Holy fuck those two races are insane
And so ends the story of the World Touring Cars
A series spanning 17 years, finally coming to a close.
of all the drama, of all the glory, the final championship can only be won by one
it's going Spanish, Azcona is the final champion of the world!
It's also going Korean, as Hyundai is the final team's champion of the world!
Although the era of the world touring cars has come to a close, we cannot forget about its electric counterparts
yeah
and also the future of electric GT
GT3 but electric
allowing either converted GT3 cars or proprietary designs
and the Scandanavian Touring Car Championship, another EV touring car series to look out for
ETCR
The Aussie Red Bull number 1 car
Swedish*
You are wrong sheeple
Swedish Touring Car Championship started in 1996
Then merged in 2010 with Danish Touring Car Championship
So now it's Scandinavian
And then from next year we will have Scandinavian TCR with focus in Sweden, Danish TCR and Finnish TCR racing
and STCC
all 4 are different championship
TCR Scandinavia was actually created in 2017
merged with STCC in 2019
and now split again
its a bit confusing
How to Motorsport in Scandinavia
I see
So what happens now with touring cars? Will they have another series or smthinf
there will probably be another world championships with TCR cars
local series will still exist
Is there a United States touring car championship
No but TCR cars race in Michelin Pilot Challenge
Tom Coronel lmao
190 races
6 wins

How Cadillac put its stamp on the LMDh concept
Cadillac will be competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year against so many high-level brands, Porsche, Ferrari, Peugeot and others. The exciting thing for me in the new era of sportscar racing is that the fans will be watching huge grids that aren’t made up of cookie-cutter cars. Why can’t we see the valkyrie, Bugatti, DeTomaso and Koenigsegg in LMH?
All they need to do is reduce power and increase weight
valkyrie 🥵
cost
and lack of intrest
But there’s a budget cap?
koenigsegg literally do not have enough manpower for a racing team
The De Tomaso marque might be set for a return to international motorsport for the first time in over a quarter of a century. Instagram blogger Daniel Weber has sniffed out a story for his lemanshypercarnews page with very significant direct input from the reborn supercar maker that suggests a road car-based LMH HyperCar is
Yeah, but I’m sure it won’t be that difficult for Aston or Bugatti, with their backing.
Thanks
Yeah but Aston is the reason the rules are like they currently are
but then the fuckers pulled out
lol
because cunt lawrence stroll decided to make rebrand
he also cancelled the GTE Pro effort
Foolish man
V12 would still be a disadvantage? Even with the hybrid regs over 140kph
Smth like that
This car is just a bit too stretched lengthwise, idk why
does stroll have any wheel knowledge
No
It would probably sound as good as the Valkyrie
woah
definitely doesn't look as good as the valkyrie
Wait what was the consequence of the reg changes in LMH?
But the valkyrie is naturally aspirated, I don’t see much bargaining for Aston here.
Are there any naturally aspirated Hypercars to join?
Ah yes... Reduce a 1,600bhp engine to 600
lmfao
That won't bring up any issues
Aston wanted power levels raised before they bailed coz LMDh would've killed their customer base
To like... 765
Caused the car to be far far heavier
Thanks Aston

So DTM will most likely become an ADAC series, even though ADAC already has their own GT3 championship
At this point, Berger might as well propose a merger between DTM and the ADAC GT Masters
Make DTM use GTLMs only
IMSA machinery in DTM sounds kinda weird, but at the same time I'm kinda onboard with it, especially the fact that the BIG M8 or at least the M6 would be back on track racing. In addition, I slightly object to the Ford and Chevy GTLM's being used, but Ford entered the Mustang in DTM back in the 1990s, so...
That looks better then i would’ve imagined

Of course it's a porsche
I honestly think that might happen
DTM does have a far better brand so
ADAC DTM

Kubica talking to Hypercar teams for 2023, 2024 WEC seasons
Kubica made the switch from single-seaters following the end of his comeback season in Formula 1 in 2019, initially spending a year in the DTM before moving on to endurance racing.
The Polish driver has found a fair bit of success in the LMP2 class since then, winning the European Le Mans Series title at first attempt in 2021 with WRT and nearly adding a prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours victory to ...Keep reading

Hey, at least be happy the WEC has a wide selection of entrants, rather than just Toyota, Glickenhaus, and Alpine
Don’t forget Lawrence Stroll
That's what i mean
Would a naturally aspirated car even be competitive though?
Even with all the hybrid restrictions
Back in the LMP1 days, N/A cars were able to be competitive, with Toyota winning the 2014 WEC title. They ran a N/A V8 Hybrid
But as for this year, Alpine used an N/A engine and were able to challenge Toyota. However, Alpine won’t be competing in the LMH class in 2023
In addition, considering how Porsche is Porsche, plus them also being N/A, I think they would take the fight to Ferrari and Toyota
Porsche does have the hybrid stuff
You can enter a road car
Porsche’s turbocharged
The only na car is the Cadillac
i'll enter a 2016 ford fusion

