Because while, no, there ain’t no rule that says women can’t drive in Formula One, F2, F3, etc, in reality, societal structures are in place which make it if not functionally impossible, at least much more difficult than it is for men.

So the W Series exists to give more opportunities to women to display their talents

And it functions as representation. Seeing someone like Jamie Chadwick winning on TV, might be (in fact, probably is) the first time most young girls will have seen a woman winning as a race car driver. It makes it more likely they’ll consider it as an actual career path. If you never see anyone like you in a job, you tend to write it off as “not for me”, so representation is important for increasing the number of girls and young women who come through the feeder system, and not just as drivers, but in all aspects of the industry, and as fans as well.
