my streaming PC CPU sometimes go to like 40 and it's all chill
so if you're streaming with 1 pc and see 10%, I don't think it's an issue

but every setup is unique so you have to do the oversight for what's happening @steady wasp

@regal flame that's sort of expected. perhaps logs or traffic captures will be more revealing to you, but we don't usually do that as our overlays are usually not the cause for similar behavior

@steady wasp I would say generally yes. 10% CPU is not a lot. BUT - you have to keep a lookout as these things change by the setup.

I will rerun the checks and see what changes or what happens and let you's know what's going on with it. But ive done all the restarts and resets and still shows the same issues.

@wary pumice 1) Restart OBS
2) Start your stream/recording for about 30 seconds. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.
3) Stop your stream/recording.
4) Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste the link here.

Note: If you do not see an obsproject.com URL, you will need to update OBS Studio to version 22+.

I want to say it has to do with your overlays and the fix is to delete the overlays, install plug-in, and re-add the overlays, but I’m trying to get confirmation before telling you to do that.

@copper bone If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

In your chat? That is called a Timer, which you can set up in your StreamElements dashboard.

Though the minimum would be a 1 minute interval, rather than 30 seconds.

If you do not see the StreamElements menu at the top of OBS, then OBS.Live is not installed. You will need to reinstall it.

hello this is probably an easy fix but i don't know how to do it. I prefer to use game capture to capture my gameplay when i stream but when i say for it to capture any full screen application it wont capture any games. So i have to choose what it captures and its rather annoying because when i switch scenes it takes a second for me to pick what it captures. Is there a fix for this?

@idle bramble If you are not hearing your alerts and/or Media Request, you are most likely using the Control Audio via OBS option in your browser source properties.
To make sure you hear the alerts and the stream also hears them, follow along the screenshot bellow.

This can be also caused by using plain OBS (without OBS.Live plugin) with browser not set to "shutdown source when not visible" and your alertbox plays audio from different scene

Hi guys! I've decided to switch over from SLOBS to OBS + SE Live and I was trying to "import from other services" for overlays but as I'm trying to do that I get to 10/10 90% complete and Im stuck there for infinite. Is that a known issue or am I supposed to do something else? Thanks

Hi, I am back again with the same bug, are you going to listen to me now or ban me again?

I think the bug is deeper than what we thought before.

I have just finished my Electron In Focus Launch livestream ... and the bug I told you about is back!

I only had two browser sources, everything else was off. There is no reason at all to use 100% CPU (and mind you I am running a Server PC and used to have 20 Browser source all together and split screens without a SINGLE dropped frame!)

The first 40 mins of the stream the issue was so terrible down to 15fps, and sometimes audio dropping and really really bad experience! I lowered all other settings like encoding bitrates (6,000) and Mode to Performance; nothing helped! ... I was running no other apps to the side all CPU was used by OBS! not even chrome!

The last 20 mins suddenly the problem disappeared without me changing anything and it was so smooth 60fps hardly using 4% of CPU! This is driving me insane.

Please help me figure this bug out, so many other creators are complaining about dropped frame but many of them don't actually realize the issue is with OBS and some are blaming it on YouTube or internet or Windows Update.

I know for sure the issue is caused by OBS, frames are dropped even when there is a still image browser source and even when not streaming nor recording! ...

I have two PCs, one for games and the other for streaming, the problem is that the interactions on my live can only be heard on the streaming PC, which hinders the interaction through the streamelements store. please if anyone has any solution tell me

@tulip hamlet OK will you trust me now? ... ONLY two were active ... the rest where like very simple OBS.Live two costume decks (chat and events) also one Q&A browser from Google Doc which was turned on in the final 20 mins and the stream was PERFECT 0 DROPPED FRAMES with only 4% CPU

The sources are the same before this bug started to happen and after it disappears ... They are either SHUT DOWN (that means from properties not just hidden), or DELETED.

The Active sources that should use CPU are only 2!