Toyota didn't test WEC Hypercar after April due to budget constraints
The Japanese manufacturer was “far” from its full-season testing allocation of 20 car days in 2022, having not run its LMH contender privately since just before the second round of the championship at Spa in May.
The Le Mans 24 Hours test day in June and the post-season rookie test in Bahrain, where it was obliged to give 30 laps in the car to Lilou Wadoux, were the only two occasions where ...Keep reading

Alpine better dominate or at the very least win legitimately because they’re the only LMP2 works team and the rest of the field wouldn’t stand a CHANCE against their F1 team if they were to compete in F1, let alone Mercedes and Ferrari
Why bring F1 into this
Because El Plan has propelled Alpine in front of McLaren AND Aston Martin. And the rest of the LMP2 teams were on the same level as MANOR.
What does Alpine's F1 program have to do with the WEC?
Their F1 and LMP2 efforts are two separate things
Both series are different management wise
Because they’re under the same motorsports division owned by Renault
And the Alpine subsidiary now has full control over Renault’s motorsport activities

Cindric, Lundgaard and Hirakawa all deserve to be ahead of Zhou.
not to be too much critical of Zhou, but he's had an alright season, but when you compare it the name mentioned above.
Cindric won the Daytona 500, and had couple of impressive drives into the top 10.
Lundgaard was this year's best rookie in Indycar, and had spectacular drives especially at Gateway.
And to make it short for Hirakawa, he's won a WEC title in his debut season.

You can take the man out of Europe but you can’t take Europe out of the man
real
He still does Indy in 2023 as he is only doing 3 IMSA races that year, all of which don't conflict with the Indy schedule
tbh I'm not even sure how long his contract is meant to last
and regardless, whether he is doing full IMSA/WEC in 2024 is still unspecified
he joins the program
that oversees the development of the LMDh for both IMSA and WEC
where he'll compete is actually not revealed by Lambo

Oh makes sense
It would make sense to me to do Indycar and WEC at the same time
WEC's calendar is very spread compared to Indycar
A 34 Car entry, 30 of which are GT3 cars, will form the grid for the 2022 Gulf 12 Hours this weekend. 8 cars will compose the GT3 Pro class with a pair of Audis (one apiece from Audi Sport Team Sainteloc and Audi Sport Team Tresor) and three apiece from Ferrari (all from AF
but they clash
i think
i doubt indycar would move a race for WEC
WEC and IMSA shouldnt clash but they do next year
and indycar and MEC shouldnt clash either
Romain is just testing the Lambo
.@RGrosjean to dovetail #IndyCar with factory Lamborghini ride @LamborghiniSC https://t.co/eUkbiYXJnO via @racermag
finally no more indy
there are 2 races on the top of my head that clashes, I think Barber clashes with 6h of Spa, and Portimao with Long Beach.
and the season finale at Long Beach clashes with Fuji.
but I think RoGro will likely give up Indy since he doesn't have large success there (as of now), and it's really challenging to do both series at once, because it's really demanding seeing that WEC is separated in some races 1 week before Indy and Vice-versa, and it could be a really short time for him to deal with the jet lag.
among many other reasons.
Season finale at Long Beach with Fuji?
Hold up, we don't even know the 2024 Indycar Calendar 💀
Oh lmao, that’s next year’s calendar
But regardless, it will still be tough for Grosjean to do both in 24’.
He will need to channel his inner Jim Clark
LMP2 class set to be axed from WEC from 2024
A plan to reshape the WEC without LMP2 except for the Le Mans 24 Hours double-points round will be put to the FIA World Motor Sport Council on Friday, Motorsport.com understands.
It reflects the likely growth in Hypercar entries in what will be the second season in which LMDh hybrid prototypes will go against the Le Mans Hypercars introduced in 2021 in the top division of the WEC.

