It not only put an immediate cap on teams but created supply issues from Ligier and whatnot
They had alot of interest initially...
Fuck
I love the Prius
Better
That’s the weirdest-looking Prius I’ve ever seen. Also, the sportiest.
I like the McLaren headlights more personally with the smaller grill
Personally, I prefer the 2018 Prius over the 2020
But since the 2020 Prius uses a Lexus V8 with Hybrids and is now a FR car, I love it
I think the prius gets too much crap
Wait really?
Yeah... JAF changed the rules in 2019 and outlawed the mid-engine layout in correlation with the Mother Chassis groups, then they switched from Toyota LMP2 V8's to the RCF GT3 V8 with Hybrids
Oh no it's nothing like the road car
It's a complete silhouette, basically shares nothing with the road car, and has a 5.4L V8 with a Capacitor Hybrid to make still a combined power level equivalent to GT3, but obviously a tad more restriction on the engine

Corvette enters Spa, hints at increased WEC involvement
Chevrolet will field a solo GTE Pro class Corvette C8.R at Spa on May 1 for Oliver Gavin and Antonio Garcia as part of its preparations for a return to the Le Mans 24 Hours this year, having previously entered the same duo for the Algarve round now postponed until June.
At the same time as announcing the Spa campaign, Chevrolet stated that "future racing opportunities [are] under consideration ...Keep reading

is he not the rider who broke his arm
yes
he's the multiple world champion
and quite young too
Can MotoGP fans explain to me how the hell is Marc winning in a bike that others can barely get a grip around?
I don't follow the sport, but I've asked others who do and the usual reply is "Marc is a beast" and it feels like its a convenient answer and not an explanation.
Maybe it is the same case that Lewis Hamilton has
He outscored his teammate in his rookie year (As well as the rest of his career) and then continued to dominate the sport although Hamilton had started his wave of dominance 7 years after he won his first title
it's more than likely to do with his riding style
the bike has to be incredibly mandhandled all over the place
that is why you see marc leaning so much
Let's be real here, Hamilton did not decimate Alonso like Marc is doing to two champions he's had beside him. Alonso despite having a shit year had the same number of wins, podiums and points. Yes, it was Hamilton's rookie year but it's not to to the extent of Marc beating Pedrosa and Lorenzo, who are both highly regarded. I mean look at the 2018 and 2019 standings, if that happened in F1, the other driver would be the laughing stock of the paddock.
2019 is much better as an estimate
he crushed it
that is him in his element
i don't really know enough to understand why others struggle on it but the honda has an agressive engine, short wheelbase and is low
it is clearly something only marc can get over
truly to be dominant that is
Is riding style something that is difficult to adapt to on bikes?
We see shit cars in F1 and drivers adapting to it but it looks like in MotoGP and bikes in general it's much harder to do so.
well i can think of one example
although it is a bit lackluster
because the guy was carrying injury
but jorge had switched from yamaha to ducati and then honda
and bam he was pretty crap on it
Remember Rossi's Ducati stint?
wasn't a very good bike tbf
yeah rossi's ducati was shite
he rides the bike like no other can, simple as that. he pushes the limit to the point that he himself doesn't know when he'll crash. honda also doesnt hear feedback from other riders so it has become a really unstable bike as such
So it's essentially Marc's team even though it says Respsol-Honda on the bike.
yea
gotcha thnx
Lcr is the customer team?
in theory it is a customer team, but these last few years manufacturers have provided a lot of support
this year all 4 hondas are factory spec
ah
yamaha this year is 3 factory spec and a customer
marc i think can cope with the loss of the front tyre as well compared to jorge who had much of his success with precise lines on a bike that was long and tall
it is excellent what he can do
but i think some parts of it are created by the bike
not him
he's said this before
Bike or not, he is Marc Marquez in the end.
lorenzo has a smooth riding style, which didn't correlate to the honda and ducati
Stupid question probably since I don't watch moto, is Prime Marquez better than Prime Rossi
100%
i think so
unquestionably
the field was nowhere close to rossi during 2001-2005
2006 he was faced with yamaha problems, 2007 ducati just were the better team, and then the new blood started to come around 2008-2010
no doubt but to me as soon as the big 4 came about he was starting to get challenged quite comfortably
stoner, him, pedrosa and jorge
the field is very good now but marc is on another planet
people like to say that last year was very inconsistent which it was but i put that down to the bikes being much closer, the riders all being very good and the nature of the season
i think quartararo equalled marquez in 2019
or rather
shown that he could equal him
Damn, wait another question, is the rossi domination similar to the mercedes domination then?
even though that was at times very inconsistent
kinda?
except rossi dominated in two different bikes
absolutely ob.literated everyone in the honda
Honda and Yamaha?
and brought yamaha to old success
i don't think it can be compared to f1
the closest seasons to mercedes domination are like 2009 and 2010
i think his 05, 08, 09 championships were all on very good bikes
04 moderately
but he was defo getting the most on those occasions
although as we've already said the field wasn't that great
thanks Lyla and Wiggy
i mean you had gibernau trying to beat him a guy who had won 1 race previous to 03
So those years you mentioned with Valentino in F1 terms was more like having a Mercedes equipment in a weak grid, like the late 1990's.
noice
Oh yes
Eh... I think the Gauloises bike looks more like the Prost AP01
Secondly, didn't those bikes come after the cars?
I assume the bikes were from 1998-2001
the sponsors have colors they like to use for liveries
BWT for example uses pink
across the motorsports it is in
title sponsors**
camel made a new branding identity specifically for motogp
hence the prominence of the blue circles
it was also seen in the sponsor boards around some tracks like catalunya, brno and motegi
Marc Marquez is alien, he fucking pushed the Honda into its limits where Honda even got exposed last year that they haven't updated the chassis since
well they have updated it during last year and into this pre season testing
even brought new fairings and shit
the lack of marquez hit them so they started listening to the rest of the honda riders
taka and alex are reaching the potential on the honda
pol has got to grips with it REALLY fast, super impressive considering he's only ridden the yamaha and the ktm prior
bradl still somewhat injured so :/

