I find it quiet annoying we have to reset the app, thus having to recreate the overlays time after time. I've done it about 10 times now in about 2 weeks and every time it takes 1 hour or more to setup the overlay.
I wish there was an import/export button to import/export overlays.... Pretty please, requested feature.
Past stream our streamers mobile streamelements app crashed, prior to that the alerts were working and audible to the streamer. Ofcourse as we have a streaming server it went to offline screen while he rebooted his phone ("had to" for some reason).
When back streaming again the streamer did not get any sound from the alerts going through. Is there some other way than to delete ALL overlays and reset app data in the phone to force default overlays to be created, and me having to deal with the 1-2 hour setup?
I also noticed that there were some transparent overlay there shadowing the overlay we had...the only one we had left
It affected the Streamer chat for example....got doubled "shadowed text" that made it not readable

The behavior is definitely not normal, I have been using a mobile overlay without reset for about 7 months so that's something to look into.
In regards to import/export, what I do and advise to all streamers is that they duplicate their widgets from their mobile overlay to a dummy, unused overlay and date it. So if you ever need to generate a new mobile overlay, you can just move them from your backup overlay into your new mobile overlay. An overlay is just a home for widgets and if you keep those widgets in a safe space, you can move them wherever you like.
To reset the data, go into your phone application settings and find StreamElements and clear the data/cache then delete the mobile overlay from the website. Once you login to the app, you will have generated a new overlay. This is the best way to start from zero.
For your last point, that would be down to individual widget settings.
These are all the widgets used in the mobile overlay:
Notice I have the date added in the alertbox, that's the last time I made a change and that alertbox currently sits in 3 different overlays.
If I ever need to generate a new mobile overlay then I move it from one of my backups.

Do this with all your widgets in the mobile overlay and if you ever run into issue, you only have to click one button and you can have it recreated in less then 3 minutes.
You're misunderstanding.
If you generate a new mobile overlay.
You move the widgets from your safe overlay into the new mobile overlay.
When you generate a new mobile overlay, it is base and default.
But the widgets you have saved in a BACKUP overlay are custom tailored to the experience you want to show.

You don't need to do that if he's a single phone.
The overlays will show up in OBS via the phone.
If he is a single phone streamer, just have him put the RTMP address and do not add any browser sources.

I rent 3 RTMP servers, I am very confident that's what is happening.
When SE streams to the server, it will bring the overlays with it as that's what it is designed to do.
You only need the VLC Media Source in the scene.

@lean moth And before you delete any browser sources, just hide them to see if it brings them with it but it should. I'm running some tests myself and it wasn't bringing them but definitely do look into that and let me know. Last time I streamed to RTMP via the app, it brought the overlays with it without needing to add a browser source, gonna do a bit of digging but it sounds like the most likely culprit for that specific issue.
I gotta do some more inquiry and investigation but it definitely should be bringing your overlays to the server via the phone with no need to add a browser source.

What confused me was that even if i had all other overlays deleted and for example hid the chat and saved...it would go away on stream...but as soon as redoing it...or even deleting the chat and adding a new chat overlay the same shadow text was back.

It'll change the image of the overlay but it'll work fine.

You can't make changes from the app, it's only for IRL streaming... you really only can use the website on mobile. If you want to modify your alerts and stuff, use a PC.
Modifying the bot and commands is pretty streamlined for mobile browsing but the overlay editor is best used on a PC.

After you're done editing @lean moth hit the reload overlays from the activity feed.

Scrolling text gets locked up during editing and the overlays cache needs to be refreshed in OBS but since you're relying on mobile, that button should do the trick. The button refreshes it and then you're scrolling again!

It wouldn't be either of your phones @clear chasm or @idle stratus you probably have a variation where TTS is disabled and it's overriding your base settings. Check all your variations for the events that you want TTS enabled.
If all alerts are working as expected except TTS, it will be what I described above.

When I tried to edit my overlay's alert box, that default alerts or nothing not working in my phone. When I try to preview it, i got sound but nothing alerts not shows on the screen. The app loads it automatically. One thing to note is, you don't see the overlay loaded on your side, its loaded on your stream(viewer) side.

