That\s an air restrictor, however by increasing the volume of the air intake plenum, you increase the volume allowed to the cylinders, have it diffuse alot more evenly, and increase the amount of air that the restrictor need to pull in to get the most amount of it

Similar to how CART Engine intakes started to suspiciously get larger after 1994, especially in the case of the Menards v6's

Why have what's essentially 2L of available air volume compressed at 1,355mbar, when you could have 4.5L of available air volume compressed at that same level?
