Okay so essentially there's this stuff that you can put on a track which increases the grip, theoretically. So to try and increase racing in NASCAR at Texas, they put that black stuff on the high lanes. So that cars could theoretically go fast on the top lane and increase overtaking. But it didn't work. Especially in IndyCar, where the grippy surface caused cars to essentially become not controllable anymore and you would almost guaranteed be sucked into the wall, making Texas a max 2 lane track.

So I just saw this. I understand Hamilton and his Father worked hard to make a racing career for him. And he experienced some hardship as being the one black driver. But I don't get how that shadows over the many figures he's earned the respect in the sport and all over the world. And I think that first thing he said is very projective.

If anything, he's living proof a great driver can come from the lowest of the lows but also a reminder that success in the sport requires hard work no matter where you come from.