Meet the Alpine Elf Matmut Endurance Team for 2021, and the Alpine A480.
Our new race car will proudly bear the colours of Alpine in Hypercar, the new top-tier category in the FIA World Endurance Championship. #A480Launch

Alpine reveals LMP1 contender for step up to WEC's top class
The Gibson-powered Alpine A480 will go up against a new breed of Hypercar contenders run by Toyota and Glickenhaus in the six-round WEC season, which will get underway at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in May.
The A480 is essentially a rebadged version of the Oreca-built Rebellion R-13 fielded by the Swiss watch maker until its exit from motorsport at the end of 2020, but Alpine intends to ...Keep reading
Just to profit
Even ByKolles is said to be making Road and track versions of the PMC
"On 5 December 2018, the FIA published the technical rulebook for the class, with the regulations mandating production-based powertrains. It was also decided that a minimum of 25 road cars fitted with the combustion engine and energy recovery system (ERS) of the race car would have to be produced by the end of a manufacturer's first season, with that amount rising to 100 by the end of its second season. This would mean that non-OEM racecar constructors, such as Oreca, Onroak Automotive, and Dallara, would not be permitted to build hypercars, while the previously proposed "off-the-shelf" hybrid solution was absent from the regulations."
Basically, the man's comment is wrong
Alpine was only given the chance to enter a grandfathered LMP1 because ACO and FIA knows it takes time to build a new car, especially for teams suddenly joining a year late after Hypercar regulations was released to the public
Wouldve been cool to see Aston joining
Stroll had to do it, they shut down every GT program they had, everything's now gonna be a Customer service
why the Bykolles road going variant gonna have a hybrid but not the race version
Privateers still not allowed to have a hybrid system iirc
Hence why both Glick and ByKolles are N/A
This is just stupid tbh, I know they had to do this for private teams to reduce cost but not letting them have a hybrid system is bs
This is one other reason why LMP1 died
And Toyota kept dominating since both Porker and Tractor left respectively in 2017 and 2016
Less manufacturer interest
LMH is helping regain manufacturer interest but declined the amount of Privateers
Ginetta with United Autosport and now Rebellion died in LMP1
Would be interesting to see what those two can do, considering the fact that Ginetta also produces road cars
for just several million bucks you can buy one to be the 3rd car in Le Mans and then have it switched to be roadlegal afterwards
so like... if someone's rich enough for that, why not profit from that
Imagine if Bykolles or SCG pulled a Dauer
to be honest, ginetta never had a proper chance with manor
and rebellion were already on their way out regardless of the rule changes
focusing on new ventures
Isn't that what SCG is already doing?
RIP.