The key thing here and please listen to me carefully this might solve it ... first 40 mins, the issue is ruining the whole stream ... then suddenly without anything changed it became perfect for the rest of 20 mins

Look, ... I usually do a test run and prepare everything hours before an important stream and I do a lil test stream.

test stream was absolutely PERFECT 0 dropped frames (hours ago)
then I shut down OBS and shut down the server ... and open it again 10 mins or so before the stream, and as soon as I open OBS the CPU goes 100% ... to the same settings same sources same setup, same internet, same apps, same everything

And being suddenly fixed on its own after 40 mins DURING the live stream with additional Q&A Google Doc browser activated makes totally no sense to me

And it is actually muted and the properties are set to UNCHECKED to the 1st audio track (so it doesn't go to live), it is muted, and it is set to monitor OFF

@tulip hamlet Rs source usually starts with audio MUCH louder than other sources ... and it was always weird for me ... I mean the audio volume is TOO LOUD usually

What useful test could you design or suggest for me to try and see how can we reproduce the bug on cue? ... what scenes or sources do you think we can add or join together to recreate the bug?

OBS is very bad with Audio ... and I was trying to reason with them just minutes before I came here ... and they were about to ban me like you did ... they were not listening and blaming it on StreamElements ... and I was trying to tell them that I did this with the same OBS.Live and same setup for ages ... even hours before this ... even the second part of the EXACT stream ... it doesn't make sense ... they were just refusing to listen

I understand that I try to cut corners and save you time by pointing you to the correct source of the issue ... and that sometimes sound like I am trying to fight or cause you problem ... once you listened to me and took me seriously you could see I am a nice person trying to help another nice person (you) fix my issue

So just to keep it productive here ... if you think of any ways to design a specific test setups (scenes, sources, output settings) to reproduce the issue don't hesitate to contact me

I've also found an old forum post regarding a similar issue, and they found that setting a 30ms sync offset on all their audio devices in Advanced Audio Properties helped, so you can try that out.

@tulip hamlet I tried ... it didn't make any difference (that's what I did before when I sent you the three logs ... the logs showed NO ISSUE but the issue was actually still very much the same)

But nice to point out that some browser sources audio used to suddenly disappear ... then I found a workaround that ... going to Audio Monitoring and changing it to Monitor off for 5 seconds then back to output and monitor and it would magically get the audio back!

That used to happen every time before ... (that's before the OBS update)

after the update ... I don't remember getting the audio issue (no need to change the audio monitoring settings) ... but started to have this CPU problem

But all that, pointing out sources to play with, suggesting the sync offset, that's about the limit of what I can do here. Like I mentioned, OBS has a history of audio buffer issues that have been largely unresolved, and even carried over to other programs that were based on OBS's source code. It's a bit beyond the scope of what we can do here. This is a support helpdesk specifically for issues with using the OBS.Live plugin, not for OBS Studio itself. We've got some knowledge of its quirks, but usually we'll send you to OBS Project's Discord for these sorts of technical issues with their base software, since they've got much more experience and understanding with those types of issues.

Last week I uploaded my profile and scenes in the cloud. On obs.live>streamelements>cloud backup>backup settings and content. Now inn my new pc im trying to download it in ''manage cloud backups'' I choose the one that I uploaded and then it doesnt let me download it, the button RESTORE doesnt do anything 👍

I would like to know if the streamelements has a program that allows me to hear the interactions on my live. I have two PCs, one for games and the other for streaming, the problem is that the interactions on my live can only be heard on the streaming PC, which hinders the interaction through the streamelements store. please if anyone has any solution tell me

Having a bizarre issue with contests... i set the contest at 5 minutes, but then the timer on stream starts at 5:41 and ends at 0:41, so it's throwing off everyone's perception of when the contest actually ends. Is there a reason for this?

Hey there! I have a question about the Store Redemption alert box. I have the overlay set up, and everything is fine. However, one of my store items shows a gif. I have the alert set to only show for 5 seconds, however the gif store alerts last for around 10 seconds instead. Any ideas how to fix?

