I wish there was no more stages, I probably feel this way cause there wasn’t any stages when I was a kid but I don’t like how stages make the races feel like they have no strategy

The reason they only ditched them at road courses is because of two factors, firstly, the length and complexity of the tracks makes the cautions last forever, which made the races very dull to watch, and because the leaders of the race had to give up stage points in order to win the race

None of those things are true, or at least, as true at any other kind of track

There's no less strategy in NASCAR since 2017, it's just different.

And like, yeah, we cut down the number of fuel mileage races, but a) fans complained about those and b) what we gained was much more consistently competitive fields, with more ability to overcome adversity, which personally is one of the things I love about NASCAR

And field is more competitive

the lengths of the laps at road courses also means it's much harder to get lapped, and so having guaranteed cautions that teams can count on for getting laps back is much less important there anyway

Ideally I'd love to see it remain as it is, we get a little bit of everything, but NASCAR has a history of going a little overboard with changes

But they hardly ever mention the skill it takes to go rally racing

On lap 157, Ware was involved in a wreck with Matt DiBenedetto and A. J. Allmendinger; after the race, Ware and DiBenedetto argued on Twitter over responsibility for the wreck. When DiBenedetto faulted Ware for the incident, the latter replied by falsely accusing him of infidelity, causing a firestorm that led to Ware deleting his social media for the rest of the season and up through 2018.

Ware later revealed in a January 2019 interview that the incident with DiBenedetto was one of his "biggest setbacks ever," but acknowledged "hitting rock bottom (after that) was the best thing that happened to me because that really gave me the wake-up call of 'hey, this is only going to get worse, and you're never going to come back from it unless you do something about it right now.'