True
Bad news: LMP2 being scrapped
Good news: there will be GT3 entries in a category named GTLM.
It makes sense in a way, it’s quite a lot of entries when you consider how many entries there will be in LMH, and with LMP2s it will simply be quite a lot of cars in a circuit.
So teams going as buyers in LMDh or GT3

F1 world champion Villeneuve in frame for Vanwall WEC seat
A drive for the 1997 title winner aboard a Vanwall Vandervell LMH was described as “a possibility” by team boss Colin Kolles after Villeneuve’s test with his squad at Barcelona last week.

most LMP2 teams are already running Hypercars
This is basically not a bad thing lol
Big LMP2 teams are gonna buy LMDhs
Good point tbf
And more GT action
No GTE's tho
I wonder how these supposed juiced up GT3's are going to be
AF Corse already got their hands on the 499P LMH, while JOTA has a 963
It's for the best if that means more manufacturers in hypercars
While I still don't support removing Pro lineups in GT I don't hate the idea of having two bigger classes instead of four smaller ones
True
And hopefully they do indeed juice up the GT3 WEC cars a lot
Maybe back to the mid 2000s GT1 class when they were making 600-650 horsepower
That would be great
They gotta wait for a new chassis to be ready, they're already shoehorning a heavy hybrid system into an over decade old chassis and shouldn't add more weight and safety concerns with a bigger engine
Well what now?
What
the porsche 963 was too successful
now every lmp2 team wants one
hasnt even raced once
Lol, that reminds me of something back in the 80s
the car is styled in the 956/962's image
When the 962/956 sold like hotcakes
I mean there were le mans back then where 20+ 956s and 962s on the grid
it'll probably be 20+ cars in 2024/2025
but probably more diverse
I don't know if that's feasible today but there could be a fair amount more 963 customer teams, already have at least 3 plus 4 likely entires by the factory Penske team
nah i meant 20+ hypercars combined

Hyundai has decided who will be its next #WRC team principal, and it's ex-Renault #F1 boss Cyril Abiteboul 👀
huh.
They’re doing strange things
hopefully he does good for the neuville WRT
😐
Eric Boullier was also a candidate for Hyundai's TP role
they had far much better options but decided to settle for 2 TPs who failed miserably their F1 projects.
Cyril Irritable
WRC is different to F1 tho
so they could succeed
that's fair, but I'm speaking on the point they were given projects and failed to live up to the goals they were given.
idk anything about cyril other than the whole tattoo thing

So your saying Abiteboul will become FIA president at some point
he's french, so yes.

so that's the new concept the ADAC is planning to integrate DTM into their "structure"
Will they be hosted on the same weekend or like they are now
that's not clear yet
GT Masters (with GT4, TCR and sometimes Prototype Cup) so far has been separate from the ADAC Racing weekend.
perhaps DTM will then feature DTM endurance? idk
DTM and GT Masters will have a few joint weekends as far as I understand it

We already know that the car will be based on an Oreca chassis, like the Acura ARX-06, but what will be hidden under the rear bonnet? According to our information, it will be an engine derived from the Mecachrome 3.4 litre V6 turbo currently used in Formula 2.
Did Alpine not have a look at Ginetta's LMP1 outing before considering this?
Absolutely not
For christ's sake, Alpine might as well use Judd power or a Gibson LMP2 engine modified to suit LMH engine regulations
why is there a cloud behind the car? what altitude is this?
Ground level
The Mecachrome V6 in its normal condition
oh right
why dont the improve the reliability

They have had reliability issues since 2007 and prior

Alpine: Joining WEC late an advantage amid issues with hybrid system
Alpine has committed to building an LMDh car for what has been touted as a new golden era of sportscar racing, but its Oreca LMP2-based contender won’t be ready until the second year of the regulations cycle in 2024.
Some feel this could place Alpine on the back foot compared to other LMDh manufacturers such as Porsche, Cadillac and BMW, while also forcing it to play catch up to the likes of ...Keep reading

i didnt realize how tiny motogp drivers were until i watched this
max looked like a giant
they're only 12cm apart lol
I mean barring the F1 drivers who are absolute trees, the rest of the grid are fairly short as well
height across all motorsport tends to be the same really
not like any of it has a factor anyway
Max isn't even that tall
nor does he look like a giant in that vid lmfao

Toyota doesn't want second WEC race in US as calendar expands
Earlier this year, Roger Penske revealed he had held talks with WEC about running a race on the Indianapolis road course, which previously hosted Formula 1 events from 2000-07, saying the plan was at “the top of his list”.
The discussions precede Penske’s eponymous squad joining forces with Porsche for its LMDh programme in both the WEC and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from ...Keep reading

Don't forget that Toyota has some rich history with endurance racing in the US
Toyota's no stranger to racing in the US, so there's no reason as to why they would turn down another US race
Would love to see them in the red white and yellow
I don't see Toyota GR putting the Eagle-Toyota colors on the GR010 when they come to America anytime soon, but I'm sure it would look great

Thank you
Magnus has traffic ahead of him to overtake Zubair
I saw him winning the last ever race of WTCR, Good drive in fairness.
if Zubair let the #44 past he could have avoided this type of shenanigans of which Magnus is benefitting from.
just clocked in he's belgian
Magnus has only Zubair the GT3 Pro leader ahead of him.
and just like that Magnus took the lead
Shame he drove into the pits