A little more information: My sound effects that I've added with the gif is only 4 seconds long, which is why I set the alert to 4 seconds. However the audio will play, run out, and the gif will run another 4-5 seconds

Make sure you are on the latest and greatest version of OBS.Live
Exit OBS (make sure OBS is not running)
Delete %appdata%\obs-studio\plugin_config\obs-browser\obs_profile_cookies
Start OBS.Live
Settings > Stream > Disconnect > Connect

I created an overlay on streamelements and selected store redemption alert, when I test a redemption it plays the sound on OBS but it doesnt show the alert. but when I look at streamelements website it shows the alert popping up

So my option for chat bot to post as me has stopped working and when i hit send test message it wont post a test message but if i switch to streamelements bot hit test messsage and save it works is there a fix for this?

@wide cairn If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

hi, i have a little problem with Asset rotator/slideshow. I embeded a video and in the dashboard-preview is it working fine.
But in the obs/url-preview the video from the asset rotator wil not show up.

No idea why but my obs has been crashing upon start up all day. I reinstalled the plugin but that didn't help, so I reinstalled OBS itself and that seemed to be fine until I updated the obs.live plugin, then it proceeds to crash again.

Duplicate the current "Scene Collection" at the very top of OBS, call it something like "Backup" and remove all browser sources in that backup
Install OBS.Live and see if it still crashes

If yes, repeat steps 1 and 2, leave OBS.Live uninstalled, tell us that it didn't work and use your old default scene collection again.

Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterwards, but not a list of settings.

Its specific in Spotify's terms that without an actual license, you are not allowed to restream music using them, as spotify is a streaming service, when you play music via them and especially if you show it on stream that you are using spotify

Duplicate the current "Scene Collection" at the very top of OBS, call it something like "Backup" and remove all browser sources in that backup
Install OBS.Live and see if it still crashes

If yes, repeat steps 1 and 2, leave OBS.Live uninstalled, tell us that it didn't work and use your old default scene collection again.

@soft hatch If you are not hearing your alerts and/or Media Request, you are most likely using the Control Audio via OBS option in your browser source properties.
To make sure you hear the alerts and the stream also hears them, follow along the screenshot bellow.

@celest otter To add your overlays to OBS, add a new browser source in your scene. Paste your overlay URL in the browser source properties, set the dimensions to 1920x1080 (unless you changed them on the website) and check Shutdown source when not visible. https://youtu.be/KDvLynUqXI4

Ok I have been checking the entire channel for an issue I have been having lately, if anyone else can help, I greatly appreciate it. Hey all, I have an older capture device. I am trying to stream a Smash Ult tourney and can't get my Capt Card to show without serious lag. If it is a static/mostly static image its fine. As soon as there is motion everything goes to like 0fps. For reference I am using an AverMedia LGP. If I am doing any other capture (screen/window/game) its fine though

I'm having problems with my custom bot name not working today. I had reset all of my twitch stuff the other day, passwords and keys, etc.. and my bot was still working. Today, however, the custom bot name in OBS.Live will not work. I have changed it back to StreamElements and tried to connect again, putting in my password and getting a successful login email. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled OBS.Live only (with reboot) as well as full OBS and fully reinstalling and updating (leaving my user settings on the uninstall) and it's still not working. The only thing I haven't tried is clearing all of my user settings (which i have backed up). Any other recommendations or things I should try?
It only gives me the option to connect custom bot account but not ever filling out the userid or allowing me to send a test message.

If you're capturing your desktop it will always do that until you hide it. Only other option is to right click in the grey space to the left/right of it and hide preview. That'll just hide it for you but you won't have it "looping" like that.

@crisp arrow If your commands recently stopped working and you're using OBS.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

In OBS.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/sO7fWOX.png).
Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

The import can fail or stall if you are trying to:

import media files added as source, which are bigger then 30mb
assets that are copyrighted to Streamlabs
generally big assets

I've got a question, I am somewhat confused about chargeback protection in StreamElements, does SE offer chargeback protection if you're not using SE Pay? the reason I'm confused is because SE Pay exists and offers chargeback protection, however, in the tipping page settings I see an option to subscribe to global chargeback protection, so does both SE Pay and the regular SE tipping system offer chargeback protection with SE Pay having a better one, or is SE Pay the only one with chargeback protection?

First of all I want to mention that you are asking in the wrong channel.

