Nah nah HKS don't play games
True.
HKS did drag machines and even an F1 engine, even though that never saw the light of day
It unfortunately didn't quite make enough power comparative to where it needed to
Also the Japanese dark decade kinda killed potential to develop further
Which also half killed the Isuzu, which makes me HURT
Was it much slower compared to its predecessors?
Or did the V12 produce less power than what the V8's were producing
The VRT35 was making a claimed 630bhp for 1992
Peugeot were making 680
Mercedes if they entered the C292 would've made 690
How much power did the VRH make compared to the VRT
And the R91CP?
Looks like this is a case of low power figures after all
I mean granted, the 3.5 N/A Gr.C's were designed partially to reduce power but be faster due to weight and aero
I'm kinda thinking if the NP35 being scrapped was a blessing in disguise or not, cause Nissan were able to focus on Daytona and the JSPC, and if Nissan did enter the 1992 WSPC season, they'd be trounced
the NP35 was for JSPC wasn't it tho?
Really? I thought it was for the WSPC
Nah it was entered into the JSPC that year
Nissan NP35 Production period: 1992 Class : race car Body versions : Coupe Engines: Gasoline :3.5 liters (463 kW) Length: 4795 mm Width: 1990 mm Height: 1080 mm Wheelbase : 2870 mm Curb weight : 750 kg The Nissan P35 is a Nissan- developed Group C sports car prototype that was to be used in ...
"The NP35, on the other hand, was well used in competitive races, but only once. The last race of the JSPC season in 1992 (and thus the last JSPC race ever) took place at the Mine Circuit , for which Nismo reported the only existing NP35. He had to compete in his class against the Toyota TS010 and the Mazda MXR-01 and was the slowest car in qualifying with 5 seconds behind the Nissan R92CP,"
I didn't expect it to be THAT bad
5 seconds slower
Only the V8's and V10's can prosper. 12 cylinders, not so much. Just look at the C291's results compared to the C9's and C11's
Well that's why I'm sad the C292 didn't get to run
They really stepped up the dev on the car in comparison to the previous and the engine was one of those areas
*extensive development by the Sauber engineers resulted in all of the C291's faults being rectified. In addition, intensive test-bench engine development saw the power increase to 690bhp at 'only' 12,600rpm, allowing for further development going forward with higher revolutions available*
Team : Sauber Mercedes
Driver : Michael Schumacher
Engine : Mercedes M291 tuned by MBAG 180゚ V12 DOHC NA 3,492cc 650bhp/13,000rpm

Why did motor manufacturers subject their vehicles to such a tortuous test as the Marathon de la Route? The answer for Porsche, was probably the same as for all manufacturers who participated, as Günter Steckkönig explains, “Mr Bott, the Chief Engineer in Development at this time, said that we should always take our new systems or new development work to the Marathon de la Route as a test. He told us that it was always much cheaper to do this race than go to the ‘Ring for testing [privately].
They really do anything for testing
nowadays of course most manufactureres have their very own test tracks sadly
Unfortunately true
But i can see why, it saves a lot of cash
Herbert Linge, winner in 1968 recalls with amusement, “You know, we found a lot of parts along the circuit. Sometimes you might find a drive shaft in the woods, or drivers who lost a fan belt after driving for 20 hours, they would find a fan belt somewhere in the hills and you put it in the car and bring it back to the parc ferme.”

The Kiss of Death. It depicts the moment in which Mexican film actor Linda Christian kisses Spanish driver Alfonso de Portago at a brief stop during the 1957 Mille Miglia race. Few moments after this photo. Alfonso de Portago crashed while taking a curve at 240km/h in Guidizzolo, Cavriana. Killing himself and 9 spectators (which 5 of them were children). Over the years, it has become one of the most renowned photographs of kisses and a symbol of young audacity and passion. These hybrid engines use a sophisticated combination of mechanical and electrical power to give record-breaking pace to contemporary cars, despite their size and weight, and to develop up to 1,000 horsepower, almost 300 more than the naturally aspirated ones that preceded them. As mind...

A record that stood for over thirty years, and the only way it was beaten was with a heavily modified LMP1. It's a lap that is the OG lap of the gods. A 956 being run to within an inch of its life at the infamous Nurburgring.

