1. Re-signing Checo - now they have this issue.

I would not be surprised if they wanted to put Daniel in, but once the season progressed and Horner decided to back Checo, they didn't have the clear pathway to get Liam a seat.

The plan was most likely:

1. Extend Checo and see if that improves his performance.

2. If Checo didn't improve, then put him with Daniel. Daniel didn't perform as well as they expected, but also the VCARB car was shit. Both Yuki and Daniel struggled because of that - I don't like DR, but I admit I would've preferred to see him in RBR at least to collect data. Daniel was at the end of his career anyways, but at least Daniel likes a similar car to Max.

3. With Daniel in RBR for the year, then Liam get's Daniel's old seat.

When Horner decided to support Checo, Daniel got the boot. I'm glad it was Daniel who got the boot over Yuki, as Daniel wasn't performing well, but Red Bull could've handled this much different if they just didn't keep Checo to begin with.

Horner admitted that they didn't notice any issues with the RB19 because Max was winning and performing so well in the car. If you're a good driver, you know how to drive around any issues in the car - this is why Max, Lewis, etc. are champions.

The RB20 definitely had problems - it was so bad that even MAX was struggling with that car. The car had its issues, but this is very much on Perez for not being able to adapt, LET ALONE keep the car in one piece.

RBR lost countless upgrades because by the time they got to Perez, he binned the car so bad they couldn't save those parts. And then Perez continues to complain about the car being bad.

Furthermore, Perez was losing upgrades left and right, and much of Red Bull's budget had to go towards repairing Perez's car than trying to experiment and fix the issues in their car.

Perez deservers blame for them placing P3 in the championship, but most of the blame should go toward Horner and the people who decided to retain Checo. The writing was on the wall and Daniel, Yuki, or Liam should've been put in that seat earlier.