That aside, Global Chargeback protection if enabled, helps you be protected from banned tippers in our system - to elaborate, if someone tipped a streamer, and that streamer had global protection on, if the tipper charges back for what ever reason, we ban them globally in our system, which prevents them from tipping any other streamer that has the check mark on.

This affects both SE.Pay and PayPal tipping - as long as the tip attempt is via our tipping link.

SE.Pay's chargeback protection only ensures that if there is a chargeback or fraud notification of a tip, we handle the case for you, instead of how you have to handle the chargeback notice in PayPal.

@lusty adder Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.

So I'm using an alert box that has an animation and it's cause my CPU usage to be very high and drops so many frames and doesn't play properly. It doesn't affect my game fps tho. Is there a way to make the browser sources use gpu instead of cpu?

Everyone with a blue name is a volunteer, so they are only available when they want to. And not everyone with a red name is a support staff member. So yeah it can take a while sometimes if you are on an unlucky time.

from the Overlay Editor > Session data on top right (monitor symbol) > Goals tab > reset progress of desired goal
from the Dashboard > Activity feed on the left > Widget data on the right > Goals tab -> reset progress of desired goal

Note: Goal widgets (progress) only counts up and doesn't go down automatically, if you lose followers/subs.

@keen wasp Make sure to ballot_box_with_check: “Shutdown source when not visible” for all browser sources (all OBS scenes). can anyone explain what is going on with the invalid authorization token. As of late I need to log out and log in again every other day while I never had to do this before. This starts to get utterly annoying. People are raiding following and my alerts do not work due to this. Even if I go to Settings>Stream, I can choose the platform "Twitch", the server automatically (recommended) and when I then click Connect Account (recommended), a pop-up window without content opens. The pop up window says "obs64".

Merging accounts only allows faster ways to switch between accounts
Merging accounts does not allow data sharing between accounts - different streaming platforms, different type of events
Merging accounts allows duplicating/sharing overlays between the accounts

If you understand the limitations of merging and want to proceed, please find the JWT tokens (!jwt) from both accounts you want to merge and you will be directed to DM them to a staff member

@rugged quail Bungie has opted to not allow OBS to hook Destiny 2 using Game Capture. See: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46101

You will need to run the game in either windowed fullscreen or borderless windowed and use Window Capture instead.

Hey I'm looking for some help, When I have OBS open it plays ads randomly and I can't mute OBS or OBS can't pick up audio, it started happening after I downloaded streamelements, and I know its not media requests playing it because media request plays music aside it while pressed play.

Neither OBS nor StreamElements has ads of any kind. Sounds like something else you set up within OBS, perhaps within one of your sources.

@fossil stratus The default resolution for StreamElements overlays (theme and custom) is 1920x1080. Please add them in OBS at their full resolution and use CTRL+F to fit to screen if necessary. You can then downscale your stream in OBS settings > Video if you'd like https://i.imgur.com/6bWXxjR.png

2) Download and install OBS Studio from https://obsproject.com/
3) If it doesn't crash, install OBS.Live too.

It crashes again?

Repeat steps 1 and 2
Duplicate the current "Scene Collection" at the very top of OBS, call it something like "Backup" and remove all browser sources in that backup
Install OBS.Live and see if it still crashes

If yes, repeat steps 1 and 2, leave OBS.Live uninstalled, tell us that it didn't work and use your old default scene collection again.

I need help...
Lately I have been having frame drops in OBS when streaming to twitch

I have been able to see through the statistics (see attachments) that the WSS is connected to my network

At least I have very good internet and I pay extra for an internet boost (400 download - 40 upload)
I use an ethernet cable (cat5) that goes from the wall to a swwitch tray from which I divide further to my game pc and my stream pc (dual pc setup)
can anyone help me what i can do to fix the drops and lag?
(this is translated with google translate as I speak Dutch)

@wise vine Dropped Frames means that you have a bad connection between your device and the streaming platform and most likely something related to your ISP not handling the connection properly.

Speed tests usually cannot help solve this problem and its best to use this guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Dropped-Frames-and-General-Connection-Issues

If you stream to twitch, use the !twitchtest command and do a connection test to your regional servers.