Dromo, the circuit design company behind the proposed 2023 MotoGP venue in Hungary, has released a video. Intriguingly the Magyar Nemzetközi Motodrome will also be homologated to @FIA F1 standard: https://t.co/m3QVRr6Jki
Calling NASCAR unpopular is like calling F1 unpopular... I guess if you're in certain areas it might
I wish this became like... A full send car
that's like a mix of Bahrain and Red Bull Ring
seriously though that looks like a very spectator-friendly track and I like it. Most of it should be viewable from the grandstands and the hills.
That elevation
Oh wait
That first turn I thought was a hill, when it turns away first
Looks like a mix between Zandvoort, Magny-Cours, and Shanghai.
Basically Hungaroring but more artificial
Because Hungaroring also has that
Hungaroring is in a natural bowl, meaning that you can see most of the track from the outer hills
appearantly it's another track in Hungary, and it's supposed to host the MotoGP from 2023 onwards
...that's what we are talking about yes
We know that
ah
didn't saw the tweet
only saw the picture, my bad
but the track does look extremely promising and exciting
I have slightly mixed feelings about this circuit...
I doubt it will host F1 but
If Hungaroring ever drops
They could pick it up
Why?
I mean I think Stefano said he would be interested in rotating circuits?
Because they are working on a way to have both Hockenheim and Nurburgring back on the calendar
Actually that's a pretty interesting one
Which I would assume would be an every other year thing
Rotating Hungaroring and this one for the Hungarian GP would be interesting
So Hockenheim - Nurburgring - Hockenheim - Nurburgring - Hockenheim - Nurburgring etc etc
And do the same for this yeah
Kinda like they wanted to do for Fuji and Suzuka before Toyota dropped out
I dunno. There is just something about the layout that just makes me doubt its credibility or something..... Eh, it's probably because I don't really like the look of it.
It's a MotoGP track which always look a bit weird when your thinking in terms of car racing
Mandalika for example doesn't look great for cars, but for bikes, it looks quite good
True. Some circuits work best for bikes, such as Qatar.
Even then Losail is probably... One of the weaker MotoGP tracks
Weaker?
How so?
Is Qatar like the Catalunya of MotoGP or something? (even though catalunya is used for the catalan gp)
Idk I just hear that a lot
bruh ok
I find it funny how they literally have 4 fucking MotoGP races in Spain

wec probably
probably WEC or IMSA
omg i knew it
basically endurance racing
since they do brakes
Driver swaps
but thats down to the fact they do a lot of more substantial adjustments
and driver changes ofc
ye
yeah
F1
indycar
nascar
imsa/wec
in terms of pitstop speed*
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwjsnUKVztk here's a wec pitstop

Audi R18 Pit Stop
2014 WEC 6hours of Fuji
i have mad respect for nascar pit crews
formula e during the gen 1 era 😎
Formula E during Gen 1 era was great
fe is oversized go karting
i mean
yeah e formula triggered me when i saw their pitstop changing drivers so boring and so slow
long beach isnt exclusive to fe
and theres the existence of macau
you could say GT3 is big gokarting then
the cars are bigger and heavier
GT3? Go Karting? Please.
gt3 is not go karting
dude im just refuting his point
new jeddah street circuit looks like punta del este
I mean
man punta was a good track
for where they primarily race at
they are big and heavy
gt3 goes to actual race tracks
that includes the nurburgring
oh cool never knew that fe goes to monaco on odd years
GT3 via imsa does it at long beach
sure, some of these tracks arent in comparison to the minute lap time street circuits of FE
brake changes are not common nowadays
you only see them in 24H races as part of a mandatory safety change
also the slowest pitstop is either GTWC or WEC
since they can only use a single wheelgun there
IMSA allows 2
oooh that DPi (?) looks cool as hell
DPi yes
biiiiiiig if true

We are pleased to show our new design to host MotoGP in Hungary, from 2023, the Magyar Nemzetközi Motodrome.
The track is designed to be over 5 Km in lengths, to be homologated by #FIM and #FIA to #MotoGP and #F1 level with the typical flowing nature that characterise our designs.
The design team, led by Dromo, is counting on renown #Gb...
Actual hills in the track which is crazy considering the general area it will be built at
oh yeah, scuttle unironically (or ironically) loves Abu Dhabi
Subject to change
i like the altitude changes
specially on the last turns
buuut. i dont see this materialising
there was another proposal for a track in hungary that went down the drain for fraud, then there was the circuit of wales which LOL never began construction, then there's mandalika which hasn't been completed yet
:newspaper: | Oyu tops opening day of Fuji Super Formula test
This one has bigger support than the one in western Hungary
Also the design is final, cus officials are posting this so possibly gonna be built like that
Just vibing with your friend because... it's #QatarGP week! 🎉