Hi, I have a custom win counter with a url that I am trying to get in my overlay. Every other mobile streaming program I have used I was able to just put in the url in and the widget just came up and was there I can not figure out how to implement this in streamelements. Hey guys. I have a problem with YouTube streaming. Every time I want to go live I get an error :Failed to connect to YouTube.
It doesn't matter what I do, app always creating new scheluded stream which just don't work. The problem Is now YouTube require to check if this video is for kids or not and it's always unchecked( so can't proceed) even if my channel is tagged as not for kids and any other app doesn't have this issue. Was trying to create live by myself by custom rttp but it seems like app can only go live by creating it's own, and even if I manually check those option in YouTube studio it's not possible to connect to the same stream by hitting red button again. Once that app got failed connection next try will end with creating another stream. I'm close to giving up on that option tbh and just come back to SL

Well if you're only getting a black screen, there's a much greater issue then just your overlays not appearing.
And you're streaming straight to Twitch, no RTMP right?
You should see yourself in the app but per your screenshot, it's black. Do you have another phone you can use to test? Outside of uninstalling and reinstalling the app, you might have a much deeper issue then I would be able to fix here.

I can ask if there's any known issues with the S9 and the app but the next step is to completely uninstall and reinstall. It isn't syncing up with your mobile overlay. 9 times out of 10, the clear of the cache and data that I had you do will fix it.
So, delete the mobile overlay, delete absolutely all traces of the app from your phone and log back in.

I mean.
Technically, yes.
It's complicated but possible.
You could put an image on your overlay, covering however much of the screen you want... then hide it in the overlay editor so it won't be seen on stream.
When you mute your camera, open up your overlay and unhide the image then save it and it's there.
Assuming you're streaming straight to Twitch and not using an RTMP.
A bit easier if you're streaming to RTMP. Also @low phoenix I'm still looking into your issue, I haven't forgotten you.

Thanks, but I figured it out. For some reason I have relog most times when making changes on the mobile overlay.
Like if the stream is live I can make changes no problem but if it's offline when I make the changes then the overlay stops working if it goes live without relogging

Hello, I'm trying to work media share on my phone. Viewer requests is on and queue moderation is off and auto play media is on but it never auto plays it every time i stream on my phone unless I click on "show on stream" manually. Any help please? thank you!

One or two phones? There are a few different ways I could recommend that might make it easier but ultimately you'd have to enable that "show on stream" button every time you start stream.

You should be able to but it cause hiccups, in my experience.
In your case, you'd have to open the website on your phone and click that button but if you can, what I'd recommend is what before you leave to start the day and if you have a computer at home, open that media request page on your computer and hit the button.
Then as long as you have the media request widget in your overlay, you should be good to go but any time you have an issue, just check that "show on stream" button again.

Well that stinks. I was hoping to find a way to hear chat with out having to constantly look at my phone. I plan on doing some pier fishing irl and dont want to be tethered to my device. Hello, are there any problems with the encoder at the moment? When I stream to 720p or 1080p the picture looks like 160p or 320p resolution. Much grizzled us very restless. My cell phone is an S10 Plus which actually takes a really good picture with other apps I don't have the problem

My overlays are okay and the app works flawless. The issue I'm having is that upon events (such as donations, followers, etc.) nothing comes up, either on the live stream or on my app. The activity feed on the app is also empty. When I check the activity feed via my browser, however, it's full of events.

Looking through the VOD, however, I can't seem to find any visual alerts of followers or the donation.
I'll proceed to update my mobile operating system and restart the phone. Who knows.

- All hosts coming from an online channel with at least 1+ viewer
- Auto host events with at least 1 viewer - only from a channel that just went offline
Note: If you see X channel has hosted you with no viewers on the back, that is considered an offline host or a host with 0 viewers, we do not show these.

- Make sure your stream is public. The bot cannot join a private/unlisted stream.

I reccomend this to anybody I can, always backup your widgets from mobile periodically as you update them to a non-mobile overlay.

@tardy reef Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

Hello, I just downloaded StreamElements for IRL streaming on mobile. It's my first time using StreamElements so I am a bit confused. When I press the alert box, it only shows me the preview, doesn't let me turn the preview alert or edit. Where can I click to edit my mobile overlay? Thank you!

@burnt canopy Make sure you do not rename that overlay and you should be good to go, no problem.
And yes, anything you edit in the PURPLE STATIC overlay will appear on stream.
You won't see it on your phone but you will HEAR your alerts.

You can, you can see the event list while streaming.
You just won't see the graphics of the alert.
You will hear the sound to let you know something happened then you can see the event list to see what it was. You can also enable chat alerts as well if you'd like to see it from chat.

Okie! I understand now ^-^ sorry for so many questions. I think it's fine for me to mention this bc I also have another question regarding this. So I have a Samsung S10 Plus, that is currently updated to the Android 10. I was using StreamLabs but as most people know, streamlabs has problems with Android 10 and alerts won't work. Does StreamElements have any similiar issues when it comes to this Android ?