Lyn's baller livery
Badass woman with one of the most fire perms of the 80's
I don't have a crush somewhat, I don't, I swear
oh yeah I saw one of these
god the 222D was such a strange car, and the idea of Group S in general was weird
Group S was over the top tbh
yeah it was
odd
like
I get it for having a truly radical ass class
but Group B already did enough
whatever, it was the FiA and it didn't even race
it died a silent death due to Group B dying
and tbh, we still had Group C which was equally as bonkers
….and along came the 3.5L regs
Apart from the Jags and Saubers claiming multiple championships
That started in what, 1988?
I know that Porsche still memed the grid in 1994 with the Dauer 962C's, and made the big dick move of putting the winning car in the museum
The Dauer 962LM I think is my favourite aesthetically
The front end was extended to it looks alot better than pretty much any other variant
Apart from possibly the GTi's
Both look amazing tbh
Such an odd but good looking car
Anyone here going to Le Mans classic this year?

a very good result considering that Aixam usually makes microcars
Hot take: The Bud Light colors look better on the XJR14 rather than the Silk Cut colors
personally disagree, but they do work well on it
The JSPC had some cool liveries
The 2000 Dakar rally saw the single most incredible motorsport rescue operation ever. With almost 400 cars and over 1000 people stuck in the middle of Africa, bold risks had to be taken to ensure the continuation of the event. It’s properly mental
There’s so many chassis for a 917 but hardly any genuine cars Porsche maxes loads of chassis as drivers kept crashing and being killed but there was a genuine 917 on sale which Shaun lynn owns at retro mobile which was going for about $25 million
They're not easy cars to drive for sure
Even after the much needed improvements were made in late 1969
Yeah
Here’s one that was at mugello classic last year
Then the one that was on sale at retro mobile
Even has the Gulf colour scheme wow
Ye $25 million starting price
Borderline Ferrari territory
And then the guy put his 956 on Sale there to which is chassis number 001 of the 956s
He has to much money the guy
Ye he owns 2 of the Bentley speed 8s
Which were $18 million each about 6 years ago
Wow
Now those are classic
But he certainly knows the right people and has the money
My passion tho are these beasts
Which I work on currently
The xjr-12 arrived in the workshop this week
The xjr-9 we have had for quite a while
British Motorsport legends that
Best of luck with that, but then again, these cars can do it
Ye we did it last year
Nice nice
Then off to Dubai in December with the xjr-12
Dubai even
Yeah

Very cool stuff
Gonna be a very fun year

Citroën. The famous manufacturer of some of the most French cars on the planet - a complement or an insult depending on the decade. The late 90s and the early 2000s wasn’t a golden period for mass market cars wherever you went, and unfortunately this truth manifested itself quite spectacularly in France, with Citroën releasing the little Xsara i...

The history of NASCAR has one of the most colorful casts of characters that any professional level sporting league could ask for. It is no secret that many early NASCAR greats were also criminals in one way or another, but it is hard to find some as well ingrained into organized crime as Bob Pronger was. Today we look back at his wild story, t...

If you think Jimmie Johnson will be the first NASCAR champion to race at the 24h of Le Mans in a Camaro, then think again. In 1981 the all-American Stratagraph racing team brought with them a highly unusual Camaro with dirt tracking roots and 3x Nascar champion Cale Yarborough to race it.
So let's take a look at the team's performance in the '81...

So! A Volkswagen Beetle outbraking and overtaking a Lola T70. Not, you are thinking, within the usual process boundaries that provide us with our properly ordered universe.
But the information that the driver is Emerson Fittipaldi should arouse one’s suspicions that this may not be, yer regular kind of Beetle.
And your suspicions would not have been wasted. For what we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is the legendary Fitti-Fusca!
Built in 1969, and based on a purpose built racing chassis designed by future Fittipaldi Formula 1 designer Richard Divila, it was powered by a unique, 8-cylinder, 400bhp engine, developed from a pair of coupled Volkswagen Flat-4s. Driven through a Porsche RSK gearbox, and covered with a lightweight replica Fusca bodywork (Fusca is the Brazilian nickname for a VW Beetle), all it needed for guaranteed success was a coat of orange paint.
So they painted it orange.
Sports car racing was Brazil’s principle domestic racing series at the time, and the smart players usually lashed-out on Lolas, Alfa Romeos, Ford GT40s and the like. But Richard and the Fittipaldi brothers liked to do things their own way. And their effort was always going to be appreciated, even if only for the lasting pleasure to be had from photos exactly like this!
the Yellow Submarine livery is one of my all time favourites.