:newspaper: | Yamamoto puzzled by lacklustre test form after team switch
theyre both better off with their current drives instead of hoping to drive the crapbox that is Haas
cool
I'll still watch GTM instead doe
and on the topic of GT3
good livery
:newspaper: | AJ Foyt Racing reveals ROKiT as Bourdais’ primary sponsor
WOW that looks sick
What in the name of
it's a livery ™️
The livery just reminds me of this
redbull sure loves their carbon liveries
Lol
Ok that ROKiT is
Something
I'm not a big fan
The giant ROKiT is barely readable and doesn't work well
And except that it's a bit bland ish
god damn that is sick
Looks bad
yea
why should you read it from the side when there's onboard cams :3
and no fans in attendance :3
sex
This indycars looks soooooooo ugly oh my
Well, without the Aeroscreen, it used to look much better
Yeah, that's for sure
Maybe they can come up with a car design that suits the aeroscreen better
just use png then 🤷🏽♂️

quite the lineup
tfw when sainz is the same age as nyck
that is stunning
Are they mercedes factory related in any way? That is literally the 2019 merc f1
can't recall if SPS is one of Mercs totally not factory teams ™️
Prodrive?
Yes
Can we get fucking Reiter Engineering to build another one off GT3 car again?
I miss the likes of the Camaro GT3 and their Gallardo R-EX
And even Emil Frey Racing XKR-S
Man, FIA and ACO needs to man up and let one-off GT3 car back in the grid.... the likes of the Marc VDS Mustang, both Reiter Engineering cars and the Emil Frey Jaguar were the greatest GT3 cars
The 24 Heures Motos (often called in English the 24 Hours of Le Mans motorcycle race) is a motorcycle endurance race held annually since 1978 on the Bugatti Circuit, Le Mans, Sarthe, France. The race is organized by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) and is part of the Endurance FIM World Championship.
Moto Lmans must be scary
In cars if you are tired at least you can sit down
In motorcycles if you are tired you fall of the bike and die
That's why the Isle of Man TT is considered the deadliest motor race in the world.. Putting the Indy 500, Daytona 500, Bathurst 1000, Le Mans, and Spa to shame
Yea I can see that happening
Especially the force you receive on a bike is much more than what you receive in a car
And if you’re on a bike you gotta keep moving your body to get through corners
What about Hillclimb Racing and Rallying?
How do they compare?
Those are deadly too, more so spectators, but compared to Daytona or Indy so much much
Hillclimb Racing is criminally underrated imo (even though pikes peak exists)
Pikes peak lmaoooo the dangerous side of motorsport
No rules, as long as you have a roll cage and a car you’re good to go
👍
Is group B rally or Pikes peak more dangerous actually
Group B by far
But, if you think about it, both have similar levels of danger to them
You could crash and kill spectators in Gr. B, while also having the probability that you would plunder to your demise if you fell off the Pikes Peak hillclimb
In the end, you would need a lot of balls to do either one.
Oh, Pikes Peak also does motorbikes, too.
*did (Motorbikes were no longer allowed to compete after the death of rider, Carlin Dunne in 2019.)
:newspaper: | Schmidt, Arrow still inspiring with latest SAM Corvette
not really
they're in complete different layouts
24h cars runs around the full le mans track
24h motos runs around the inner circuit called bugatti circuit
we've already seen how deadly long straights are in bike racing at the old hockenheim
:newspaper: | Fukuzumi fastest as Super Formula testing concludes
the ACO has no control over GT3
it's FIA and Ratels SRO
and one off GT3s go against the concept of GT3
No they don't....
yes they do
it's a class based on customer racing
people building one offs doesnt fit into that
and GM made that concept impossible anyways with the Caddy GT3
they refused to sell it to anyone because they just wanted to run it in PWC
and Ratel changed the rules so 20 cars must be made in 2 years
vroom vroom
kindergarten is a bit below chief
oh thanks I was lost
that one there was a violation
Still a great one off
It's still a great one off
Same vibe
They do tho...
It's real totally not factory team ™️ hours

DTM program got scrapped for GTWC
good choice
SP9?
Seriously, I don't mind the DTM GT3 thing but they diluted the series with it
ADAC GT Masters exists
ADAC GT the 2nd
GT3
other than you explaining your IQ point actually made it somewhat logical
popularity doesnt determine its rank
and technically calling it GT1 would be dumb
since its a class based on customer racing
Well no, coz GT2 is now back
coz moment
just because GT2 is back
that doesnt change anything for my point