Not with alerts, no.
If you do experience any issues, you can pop in over here and we can assist but there aren't any known issues like the one you're referencing from the other side.

Thanks, that's perfect bc I also tried the other app Prism, their alerts are great, but the other issue is that in locations with lower connection they are worst to pick up those signals, which causes a 2/3 min delay and buffering. StreamLabs doesn't have that issues and in those same locations works great. But the Alert issue is super annoying. So I'm happy to try this new option, and hopefully will work better than the others 😄 thanks for having me and assisting me

ahah that makes me happy. Anyways, I have one more question for now, so I just edited the overlay following alert to test. But when I emulate it, it only shows the preview on the overlay editor. I wanted to test if it's working on mobile, but when I press preview on mobile it only shows the default tipping one

Yeah, that's by design. There is no way for you to see it on the phone. The test in the app will always show a default and it's just to make sure the sound is working pretty much.

Once you're live, you can test from the editor and as long as you check "preview live on stream" you'll be able to see them.
You can emulate any and all events.

I'll test it with a alt twitch account first! So I can see it on my computer while I'm doing it. And then if it works I'll setup on my actual account 😄 Maybe that's a good idea so I can do all the testing and placements of the alerts ^-^

Do not change the name of the overlay.

Keep in mind, you won't see the alerts on your phone but you'll be able to hear all your custom sounds. All visual aspects of your overlay will be visible to your stream when you're live but not for you on the phone @untold cloak and no problem!

Hello, so I’ve tested the IRL stream through SE on my phone. It worked great, there was no delay or lag. But there were 2 things I’d like to ask how I can fix.
Firstly, I’d like to mention my phone has 2 cameras in front and 2 cameras in the back. But when I was using SE I couldn’f find how to switch between them. On Prism for example you have an option to switch between the 4 cameras. Is there any option where I can switch cameras? Bc SE back camera default is my worst back camera D: and I’d like to pick the other one.
The other question is, I tried to see if the alerts were working but they didn’t show up. When I pressed Emulate, it would play on the overlay editor but not on my phone. How could I fix this? Thank you ^-^

@burnt canopy SE app doesn't have multiple camera support. And about alerts - they show up, but just on stream. On phone you should hear just alert sound.

So it's possible there's a desync between your app and the overlay and the way to fix that is to delete the app/cache data in your phone for the app, delete the mobile overlay and log back in to generate a new one.
But to make sure it wasn't anything else, whenever you do another test, you can add an image to the overlay to see if it appears when you stream.
This can be a good test to make sure it is synced.
Since you're on the default alerts right now, there won't be much to do to refresh everything.

I see you tested them from the play button within the alertbox which is a fine way to test them but it is possible that button got unchecked while testing.

The image is just to guaranteed sync. If you were to start stream and we didn't see the image in the VOD then we know it's a desync but since we're just starting out...
If you want to to just do a refresh, top to bottom, just to be sure, I don't think it's a bad idea.
Using a fake account straight to Twitch would only prove that that specific account is synced up and to test your phone stability with the app.
Since the link between the app and the mobile overlay on the website is all automatic. We need to make sure that it's actually linked properly on the main account.

Just open the app on your phone, make sure you're logged into the proper account.
As if you were about to start stream.
Mute your computer completely so we can make sure we don't pick up sound from anywhere else.
Check the preview live on stream button and emulate events from here:
Now you should hear the default ring-a-ling from your phone when emulating.
If you don't, we're going to have to resync your overlay to the app.

OK so it sounds like we're synced.
As far as volume, you know of course just make sure volume is max on phone and if you've got the speaker you plan to use already, I'd test that too.
Then within the alertbox, you can individually adjust volume there as well.
What I would recommend is to maybe not switch back and forth between accounts often just so we can make sure nothing gets confused.
But you should be good, I think maybe the emulation just wasn't getting through at that particular time.

Idk if this helps but StreamLabs has that issue. When I first start the stream it shows like 2/3 alerts and after that it never plays alerts again

Well, a streamer you're familiar who uses an S10+ as well but in companion mode which is syncing the same way and we don't have many issues with alerts at all unless the speaker is broken.

OK, let's see if it works when you test again. The most common problem I face with sound when using StreamElements app on the Samsung S10+ and Android 10 is that the bluetooth is messed up.
But no bluetooth.
It seems to be synced up, what I'm hoping is that's just a minor hiccup with emulation.
Which I myself experience from time to time when testing new alerts.

I run almost all my streaming from my iPad Pro. It’s unfortunate, but I feel like I make it work haha. Well when I go to manage my overlays on the website, no matter what browser I use, I only get a quarter of the overlay
