking to close the gap to Williams for 6th in the constructors' title, and improve his own position, which was 19th in the WDC going into the weekend.

Incredible battles between Manz, Leclerc and Sainz happen in the GP, as it started completely dry. Towards the end of the stint, Hauger and Gasly get into the fight, with Hauger getting up into 3rd by the time the leaders make their stops on lap 12 onto 13. The order shakes out after the pit stops with Verstappen ahead of Gasly in 5th place, but Hauger spins from P3 at turn 3 on lap 14, causing a red flag, and a bottleneck that took Gasly out.

The restart was wet. Hauger gets a difficult start but Sainz gets P2 properly and along with Manz stretches away from Leclerc, but Pourchaire also got into the top 5, and managed to stay there.

Nothing else really happens apart from Magnussen retiring with an engine failure on lap 19, bringing out the VSC.

But Sainz scores huge points for Ferrari.

If you go on the internet and search f1 difficulty calculator you just need to plug in your best quali lap for each track and gives you your difficulty for each track

In a mercedes, I've noticed a trend of norris DNF'ing due to turbo failures
