its a bit much at first, but over time you get use to it.
The ones I usually tend to remember that are important are Pole, laps led, most laps led, top 3 finish, and you get 5 points just for finishing the race.
Which is why sometimes you see guys who were maybee out on lap 1 rejoin the race later on, instead of DNFing

Someone did the math and for Newgarden to win he would have to of course start (5pts), win (50pts), get pole (1pt), lap led (1pt), most laps led (2pts)
Palou would have to DNF or finish plumb last with no laps led or anything. He still gets 5pts, for just starting.
Pato would probably have to do the same but could still pick up a few points without hurting Newgarden in this scenario.
And so, Newgarden would clinch the title, with a miraculous 1 point victory over Palou - 523pts Vs 522 pts
So basically, mathematically possible, but not realistically possible

Frankly, no
There can be some big crashes there but the same goes for a lot of UK race tracks
There a lot more dodgy corners and circuits than what you might get at brands
I think it's a combination of bad luck and focus being put on the track
How many people do you see talking about the citroen driver who died at Snetterton or the mx5 that went into a lake at cadwell ?

snetterton- 2021 fatality and car clearing the fence
cadwell- car clearing the fence and ending up in a lake
silverstone- single seater crash resulting in a driver losing their legs
thruxton- fatal GT crash and car clearing the fence
donington- single seater crash resulting in double amputation
castle combe- marshals struck by barrier after crash
oulton- people have ended up on/over the barrier multiple times this year
